QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) Last year, he started doing that a bit more. He actually hit some soft liners and ground balls to the far left side, on occasion, as I recall. He even attempted a bunt that direction once. His spray chart over the years has been interesting. If he hits the ball on the ground he pulls it like crazy. If he hits it in the air its more gap to gap leaning towards left center.

Tim Tebow to appear in anti-abortion Super Bowl ad
southsideirish71 replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) I think we should hold judgement. If the commercial is simply choose life and family...is that so wrong? I could see if they're showing embryos or something, but if it's in good taste and is simply a matter of choose life, why is that bad. If your pro choice does that mean you push for and encourage abortions?? I'm not sure what the issue here is, when we don't even know what the commercial is about. If it was some shock and awe pro life campaign, I would suspect it wouldn't get approved and it shouldn't. I would consider myself for the most part pro-life. My issue with this is impact of a superbowl ad over using the money for more urgent purposes. I would say that Tim would get the same message out and press if he said we were planning on purchasing an ad to promote Life however it is needed more to save lives today so we are using this for the crisis in Haiti or some other needed charity or service. A 30 second ad in the middle of 2 of the usual superbowl ads will make the message forgettable at best. Its their money in the end, I just would like to see it get put to better use. -

QUOTE (Soxy @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) What's the point? Famous (oft-crying) quarterback tells people not to get an abortion? Oh yeah, that will work. I mean, I for one always base intimate decisions on famous college athletes. GMAFB, views on abortion aren't going to be changed by this. What a waste of 30 seconds of my life and millions of dollars. And Soxy for the win. If he took the money that is wasted on this and donated it to the Haitian relief fund or helped out the orphans down there with their adoption process he would get all of the self promoting pub he wanted and still did something tangible with the money. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) So they will run a commercial by extreme right wing homophobic group Focus on the Family, but PETA can't run an ad promoting the benefits of eating vegetables. Peta's adds are either some naked chick holding a sign that says I don't wear fur which can't be shown on regular tv for obvious reasons or the always fun chicken farm overlay with a concentration camp. Its not just an ad that has dancing vegetables. If Peta had a normalized ad it could be shown on TV, but that doesn't work for them. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 09:14 AM) How the heck is that an appropriate setting for pushing one's religious and political views? EDIT: And how funny that you objectify women AND want to tell them what to do with their bodies. You're one step closer to being a member of the Taliban. First of all this commercial is going to get zero attention as it will be squeezed in between Danica Patrick and 3 other chicks in leather talking about how Godaddy.com got them enhanced and some comedic animated animals doing a dance for some other vendor's commercial. Secondly, appropriate. Again its the superbowl. There is no such thing as appropriate and commercials at the superbowl. For my personal views. I think its a waste of money. The money would be better off if Tim Tebow donated it to either a charity or to an organization that promoted adoption. -
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) Last week I was amazed at how different the area between Kohls on LaGrange and Target has changed. I live so close to Orland, yet I've haven't been around recently since I always go to Chicago Ridge Mall if I need anything. I'll have to try out these burger joints. Personally, I like Burger King's hamburgers. Rosie's off 103rd and Cicero has good burgers, as well. Really, everything there is great. Rosies is great. I can't count the times that my brother and I would roll in there for a late night food run. That and getting a big baby burger at Nickys on Pulaski in Alsip is another good joint. Wonderburger on 111th and Kedzie is pretty good as well. Red Robin is pretty good as well. The ones I have been too haven't had the screaming kids. But I usually go at night. In my neck of the woods. Margies at 65th and Cass is pretty damn awesome. Their double cheeseburger is great. For a cheapo burger. Dock Ryans in Elmhurst had, dont know if they still do, dollar burgers on Saturday. And they were pretty damn good.

Certifications are a funny thing. The true importance to vendor and industry certs to an individual are to get past the HR gatekeepers at most companies. When you send your resume in for most companies, its most likely not read but entered in a resume filtering program. If you hit enough of their buzzwords and base criteria then you get eyes on the resume. Now if you work for a consulting company thats where a cert may have some real value. Most consulting companies have some sort of reseller agreement with a manufacturer and to get to certain discount levels they are required to have so many certified people for X product. Microsoft/Cisco from the networking side will get you your best saturation level. Most companies are running either one of the two. There are plenty of free virtualization programs out there to help you create a mini lab to learn different technologies. The big thing is to get the basics down and learn how things function and why. You can build on a good core. Again having a good atitude and a yearning to learn are key components that will make you successful start in this industry. I will put a list of some resources for you including websites/links to downloads/book lists that can get you started and send it off via PM for you.

Our company has used Camtasia for a while for demo's and user education. Same people who bring Jing to the table. I believe there is a Jing pro that has more features a well.

This threads bump timing is pretty good. I was just about to post something in here asking about Protein shakes. My Whey Protein tub from GNC is about finished and I remember Rock talking about Muscle Milk. I was going to poll what people use. For me, its about keeping weight on. I am a diabetic who runs a lot to keep my glucose count in a reasonable level. I burn up a ton of calories as I am running from 40 minutes to an hour at 7.0 to 8.0 mph. I am thin enough and don't want to drop weight so I usually drink a protein shake an hour before my run, and then one 20 minutes after my run to keep from wasting away. I look for something that is going to be kind to my system, and not have a lot of carbs ( not good for diabetics ) and saturated fat.

Maybe its 30 years of Global Cooling. UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change member professor Mojib Latif - the globe is now in a "cold mode" which could see temperatures falling for between 20 and 30 years.

When Huet has a bad game, he has bad game. He just gave up 3 goals in 2 minutes, 5 seconds. A 5 -1 lead goes to 5-4. Too many long rebounds. Huet just gave up the 5th goal. Jesus christ. Now it goes to OT. Hard to believe a 5-1 lead in the 3rd is now going to OT. -
I just told our resident KC fan at work. He cursed. Pods patrolling all that area in CF for KC.

I would take a look at the Metra schedules in the suburbs you are looking at as well. If you can find a suburb that has express trains you will save a lot of time on your commute. I can get downtown from the BNSF Metra train on Main Street in Downers in 30 minutes on an express. Also take the time to hit the website for the town you wish to live in and peruse their laws/utilities/by-laws. Coming from the Southside the biggest thing I had to adapt to was the silly western suburb garbage sticker policy. In the city, growing up, whatever you dragged to the alley just magically got picked up. In the western burbs, you have to sticker everything at a price per sticker. I got around this years ago by purchasing contractor grade garbage bags. I pretty much have garbage bags that are the size of people I can drag down to the curb. Also make sure that whatever house you look at, get a Radon test. We had 2 deals go south when the Radon results came back scary, and the owners didn't want to do anything about it.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 04:37 AM) I'd be surprised if he gets much gametime for Everton, although they have been ravaged by injury. Don't think he'd played ahead of Jo or Louis Saha, while Tim Cahill and Bilanetdov (know I didn't spell that right) play the AMC in Moyes' 4-4-1-1 system. He will come off the bench as an extra attacker if they are down or tied late in the game. The only way he starts is if his fitness level is good, and he has good results and a good work rate. -
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) I feel like that is definitely the trend. I love Patagonia. I did get a North Face vest from my brother for Christmas, though, which is pretty warm even in this cold weather. I feel like everyone is in a uniform in Winter around Chicago. Everyone has black north face jackets. Hell I actually own one. I picked up a columbia last year just to be a bit different when my last North Face needed replacement. We are going to pick up the wife a new jacket at the end of the season ( when we usually buy our winter coats ). I will have to add Patagonia into the mix.

With either Bates or Martz, this offense will got on attack. The next step is to get that green painted mudd replaced with Field Turf. Field Turf is an important step in the offseason. Having a speed attack type offense when your receivers are going to fall down, slip due to green painted mudd or planting sod in December is not going to work. -
QUOTE (NIUSox @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 01:13 AM) When my nephew came over to my house a couple of days ago I busted out the original TMNT cartoons and now he absolutely loves them and won't stop talking about them. I rotate different cartoons to see what hits and what doesn't. This month I have rotated the "Pinky and the Brain" and the "Animaniacs" to the PS3. My son loves Pinky and the Brain, and has no use so far for Animaniacs. About 2 months ago I had rotated My Little Pony for my daughter and she loved it so much its pretty much the bulk of her Christmas toys that she got. She loves that show.

The cartoon selection back in the 70s/80s are so much better than what kids get today. Kids of today are really at a disadvantage to their programming. It seems that most programming today is targetted at really small children or the teen/adult crowd. I have done my best to purchase or locate the content from my youth to help my children see some of the cool stuff that I grew up with. So far my son has really fallen in love with a lot of the same programs that I grew up with. Sure kids today have the cartoon network but there is only so many times you can see Spongebob Squarepants, Chowder, and the other silly things that get repeated like 30 times a day. The current Saturday morning programming is a joke. Thank god for streaming internet sites, dvd collections, and media platforms like my ps3 to help bring this content to the current generation. Bugs Bunny/Road Runner show Voltron (Vehilcle and Lion ) Robotech Thundercats Superfriends Battle of the Planets Ultraman/Spectraman Mighty Mouse Tennesse Tuxedo Woody Woodpecker Hell Tex Avery cartoons in general Tom and Jerry Peabody and Sherman Show Rocky and Bullwinkle Captain Caveman Scooby Doo Dynamutt The Bannana Split show Magilla Gorilla Atom Ant Wonderbug Hong Kong Fooey Popeye Show Hell TV programming in general has changed to the wrong side now. Friday and Saturday night used to have actual programming as it was family night. I miss sitcoms, I mis s the Saturday night TV programming. I am sick and tired of damn reality TV. We are at the 7th level of hell in reality TV programming when some of the B list celebrities are getting reality shows. There is actually a show called Conveyorbelt of Love on TV. This is when you see we have reached maximum meatball status.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) Personally, I wouldn't give up my PS3 for anything simply because of its ability as a media server and hub. I can either stream video and music from my PC to my PS3 or -- and more importantly -- quickly transfer a few seasons of several TV shows and a bunch of movies to an external hard drive then plug that into to the PS3 (any properly formatted external hard drive will do, Sony doesn't care) and instantly be watching media off the 1 TB hard drive or swap out the internal hard drive of the PS3 itself upgrading my memory to 500 gigs of space (without voiding the warranty) and transfer media to PS3's hard drive and watch my TV shows from there. It's just an incredibly powerful and versatile media server. Not to mention the whole outstanding exclusive baseball game thing which is a pretty big deal for me personally. I have a 360 and purposely picked up the PS3 to use for Media purposes. Its probably the top shelf bluray player and the media capabilities are through the roof. Its nice to pick up some PS3 only content like the upcoming Mag as well. I just ported over one of my media libraries to a 1TB device and just had my son watching some great cartoon content off of the PS3. Its a great device and has so much upside. The graphics are better than the 360. The live environment on the 360 however is better than the PS3's online environment. As a person who has had the ability to have both I am a pretty happy camper. They complement each other very well.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) I never fulfilled my dream of playing the grand prize game on Bozo. This is my 15 minutes of fame. Friends of our family put in for the tickets years and years back and let me and my cousin come along. I got picked for the grand prize game. Got to the 4th bucket before I missed it. Once I got past the 3rd bucket I got false hope that I was going to win the whole damn thing. I won some small items like a family board game. I walked out of there with some cool stuff, but in reality I didn't respect it because I was bummed I didnt win the grand prize which was a bike. I remember thinking that it would be on the next week on TV but it look like 6 months for it to show up on TV. This thread is cool just to jog some old memories. I need to locate the VHS tape at my dads house of this so I can convert it to DVD for my kids to see.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) in order to play games on your computer, you had to enter in the command LOAD"*",8,1 And pressing play on the tape drive as that was the medium that held your programs on the Commadore 64. QBasic 4 evah. I actually remember encountering one of these at my first job...

According to the Comcast post game show, the hot dog vendors little sidekick Jiggets thinks that we should bring back Turner because it was the QB and not the play calling that cost the season. Turner did a bang up job according to Jiggets. The defense and everything has been fine. Its only the QBs fault. If we only had a Kyle Orton according to the hot dog vendor and his sidekick we would be on the way to the playoffs. Jim Miller of course thinks that bringing back Turner is a wonderful idea and if anything only Pep Hamilton should be gone. Everything should be the same as this year. Just add a safety and poof fixed.
