White Sox about to sign Bartolo Colon?
southsideirish71 replied to chisox2334's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wonder how this impacts the members of the food staff. With Bobby, Uribe and now Colon they better drop the food and step back or a fork might bury them in their hand. Team Beefcake -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) Owens goal this year is for 65 stolen bases... Let's hear the love! Willie Harris made the same type of prediction at Soxfest a few years back. How did that work out. I hope that Owens is our 4th OF and Quentin is in LF. If Owens our leadoff guy then Ozzie BSd everyone with his OBP hype and really wanted his bantam weight track star who cant get on base.

QUOTE(JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 09:40 PM) Wow. You care WAYYY to much about people having interest in Crede (who is a very likable guy may I add). People like Crede, and hope he can stay, big whoop. You don't need to bash everyone for liking a player, especially considering your signature. Seems you should know about cult icons on the team. You want him to stay. Convince him within a short period of time to fire his agent Boras who will get him riches, and take a contract that will be slighted towards the whitesox. Eitherwise say goodbye your likeable guy. -
Here is my crush list not in any order. You may or may not agree but this is my personal list. 1.) Molly Sims - sigh - One of the many reasons I watch the show Las Vegas 2.) Kate Beckinsale - Looks great in black leather 3.) Allesandra Ambrosio - One of the many hot Victoria Secret Angels 4.) Adriana Lima - again another hot VS Angel 5.) Karolina Kurkova - See 3 and 4 6.) Megan Fox - Very Nice 7.) Petra Nemcova - Very nice On my list because they are local and are on my crush list. 8.) Ginger Zee - She should do the weather all the time. 9.) Ana Devlantes - The 10 oclock news would be perfect if she and Ginger were on it by themselves dressed like twins wrestling in oil. Last but definately not least 10.) Martina McBride - Love her music and she has the most amazing eyes.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) What makes people think Crede can obtain us draft picks? First off there's no chance he'll become a type A, and I don't know how good of season he'll have to have just to become a type "B" free agent which would net us one supplemental pick. Big whoop. People have this romantic idea that Crede will have a great season, look at the sox insignia, see the people with the banners saying "Stay Crede" and he and Boras will have a change of heart and sign a long term deal for a reasonable amount of money. Fantasy and bulls***. -

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) c'mon, joe might bring some nice draft picks, some sleepers overlooked in the first few rounds. but seriously, if you had to trade one right now, who would bring more value? When a team is completely devoid of a position prospect and has a payroll in excess of 100 million dollars they dont trade one of their only guys who are cheap and so far have shown a propensity to hit at the major league level with power. Trading Fields and keeping a Boras client would be dumb. You will have Pablo Ozuna or some retread over at 3rd next year if you did that. Because Mr. Boras doesnt negotiate. Your boy is going to FA. -

The better poll is the number of threads that members of the Joe Crede fan club make up to attempt to sway people who have no say in the matter into keeping a player that is going to walk anyway. Crede's fanclub will be just as bad at the Rowand fan club. 3 year down the road we will see crap about how Brooks Robinson Jr. got away. This was inevitable the minute he proceeded with Boras as his agent. Its not like this is a shock that the sox and boras dont mix. Yet the fan club wants belief to be tossed aside for good faith and hope. I like Jenks, if Jenks tomorrow signs Boras as an agent I might as well change my sig because he will be moved. Boras+impending FA= traded -
NBA to hold outdoor game in preseason

This coming from the same league who backed off a synthetic ball because all of the players b****ed that the ball felt different. Now they are going to try and make shots with a wind. Good luck with that. The excuse engine will be on high that night. -

I was the willing participant of a 4 stripper(one at at time) private lap dance including the feature act at the time Cheyenne Silver(last but definitely not least) of Wicked Pictures, all bought and paid for by Ron Jeremy who was doing his standup act at the Industrial Strip in Indiana. Andy Dick was there hanging out with Ron for whatever reason. My brother drunk off his butt asked him, what the hell are you doing here aren't you gay.

Coop was on the radio today talking about how they are working with Danks on his cutter. That is the key pitch for that kid. He also raved about how good Floyd has looked so far. Hopefully both of them work out.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) The U.S. has recognized Kosovo as an independent nation. Britain and France have done the same, and Germany says sort of "We're working on it". Greece, Spain, and Romania say they will not do so. Maybe Britain should spend a little less time recognizing countries like this, and more work on unifying countries that they sacked and split apart. God forbid if the commonwealth dropped 6 counties. /rant

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 07:15 AM) I'm not knocking the technology - it is the mindset that is outmoded. They are intended for air-to-air combat with a Cold War superpower that no longer exists. Our enemy now doesn't fly hundred-million dollar jet planes. they plant $25 roadside bombs and strap explosives to themselves. Rolling out more B-22s is an excellent way of tackling that problem, and highly cost effective too. With all the US soldiers dying because their body armor sucks and their vehicles aren't armor-plated, I for one think the $300 million a pop for B-22s could be better spent actually equipping our soldiers for fighting today's enemy, not the enemy of 20 years ago. You are glossing over the fact that Russians and Chinese have been working on Stealth technology as well as fighter jet improvements. And that these countries sell to a lot of countries that we have issues with. But sure we should keep rolling with 30 year old F14s and F15s because of the cost. The fleet is old and its time to upgrade. We wont be fighting opponents that have a roadside bomb all the time. Some of them actually have an army and fight with military strength. Its like any company doing R&D, you make an investment for the future because you dont want the future to become to present and you find yourself in the past. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 11:28 AM) Isn't it at least possible that some combination of the general suckitude of Andy Gonzalez, Darin Erstad, Gustavo Molina, and the injured versions of Jermaine Dye and Joe Crede and Toby Hall and Scott Podsednik played a big role? The one thing I think I can say positive about Walker's work last year is that the guys who really seemed to need him...the young guys...actually seemed to come up, learn a few things, and perform. Fields, Owens, Richar, all seemed to trend positive with the bat given enough time in the big leagues. Naturally, you evaluate it every year. If this team stinks with the bat again this year despite upgrades...then by all accounts it'll be time for a new voice. Richar came up making solid contact not striking out. Then after some walk time his power went up, and he started whiffing. With a no stride swing he shouldnt K that much. He has been quoted saying that he didnt do anything with Fields because he had the swing that got him here. He would make adjustments in the spring. Dont worry when its cold in April we can blame the cold, then in May its the pressure and they are not playing loosey goosey, then in June it will be something else. His team is upgraded offensively so if they suck with the stick and have a problem scoring runs then its time to drop this guy quickly.

QUOTE(Vance Law @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 10:58 AM) You can call it rotten. I'd say it was on the bad side of medium- finishing 8th and 9th in OPS and runs out of 14 in the AL. A healthy Tank Thomas likely would have pushed us into the top half. I hope you have increasingly bad-sounding adjectives for the 5 or 6 worse offenses. Whatever we do, we shouldn't blame the hitters for their hitting. Well we could blame the weather, a perfect storm, pressure, or whatever else Walk attributed to hitting bad last year instead of the hitters sucked and their coach had no clue.
-
QUOTE(Vance Law @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 10:41 AM) Past season. If you want to give Greg Walker all of the blame for the Sox poor hitting last year, you're going to have to give him all of the credit for their great hitting in 2006. Then I can give him the blame for the crappy hitting of 2005. That was glossed over because of the championship. That offense was rotten.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 10:09 AM) inb4ssi LMAO I would say its the results that matter more than what he did as a hitter. I just dont like what I see as an organizational approach since Walk took over. I also didnt like what the minor league instruction was doing as well. They have made moves there so I will have to wait and see if we get a different approach with the hitters as they come up. My opinion on the subject of Walk is well known. I just hope that Richar finds Hrniak at camp before Lift and Pull convinces him that he needs to be a power guy. Richar needs to be a line drive type hitter. Get on base and use your speed. Occasional power is nice for him. But I dont think 30 homers when I see Richar. And watching him swing for the fences after some Walk tutorial will sicken me for 08. Uribe also should bypass the Walk route. Project Uribe 2007 was a failure, its time to let someone who has had success work with him to get that leg kick timer working again.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 09:11 PM) It seems they would have the technology to not display unless someone clicked on the image. That might be a compromise. Or they could just deal with it and move on. I hope none of them use google's image search.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 12:06 AM) Health issues? Joe had back surgery and is healed. It isn't a career ending issue as it might have been 10-20 years ago Well can you give us the rest of your prospectus on the recovery doctor, or are you speaking as a member of the Joe Crede 4 life fan club. He is going away. I suggest you get used to that before you become like the Rowand fan club.
