QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) It sucks cause I really like Cutler, I hated Orton...yet I can't stand Cutler's decision making and thought his body language after the first pick was disgusting. The one where Hester fell down? I am sure he misses the line he had in Denver. And the receivers who actually can get open and run routes and catch the ball. -

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) How can Cutler be so horrible in the red zone???? Its a combination of a few things. Tight area. Our receivers are horrible at making plays. Hit them in the break basket on a slant, sure. Make a decision on their own. f*** that. Olsen for all of his talent can't get open. Bad line puts lots of pressure on QB. Crappy Line + receivers who can't catch or run routes or get open + small area + QB who knows he is the only one that can make the play = bad red zone execution. -

Dear Ron Shoop. The No Huddle seems to work. Maybe we should try it outside of when there is a minute left. -

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) great discipline guys!!!! Way to be, not a close game or anything Got to love Chris Williams contributing. Sure he lets defensive lineman have a clear path to kill our highly paid QB. But at least he makes up for it by doing stupid stuff at the end of the game, like having personal fouls. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) The funny thing is that before tonight, I thought our wide receivers were actually playing good football all season. Minimal drops, key catches, etc. The routes they run well are those where they get beyond the linebackers. Deep routes where there is a lot of space. But all season long, on short plays they are skitish of getting decked. They either shy away from contact or stop their routes altogether. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 09:52 PM) Only one of the INTs tonight (the red zone) was actually Cutler's fault. All I have seen tonight. Receivers falling down. Receivers not catching the ball unless its hits them in the breadbasket. Receivers shying away from contact. John Shoop is back to being our offensive coordinator. Line getting raped. Cutler probably had no clue when he came here what a cluster f*** of poor talent we have on both sides of the ball. We need to start to get receivers. Not athletes that they think they can turn into a WR because of a fast 40 yard split. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) Defensive player had every right to that play, IMO. Of course, throwing downfield to K. Davis probably isn't a recipe for success. He put the ball where the receiver was. Thats what a QB is supposed to do. If the receiver falls down, gets bumped or turns the other way its not on the QB. Certain INTs are on the QB. Thats not one of them. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) Wow, that was a terrible throw by Cutler. He really needs to start getting a lot more criticism. I wonder when the media will start with the Good Cutler/Bad Cutler like they started with Rex. The throw was there. The problem is the defense was allowed to bump the receiver and pick him off of the play. If Davis didn't get picked off the play its right on the money. Thats not on Cutler. -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 09:24 AM) Agreed entirely. I'm not anti-death penalty, but I too agree that they killer would suffer more by being in prison than he would by being executed. Why exactly would they suffer more. Its not like they are out in the yard smashing rocks with a sledge hammer or working on a chain gain. Cable TV, unlimited law library, exercise facilities and the ability to obtain drugs and influence other people. Sure they might not be able to sit for a few years after they are brought in. But they adapt. Lots of inmates adapt to the lifestyle and can function. Its not club med, but its not hard labor either.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 09:28 AM) I'd prefer execution if I could be involved and all I would need would be a simple claw hammer and the guy tied to a chair. I prefer this simple method if it was a family member of mine. 1.) Prisoner digs a hole with a shovel. 2.) Prisoner exits hole hands shovel over to family member of the victim. 3.) Family member of the victim swings for the fences and connects with the melon of the prisoner. He falls into the hole. 4.) Throw the dirt onto the prisoner until hole is filled.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) Hmm, I honestly wouldn't mind JD at 1B on the cheap, PK moved with Jenks for an impact player or two and signing a major player. Sounds too good though. Let me get this straight. We want to put out a 36 year old not-so-mobile career outfielder as our starting 1st baseman. Put me down as a guy who votes pass on that idea. Its either DH or find another team. Sure his bat probably comes back. The terrible defense and multiyear contract that he would require isn't work the risk.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) Pods is looking to get one last big contract. Its a smart move on his part, but I can't see him getting nearly as much as he thinks. I am glad the Sox aren't chasing it. Boers and Berstein are talking about how Pods wanted a 2 year 15 million dollar deal.

Al: Bud, sit down. Let me tell you the story of the Ferguson. Now these babies were made in Maine, you know, at the little Ferguson factory. It's the Stradivarius of toilets. And my Dad could play it like a violin. Yup, I'll never forget the time my dad took me to Maine to visit the factory. I had to go to the bathroom. And I begged him to pull into a truck stop. He said no, wait until we get there! It'll be worth it! It was! Bud: Excuse me, Dad, but a toilet is a toilet. Al: (grimacing) Bud... the toilets today aren't worthy of the name! They come in designer colors... they're too low! When you flush them, they make this weak, almost apologetic sound. But not the Ferguson. It only comes in white. And when you flush it... BaaaWOOOSH! That's a man's flush, Bud. A Ferguson says, "I'm a toilet. Sit down and give me your best shot." Oh, if only a Ferguson could speak, the tales it would tell!

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 09:45 AM) Alright, so I havent been on soxtalk as much the past couple months as much as an admin should and nobody has probably even noticed . I kinda been stuck on this girl who I am really into and she takes a lot of the space in my head and there really isnt much to occupy in the first place. But now I feel like I might be reaching a new low with letting this woman consume me. I have told her from the start (and mostly because she is an african american woman and I needed to make sure this very thing didnt happen) that I HATE anything Tyler Perry. So of course yesterday she asked me if I would go with her and her two friends she wants me to meet to see one of his new movies. I said noooo that sounds like a girls night out I wouldnt want to intrude. She says they were the ones who invited me and it would be kinda rude if I didnt go. (Thinking in my head...woman have you not heard my multiple confessions of how much I hate Tyler Perry!). So I am going tonight to this piece of crap movie and I know I should have taken a stand. I know what you guys will say I should have done but REALLY what would you have done and consider the fact that I really care about this chick unlike the other girls I just played like fiddles. You are screwed. You have to see the movie. But remember you need to flip this so it works out for you. She needs to make it up to you for putting you through Perry madness. The Answer to this riddle Shipps was quoted in the movie Love Stinks.

Sox acquire Mark Teahen, $$$ for Getz/Fields
southsideirish71 replied to pmcochr's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:08 PM) Have you seen Mark play right field? He is a lousy outfielder and assuming Dye returns to the way Dye used to hit, the tradeoff would be horrific in right field. I'm assuming Teahen will be a utility man for us; that's what I'm hoping. I'm just telling you what I know here. Royals fans do not like Teahen. He is not an everyday player on a team with hopes of winning anything significant. Teahen would be a very useful backup however as many have pointed out. I'd rather have him as a backup than say, Nix. My question to you is: Should Royals fans be hopeful Fields can become something? I'm not flaming, just asking those of you to comment on Fields outside of Chicago. Is there any hope for him to be be good? Teahen isn't a great OF and I have seen him play. However as bad as you think he is, he is a better OF than Dye. I don't think it sinks in how bad of an OF Dye is at this point in his career. You would have a difficult time finding a regular OF that plays worse defense than Dye. As far as Fields goes. He has lots of power. His problem is the fact that he cannot make contact with fastballs above 90 mph on a consistant basis. He tried cutting down on his swing earlier in the year and it was a disaster. He has a hitch in his swing that needs to be fixed. If anything, he should platoon and face lots of lefties. His defense is better than it was, however is still not good. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) The Sox hopefully will say Teahen is a super sub. A tradeoff Dye for Teahen in right field would be f***ing ridiculous. It would be a huge step backward for our team. Greg, A cardboard cutout is better than Dye out in RF. Dye is a horrible horrible horrible horrible defensive RF. Teahan is a better RF than him and he is a utility type guy. -
Considering that abortion clinics have a problem reporting sexual abuse as required by law, how do we think they are going to do with informing parents. They probably will swear up and down that the 10 year old on her bicycle looks 18.

Speculation: Johnny Damon to White Sox?
southsideirish71 replied to almagest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) Damon can't field just like Pods. Is he an upgrade? No. You are right. I don't remember seeing Damon bounce a ball off his head instead of catching it. Damon isn't afraid of the wall in the outfield as well. Its not like Damon is a great OF and all, but come on now Greg do you really think that Pods is good in the OF. Pods is a joke defensively. -

QUOTE (T R U @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 02:55 AM) Wrong, you can waste all of those kids at that town that is run by all kids. Either way, I didn't mean kill kids in fable, I just meant that you could kill civilians.. If you did bad things in fable, you became a bad person that was a thing IN the game. So stealing from and killing innocent people was somewhat promoted and I know thats the way I went with it. Either way, I doubt youre killing kids in MW2 and were on the same page here anyways. And anyway you wanna look at it, the terrorists get killed and good wins in the end anyways. In Infamous/Prototype you can power up by killing people sometimes innocents walking around. In Infamous there is a karma meter that you can either choose to become a hero or a villain. Its part of the game. In the end, all people are doing are using a set of pixels to erase another set of pixels from your screen. Its not reality. These games are not meant for children anyway. So as an adult I can choose or not to play the game. If kids are playing the game, then that is on their parents.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) I finished Uncharted 2 a few days ago, I'm shocked the game has as much replay value as it does, it's a ton of fun the second time around. Uncharted 2 is awesome. The single player and multiplayer are pretty rich. So far on my 2nd month of being on the PS3 I have been pretty happy with the game play. I finished Infamous a few weeks ago. That was an awesome game.
