QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 01:40 PM) They should have him come out to work with Uribe. f*** that, have him work with Richar before Mr. lift and pull destroys him. If there is anyone on the team that is ready for a Hrniak approach its Richar. Lets work on the future first and then worry about the trade bait another day.

Aardsma Traded to Red Sox for 2 Minor Leaguers

QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 12:23 PM) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/press_re...sp&c_id=bos For those that didn't think the Sox would get anything for him - TWO....that's TWO single A pithcers that have been playing pro ball for 4 years and couldn't get above A. Mota was an outfielder that they converted. Supposedly he has 95 mph heat. He was rated their best outfield arm back in 04. From Soxprospects.com Willy Mota Miguel Socolovich had TJ surgery in 05. -
QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 12:09 AM) Good post. A friend of mine went this year. (casual fan you can say) He never heard/knew who Quentin was (just knows/follows the sox no other teams, even though he didn't know who Fields was either ) and now is proclaiming him as his favorite player after soxfest. Hellova guy from what I've heard. Swish was supposedly shy, but he is dealin with us Chicagoans afterall..heh.. n was coo too. Wish I would have went. Maybe next season. This season will have a very loose, friendly, crazy characters filled with young n old guys. At last years Soxfest Fields, Owens and Sweeney were signing in a room together. Fields took the time to personalize items for the person. That was a nice touch.

I have a breed I will warn about. Do not buy Toto. I bought a Cairn Terrier. If you like a howly barky dog, then go for it. My dog is a loving dog and is great with our kids. But it can drive you absolutely nuts with the howling. 3 oclock in the morning, and she goes into a death howl. You could be 3 feet from her watching TV and the dog will howl. If you let her out in the yard, its a barkfest. She will continuously bark, sometimes just to hear herself bark. This has made me very popular with my neighbors. I thought it was isolated to our dog, but I found out after talking to other Cairn owners that their dogs howl and bark a lot like mine. My dog howls so loud that the neighbors complained about her when she would be home alone. You can hear her from 2 houses down when all the windows are closed. Now on the plus side with this dog, if you want your yard free from all wildlife such as mice, rabbits, ground squirrels, garter snakes, brown and grey squirrels, birds, and even the random cat, then Toto is your dog. Very smart and determined little hunter. Now if she would shut up a bit she would be fine.

The only way Danny wins the 2nd baseman job if Uribe is on the team, is if Danny shows up with a picnic basket filled with cakes and pies and Uribe eats his right arm shoving them in 5 at a time. In reality the only way is if Danny blows him out of the water. The smart decision is to play Danny and see what we have. Yet Profundo will wind his way as the starter. Hawk will talking him up about how he can carry a team, which is funny considering he cant carry his belly these days. As much as they talk about it. I still remember the fight for centerfield last year that was won by a cripple before ST was out, even though the cripple didnt have a better spring.

Anonymous takes on the "Church" of Scientology
southsideirish71 replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in SLaM
QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 25, 2008 -> 11:23 AM) A group of elite hackers known as "Anonymous" has announced a war on Scientology. Last week they announced their intentions via a YouTube video (shown below) and last weekend took the Scientology website down for the entire weekend! More information is available in this Wired.com article. DDoS attacks and defacements on the corporate website are more annoyances than anything. Large scale ones are rare. I was subjected to one at a company for 3 months. And it slowed that circuit down. We moved all of our operations within a day to another internet circuit they didnt know about. We were up and running and they were pissing into the wind. Most companies that have money or a group like this that has unlimited funds doesnt keep their website and their companies infrastructure on the same subnet or same circuits. Now if they were able to get some malware that fortified itself behind their firewalls, that could call out sure that would be something. But again, we are assuming that their internet security people are asshats and allow everyone internally to go anywhere the want. This attack most likely will be an annoyance, but I doubt if this does anything to their operations. My feeling is this group of kiddies watched Z3r0 C00l on the movie Hackers one two many times. Most hacking groups dont announce their intentions to the world. All you need to do is to look into the spam botnet industry. Hackers are into making money now, not being the savior of mankind. -

I love it how the masseuse calls the twig girl(olsen) instead of 9/11. Granted he was dead already, but in the case of an emergency star's entourages are not the bringers of life. Call professionals. I love how Tyler describes Olsen as a bad choice for the phone call.

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread

I dont know if this was mentioned in this thread before. But the victim has a new website. How 2 grown men are attacking a poor defenseless woman, vote for bill( I mean me). Here is Hill and Bill with Resko. -
They should refuse to talk to any reporter associated with the sun times until they fire that assbag Kotex boy. Between he, couch(kotex boys fluffer), carol sleeze, and the rest its not like they are getting a good deal to begin with anyway. Cowley is amusing for them to plant rumors, but they can get another patsy somewhere else.

Official Bring Back Freddy Garica Thread
southsideirish71 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Just make sure that all of his starts are against good teams on the road. Big Game Freddy when healthy is fine, lazy Freddy giving up 6 to 8 against the Royals because he decides to mail it in isnt so good. -
QUOTE(daa84 @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) i would certainly take bedard for jenks...id hate to lose bobby, but if you can get bedard, even with the loss of jenks, i think it would make us serious contenders Bedard is the type of player I could see us moving Bobby for. I would hate to lose Bobby but Bedard is a legit top of the tier type guy.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) Hmmm. I have my network encrypted, for sure... but I wonder if I have someone on the same frequency as me, because my laptop SUCKS balls right now at home, but when I hard wire it in, it flies. Time to change my frequency, or get a booster, one or the other. Download Netstumbler, turn it on a laptop if you have one with a wireless card and walk around your house doing a survey if you can. You should see what is running and what channels they are using. You should get an idea of signal strength of your neighbors on it as well, and you can see if one of your neighbors are sitting in the same frequency. In general practice, you want to avoid the default channels of 1, 6 and 11. They are the most commonly used channels in the 2.4 gigahertz range as they are default for most products.

QUOTE(almagest @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) Depends on if your PS3 has built in wireless support or not. This link provides instructions on how to set it up. As for the router... Newegg is probably the best place to pick up computer hardware online. If you're only going to be using the wireless for gaming on your PS3, go with a wireless g router that has some sort of range boost, and prioritizes gaming traffic. Also ensure that your router supports WPA/WPA2 encryption, and be sure to enable it. It's extremely dangerous to run an unencrypted wireless network. If you're going to use wireless on all your PCs, plan on doing lots of internal file transfers/streaming (streaming music or movies, or running any kind of media PC) if your walls/floors are super thick or you live in an older building with lots of iron, consider a wireless N router for the increased range and transfer speeds. You probably won't even approach 54 mbps while gaming, but your local network could make use of the increased bandwidth. The biggest reason to use N is not the speed, its the ability to drive the signal through the walls via MIMO and the lack of people in the neighborhood using 5 gigahertz. On my block we started off a 2 years ago with me and one other guy using wireless. Now its about 10 to 15 wireless networks running in the same neighborhood. Most people set up their wireless and dont touch it again. So when someone jumps on the same frequency, they wind up with dead spots in their house. The tip about WPA is a great one. Unless you want to have other people using your signal make sure you use WPA or WPA2. And if anyone thinks its difficult or no one would think of using your signal. I was at a party a few weeks ago where the father of my wife's friend who is 65 was telling us how he doesnt need broadband because one of his neighbors has it, and doesnt lock it down. So he is using it for free.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 02:06 PM) I think the guy you were trying to help just put a bullet to his head. LOL, I spent my time talking to engineers too much. I keep forgetting my audience. I will geek it down. 1 802.11n access point or 802.11n router 1 802.11n game adapter(aka bridge) basically this is exactly what I am talking about,. The signal should run through walls, people, sheep, dogs, cats, cockroaches and even asbestos. Netgear Pre-N networking kit for Gaming edit : or something like that. I took a look at the price and they want to get 192 big ones for that. It will run through everything. But you may be better off piecing it together, than buying a kit like that if you are worried about cost. Linksys wireless gaming adapter for 802.11n + a 802.11n access point or router should do the trick as well.

QUOTE(Nunnigan @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) First let me start off and say I'm not much of a tech buff, so bear with me. I got a PS3 earlier this month along with CoD4. After beating the game, I've been itching to play it online. The problem is I dont have an internet connection in my room. The only room in the house that has internet connection is the one right below my room. Now with the questions, can a wireless router reach my PS3 from the room below? Also how much would a wireless router cost? Thanks for any help The answer is that it depends on the construction materials of your house, and the radio frequency use in your area, and items of interference such as microwaves and 2.4 gigahertz phones. The best way to get the density you are looking for is to use either a 5 Gigahertz service such as 802.11A or a dual band service like 802.11n. I would lean towards N because it supports what is called MIMO which specially gives you the ability to traverse through building materials and give the wide spectrum and bandwidth you are looking for. I have my 802.11n access point mounted currently on the support beam for my house in the basement. I have a high concentration of wireless users on my block and it can reach it from everywhere in my 2 story house with great speed. Before I went to N I had a hell of a time getting any signal at my 2nd floor. Another avenue that you may explore would be Power line Ethernet technology. The only key is that the house must be like a single residence. It only works for items behind your electric meter. I have one that I use for connectivity for my work network from my basement to my 2nd floor. It utilizes your electrical subsystem as a transport for tcp/ip or a bridged version of it. I was able to get mine on sale at Fry's for 24 dollars for each side. Now the caveats to it. If you plug a device with a large amp draw, like an Iron. It will kill your signal. So far an Iron is the only device that I have tested that causes that condition. Now for cost, you can go anywheres from 60 dollars for a Buffalo access point with G with MIMO that runs on the 2.4 gigahertz to a Apple 802.11n which runs at $179. Your best bet is to shop around and try and get an internet deal on it. If you have an existing router in the house, you can lower your cost and just get an access point. The existing home router will provide everything else. You just have to plug the AP into your router. Adding a wireless router, and plugging into your existing router is a bad idea as you will have dual NAT running and that will mess with your online traffic. So either replace your existing router with a wireless one, or plug an AP into your existing router.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 08:45 AM) I've seen companies that have cheap monitoring for your back up pump. I use to sell parts to Glentronics in one of the suburbs. IIRC they had a little module that you run a wire from the battery and a little alarm would go off if the battery was failing or out of charge. Thats not the problem. I bought the top of the line Basement Watchdog system. The damn thing runs a self test, tests the motor, has all sorts of audible alarms. The unit can run for 10 hours afterwards on battery and has a higher pump capacity than the primary. I even have both pumps on a APC battery backup system and I have the area rigged with an water alarm system for moisture that emails me. Trust me, my worry is foolish but I cant help myself. Something about looking at 7 green lights on the sump pump backup makes me feel better.

AJ will be very motivated now to beat the Royals, or at least beat up one pitcher. Brett Tomko agree with the Royals on a 1 year deal
-
Everytime I go into my finished basement, I open up a closet in the back where my sump pump is to check if the battery backup pump is functioning. After all the work I put in my basement I am afraid of the sump pump failure. After using an Iron having to check like 5 times that I turned it off. Even though is shuts itself off. Checking my cell phone for power and that its on before I got to bed. I never want to have it where my work cant get ahold of me in an emergency(pretty much on call all the time).
