  1. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 02:38 AM) Whats your live account so I know to avoid you at all costs. Well, I will still have a bit of respect for you as long as youre not also a spawn camper I just run around and randomly engage people. Unless you are sniping, just sitting somewhere and waiting for someone is kind of boring. MW2 has a lot of campers. I hate camping, and I especially hate spawn campers. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 07:03 AM) I hate getting stabbed in MW2. One dude stabbed me like 5 times in a row. He was stalking me. I love melee knifing. The only thing better than just running around stabbing people randomly in a full sprint is knifing a sniper.
  2. MW2 on the 360 has been a pretty good game to me. Much better than the previous MW game. I have hit the point where you either stay at 70 or you hit prestige mode. I don't have unlimited free time with kids and work and all so I think that about does it as far as moving forward. I will stay with 70 and just jack my guns up a bit more. I get a kick out of some of the perk setups. I love thee Marathon Pro, Lightweight Pro, and Commander Pro perks mix where you are basically super fast stabby guy who launches like 5 to 7 feet when you stab someone. I had a 42 and 7 deathmatch never taking out my gun. Now onto my new purchase MAG for the PS3. Kind of an interesting game so far. It plays a lot more like MW2 than the old socom games from Zipper. So far its a sniping game. Sniping is pretty damn easy and unlike a lot of other first person shooters. They dont give away the kill position. You don't just jump into the large 256 person maps. You start out with a 64 person squad based in deathmatch type games. Then you unlock the 128 person games, and then the 256 person games. So far no lag which is my big worry with the large games. This will be something to keep me busy for a bit as I think MW2 is starting to run its course for me. The next big game on the list is Bad Company 2. I have been playing the beta/demo and it plays pretty well. Thats going to a pretty damn great game for the 360.
  3. With Pierre and our rotating DH. The only thing this signing does is allow them to compete with us better.
  4. Never leave home without my 32 gig usb stick. All personal or work documentation is encrypted by either Truecrypt or as an encrypted Apple dmg file.
  5. Happy Birthday Guys. Hope you had a great one.
  6. Leon Phelps can help everyone with the Ladies.
  7. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 12:44 AM) I think Hester would be fine as a 3rd WR, lets him focus mostly on special teams as well. Greg Olsen would be fine he can mask as a TE and option out into the slot often. The Bears do need to add one impact WR though, Aroshmadu(sp?) can be the 2nd guy but whether its TO, Marshall, or whoever we need a number 1 for the offense to work. This offense is extremely difficult in the verbage it uses as well as the large amount of plays/motion/ and formation. Hester had a hell of a time getting the generic west coast offense down, and it was dumbed down for a while for him. This is a completely different beast. He is getting paid too much as a special teams/3rd receiver type. If he is that to you, then he will get you more value in a trade that he will provide returning kicks on your team. Daniel Manning and Johnny Knox did a pretty good job returning this year. TE's in Martz's system block, and thats about it. There is no masking as a TE, you block because you need to give Cutler as much time as the receivers run deep complicated routes. I would love a true number one WR. I just dont see where that comes from.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 11:44 PM) I don't mind getting a younger Josh Beekman at Center which he was drafted and groomed for. If that means Kreutz (and other guys old/still younger I.E. Hester) are gone for draft picks to help, then I would not mind at all. Of course that won't happen though. I gotta say I like the hire too, but what does this mean for Greg Olsen? In a Martz run offense, TE usually catch/see only about 40 balls receiving a season. (most of the time they are blocking in his scheme) I don't think Greg will be catching 60+ again next season, but hopefully it's enough to give him some touches since he is a very good match-up threat. I woudl turn Greg Olsen into a WR. He has the speed and the height to be a nice receiver. He can't block that well and hasn't transitioned that well to being a blocking TE. I think just allowing him to focus on running routes and catching the ball will turn him into something pretty good. Devin Hester must be traded. As great as his physical skills are, there is no way he is grasping this complex offense. He had a hard time picking up a generic offense. Ditch the painted dirt and get field turf in here. Whats the point of drafting all of these fast guys only to watch them slip and fall the minute a concert happens in late October.
  9. Peavy. The reason is that you want your best pitcher facing your division the most. Peavy would miss the first twins series if we pitched him 2nd. And before people get on the, well its only April. The last 2 years have showed you that game 163 can happen especially in a mediocre division with flawed teams. Any chance you get to put your divisional opponents, specifically the twins and tigers down the better. Mark had a 5.85 ERA against the twinks last year. Lets see what Peavy brings to the table.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Windows 7 is f***ing awesome. Its probably the best Windows OS that has come out. Hopefully when we deploy it to our users it will stop a lot of the nonsense issues that they run into with XP/Vista. Microsoft still needs to address at some point their security model. A wrapper/layer similar to SE-Linux or a chroot jail that could isolate and sandbox the browser and its plugins from the OS would be nice. That would turn this into a first rate OS.
  11. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) Why can I find anything apple makes, for like half the price from other places? Why would I pay 1000+ for a macbook when I can pay like 600 for a laptop from Dell with windows. They overprice everything they make, but I can't blame them because for some reason people buy the stuff. What I meant by no one needing it is I don't need a new ipod everytime a new generation comes out. I'm sure Ipad 2.0 isn't that far away because they always come out with new stuff for people to buy when the old ones are still perfectly capable. No one is arguing that Apple doesn't overprice their hardware. Most people buy Apple's systems for their software not for the hardware. Sure there are those that like the pretty in the Apple system. They are nice looking. However I for one would buy a Dell laptop if it ran the Apple's OS X. However it doesn't so I bought the Macbook pro. And sure I could run whatever variant flavor of the day Linux OS on the Dell laptop. Hell I have done this already. And when it comes down to it, OS X is a hell of an OS and works well. The only reason I run OS X today is due to Jobs bringing back NeXT as the foundation of OSX and it running on Intel. The NeXT integration to me is one of the most important inovations at Apple. As far as newer versions of stuff. Blame Moores law. In the end no one is forcing anyone to purchase anything. You are happy with X product and its features, then keep it. Inovation in products however is part of the game. When X version III comes out and you look over at the 10 new features then you have to weigh it on your own. Are these new features something that I want enough to purchase a new product. I had a Gen I Ipod. I didnt upgrade until I saw the video Ipod classic. The new stuff for people to buy is part of this industry. Just check out the computer industry in general its all over.
  12. These would be a lot more watchable if they told congress to keep their buts in their seats until the speech is over. Its the same thing no matter who is president. Whatever party the president is in, spends half the time jumping up and clapping like they never heard of such awesomeness. The other side has a grumpy look on their face. This years mini-SOTU that the republicans ran afterwards was stupid as well. Nancy Pelosi had some sort of facial tick thing going on. That was scary.
  13. The lack of multi-tasking is a bit puzzling. I doubt if the decision is OS based more as if its hardware based. I wonder if the issue is with their custom chipset. The other issue is the resolution. How did they miss the boat on not making this 16:9. As far as where this fits in the overall computer hierarchy. This is a minimal computing device not a laptop. It runs some video, some audio, allows people to surf and get their email and run some apps and has a primary ereader capability. This is not for running heavy processing apps or as a front end for business. I wouldn't recommend this, or any atom based netbook for anything but casual use. They are both toys of convenience that have use as a peripheral web browsing/audio device. The tablet format will make this a better ereader. The tablet format however will drive people nuts when they actually try to type. I have a feeling as cool as the multi touch screen is, it will have the same issues that the Blackberry storm has versus the blackberry. People get used to the feel of a keyboard. And its hard to get away from that. As far as heavy duty video conferencing/word processing/etc. This is what it is. This is not a primary replacement for your laptop. It is a media/web browsing device. If you put it into that context its a lot easier. Its the same argument I had with people at my work when netbooks are brought up, usually around budgeting. Why should we get this base model laptop when I can save all sorts of money with this 300 dollar netbook. A 300 dollar netbook running a crappy atom processor is not in the same class as the typical multicore intel proc with multiple gigs of ram.
  14. I need to see this at an Apple store where I can actually play with it for a bit before I make my purchase. But so far, not bad. I have been looking for a E Reader for a few years to house documentation from vendors in one place. Most of my tech books have the ability to deliver their content in E Reader/PDF format. Consider that most of the high end ereaders are in a similar place when it comes to price it looks pretty attractive. It will be interesting to see the IPad ( god why not ISlate ) only apps that come out. All I need is an ssh app or a terminal app and I am set to roll with this.
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) I was basically the last mod defending him and he bite that hand. He wasn't even smart enough to realize who supported his free wheeling posts and who would be offended. Here is the formula that explains his behavior.
  16. And Thome has agreed to terms with the Twinks.
  17. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) I don't know if it's been mentioned here on soxtalk.com (it probably has) but what about Johnny Damon? He is a lefty, can still play in the field on a part time basis, can still hit, and his price has seemingly dropped like a rock. There's your versatility, Ozzie. At the beginning of the offseason, I was thinking no way. But now that the pickins' are slim.... it might not be a bad idea. I would be warm to a Johnny Damon signing. His numbers are better than the DH by rotation scheme and would give Ozzie some versatility at the top of the lineup. I would rather have Damon right now as the LF and not have made the trade for Pierre.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 09:49 AM) A verizon capable iPhone? Now that's something that might make me buy an apple product. There was one rumor that stated that AT&T exclusivity deal was over and that Apple is working on a CDMA version of the IPhone for Verizon.
  19. Kind of sad. He places a shout out to Fathom, and others but he forgot me.
  20. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) no, i want the sox to win. and ur talking about the same people that were crying all yr how they hated thome and pods. hey, atleast my opinions arent all over. make up ur mind. fine, the season is over bcuz thome isnt coming back. i dont want him bcuz i feel theres still a chance they can get someone better. 'Whoever wants to come to the White Sox as long as I'm here, he's not going to be a full-time DH,'' Guillen said. ''Nobody. I don't care who it is.'' Maybe we should petition to move to the NL, because this type of plan isn't going to work well for the long term in the AL.
  21. I have the same feeling about the rotating DH that I had when we decided to use a punter for leadoff because he was extra grindy. If they don't want Thome fine, but to leave the DH in the American league to Group 4 is kind of insane. Heres to hoping that Andru Jones finds his power stroke.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) By the way this is the stupidest off-season since 2007. Pray we dont get the same result. The scary thing is to think of how in game strategy is going to be affected by this new approach. Hopefully Beckham is as far away from the 2 hole as possible. Because Ozzie will have him bunting until he is blue in the face to advance his 2003 Marlins model. The amount of wasted outs bunting and caught stealing this year are going to be amazing. In 07 Ozzie has his pocket picked on plays all the time when he pretty much had a standard steal from first when there was 2 outs to help get a guy into scoring position. I remember Soscia calling pitch outs and having our runner get pegged a few times in the series because everyone knew it was coming. The rotating DH can work if you have hitters not rotating bench guys.
  23. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/201...earthquake.html haha Damn you Hugo Chavez. You frickin figured out my most Evil plan.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) Ozzie: Sounds to me like he's basically saying, hey, I can have fun with the lineup as is, and do a lot of things. But he's also not saying, anywhere in there, that we won't have a DH. This is why headline writers drive me nuts. The headline says one thing, his quotes say another. Here is another quote that is more clear on the subject.
