    Linebrink

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) I'm blaming Greg Walker for Linebrink being lit up. One day you just may realize you are not funny. I would wager against it.

  4. QUOTE (frankiethefixer @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 03:53 AM) and belittling someone who does not have the best grasp of english language is alright? let alone when an admin of this board decides to make it even worse by adding on. i'm here just because this site has in my opinion the most knowledgeable sox fans i've found. thats why i like this site. i'm here to talk about the white sox. i'm sorry if i find offense when people find it funny to point out my english skills aren't the best and someone who is an admin of this boards decides to chime in. to me thats also a personal attack. i'm here to talk about the sox's thats all. Don't worry about it. You're english skills are far and away better than the creator of soxtalk could ever wish to reach.

  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) And a 61st round pick. That is what amazes me even more that so many people missed on him. 62nd round.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 11:37 AM) And Mauer is a farrrrr better hitter than Berkman. I don't think you realize how good berkman is.

    New to Sox Talk

Alright. I deleted my previous post. It was far from nice. I have been drinking spirytus rektyfikowany, gin, and tequila, since 5:35 p.m. Spirytus should not be legal. I'm sorry. Forgive me.
  10. I have not been in the chat for days. People better get their asses in there today.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) Maybe the Sox want to lose 100 games before it's over. If we are ever leading a game again we need Bobby to close it out. Thornton is not a closer. How many lefties have been great closers? Every save ever recorded by a left-handed pitcher.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) Jesus.. ok look first of all you don't release a guy with that much talent. You trade him to get good value. I've said this numerous times now, Carlos is an elite talent but is very injury prone. I would love to see us keep this stud for years to come, but if he's still like this (and mind you he's been like this with injuries for years) in 2-4 years if KW gets a good haul for him.. bye bye CQ. You just don't release him.. AT ALL. To be fair i think his release would be jusitified if he punched jerry reinsdorf in the face, maybe if he even just punched ozzie in the face.
  13. I brought this up several days ago in the chat... I am the last person to bring up the 2005 world series, this is actually only the second time since they won that i can recall mentioning it. The sox winning the world series forever made me a better sports fan and made me appreciate entertainment as a whole better. Prior to the sox being victorious in the 2005 world series i lived and died with every pitch, shot, pass. I was one of those people that you did not want to be around after a loss, which carried over until the next day. Being a chicago sports fan i was more miserable than i felt joy, which just made no sense. The reason we all want to be entertained, by any form of entertainment, is because for a little bit we want to forget reality and feel good, not the polar opposite. Basically, baseball is just a game (hard to believe at times, i know) but we have a greater game to worry about, and that would be the game of life. The majority of individuals care far more about anyone in the entertainment business than any of those specific individuals care about their entire fan base. Think about that for a moment.
  14. Intellectually soxtalk has gone way downhill. I want to voice my opinion, but to be frank, practically everything i read currently is garbage. I find no point in taking my time to voice my opinion just to have it skipped over because people would rather b**** and moan due to their personal lives sucking. Well guess what? So does mine. I'm personally not gonna take it out on hundreds of random people, because i have enough sense to know they could care less. You should too. I'm not sure if soxtalk will ever recover, which pisses me off like no other. Soxtalk is not my homepage because i hate it, just some of the people that reside here. I didn't leave for as long as i did because i wanted to be gone, i was forced.
  15. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:54 PM) Why are people blowing up more about Wise's comments than Fields'? We here at soxtalk are racists, i know that is what you want to hear.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 01:51 PM) I'm actually surprised teams don't try to steal more than they already do off of us. You will see plenty of that tonight.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 12:42 AM) You still need to be able to get a hit to score a run though, and we're 2 for our last 39 with RISP. Getz is a good example of a speed over production type hitter, and people already want him off the roster. On this home stand, we're getting killed by the long ball against our pitchers while we have a lineup with 4 or 5 players every game who won't hit double digit homers this season. Historically (this past decade) the sox are a very good hitting team with RISP, contrary to the belief here. One of the problems is the following. 2000- Fourth most at-bats with RISP in the majors. 2001- Twenty fourth most at-bats with RISP in the majors. 2002- Twentieth most at-bats with RISP in the majors. 2003- Twenty eighth most at-bats with RISP in the majors. 2004- Twenty ninth most at-bats with RISP in the majors. 2005- Thirtieth most at-bats with RISP in the majors (the offense clearly was not good all season, which will of course be overlooked due to the pitcher we recieved that season... grindy!) 2006- Twenty sixth most at-bats with RISP in the majors. 2007- Thirtieth most at-bats with RISP in the majors. 2008- Twenty eighth most at-bats with RISP in the majors. 2009- Twenty fourth most at-bats with RISP in the majors. In any given season, the league leader has any where between two and three hundred more at-bat than the white sox with RISP. The yankees who hit 200+ homers 8 seasons in a row from 2000 through 2007 (the sox hit 200+ 7 seasons in a row from 2000 through 2006) have been in the top third of baseball 7 times, if you count this year. Fairly similar teams also in the runs scored department during that time span.
  18. The majority of ''hookah smokers'' in this country are non smokers, which i find laughable. Hookah smoke is worse for you than cigarettes by a large margin. If you do not condone cigarettes or any other form of smoking, you simply are going against your beliefs.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) There is stat being thrown around that if Saturday's game ends with the Sox being shut out it will be the first time since July1969 the team has been shut out three consecutive games. There are so many firsts of a negative nature this year with this team it is getting pretty embarassing 07-21-1968 through 07-24-1968... and they were shut out three consecutive games TWICE that season.
  20. I didn't know people were sarcastic on soxtalk anymore. Learn something new everyday.
