Joe Crede has Boras as an agent, he is a free agent after this year and there will be no compensation when he leaves. I dont see how this is so difficult for everyone to realize that Joe is going to go. He is going to go, so it is absolutely retarded to put Josh out in left and then bring him back into the infield later in the season. It is also retarded to sent him to AAA to work on whatever. All of these damn scenarios I have read on this and other sox sites about how to slide Josh everywhere so that we can accommodate one player whom everyone forgets is a free agent and has a person that the sox refuse to deal with as his agent. Move on people, he is going to go. Robin Ventura went and he was a hell of a more complete player than Joe has shown. Robin was just as popular, although there was no pictures of him set on the rally monkey's body.

Say no to Prancer and say no to the Nebraska punter. The fact that any of those two had meaningful ABs in September still irritates me.

Well my 3 year crashed the bedroom at 4:45am to inform us that Santa in fact had arrived. I assembled all sorts of toys from 5am. And he has finally started to slow down just about a half an hour ago. When I called my father to inform him of this, he laughs and said Isn't payback a funny thing. Christmas has been great. Last night it was nice watching a room filled with my kids, their cousins enjoying the innocence of Christmas as under 6 year old kids. Merry Christmas to everyone, and have a great and joyous day. Nollaig Shona Dhuit!

Illegal aliens packing up and leaving Arizona.

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Dec 23, 2007 -> 11:25 AM) wow, people who are working hard to make money to support their families and put food on their tables are parasites? Actually they are criminals if they came here illegally. But looking at my new tax bill, and the breakdown for the local school district and the 500% increase in the English as a Second Language budget I can agree with Nuke on the parasite comment as well. I would like to ask the illegal immigration contingent here. I love the argument of, well if they left who would do the job. Who did it before they came here. The massive illegal movement is something of the last 15 years. So who exactly did these jobs before. Because the country I believe still ran back then. I see Adults now who cant speak english who work in the fast food industry. When I was 16, it was primary kids in the evenings, and a mixture of retires and some part timers. -
I think that Josh's fielding will be a heck of a lot better this year in the infield. Last year for whatever reason, he came to the majors using some oversized mitt as an infielder. They made a change in the offseason to a proper infielder mitt, and have worked on him getting used to the new mitt. I dont understand how he went through the minors with that oversized model and no one got through to him to say, hey you know that outfielders mitt might be part of your problem in the infield. Hopefully he is taking a crapload of grounders everyday.

QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 11:08 AM) Did he say anything about Alexei Ramírez? He couldnt say anything due to fact that the transaction isnt complete yet with MLB. But he mentioned specifically that the player in question can play CF and SS and they did their homework on him.

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 10:34 AM) Wow, 18 minutes of lay up questions. Yawn. There was a comment early on how a radio station went after him and he wont go on that one. I wonder if that is the flagship. How much the sox must regret going on a station that has Mike North on it. That asshat stirs up crap like Kotex boy.

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) Are they wanting it to hit just to see what it does to Mars or because we have something against Mars? Do Not Get. Whats to like about Mars. Especially with this little guy running around trying to stroke the fires of interplanetary war with his Uranium PU-36 Explosive Space Modulator. Hope the damn Asteroid hits him in his head.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) Something tells me that money will wind up in an offer to one Miguel Cabrera 2 years from now. If he's not resigned and we don't blow it on some other 33 year old player beforehand. Dombrowski wont let Cabrera go. They have the financial backing to make a Arod type contract offer to Miguel. If we think he is going to get to FA then we are nuts. Our best chance to get him on the southside has passed, its on to something else.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 12:30 PM) I wasn't commenting on civility. And I love soccer riots/fans. I would say that some of the rivalry matches in soccer there have the same distain between the fanbases as we have with the Sox and the Cubs and the Yanks and the Redsox.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 11:41 AM) Red Sox fans love their team far more than they hate the Yankees. As for the rest, I have a controversial point to make and I want to preface it by saying that I loved the White Sox growing up and still do. It is my team and always will be, no matter how much I flirt with the Atlanta Braves or cinderella seasons or not having a team and being "an observer!" or whatever. So I ask that nobody take it as an attack upon them or our team, even though I know that it is a controversial thing to say here on a White Sox message board. The White Sox invite apathy, scorn and distaste from the media and many fans of baseball due to the franchise's history. It might well be well-deserved and it might be unfair. I think it's both. But the White Sox are the only franchise in the history of the game to be caught throwing the World Series. There are some rumors that the New York Giants did it, as well, but they're rumors and inconclusive. There is nothing inconclusive about the Black Sox. And what happened after the Black Sox? The White Sox sucked. Babe Ruth took over baseball, followed by Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, those great Yankee teams that took over baseball and overshadowed everyone. After that, the White Sox are littered with good-but-not-good-enough teams here and there along with several bad seasons, few of which are particularly memorable and when your franchise goes as long as ours without winning anything, and arguably the "biggest" thing to happen in Chicago is Disco Demolition Night, it invites scorn and criticism. I've written before that the White Sox, as a franchise and history, are kind of the bastard child of baseball. It's there, but it doesn't get much admiration or affection from anyone other than its dearest and nearest. And the reputation as a "cheap" franchise goes back to Reinsdorf, the Strike, the White Flag Trade (without arguing about the merits of it). The reputation the White Sox get and the criticisms their fans get come from empty ballparks. From that monstrosity we played in during the 1990s. Reinsdorf? To some, he appears a modern Comiskey. I wouldn't go that far, even though I'm not a fan, but he does things like put the White Sox on Cable, chase Harry Caray away and then call him and Jimmy Piersall "scum" and tell them to "eat your hearts out" on national TV. By contrast, Cub fans are known as loyal to a fault, flocking to what most fans and writers consider the last great Cathedral of baseball every season, enduring remarkable heartbreak and agony but staying faithful. The ballpark's always full. The fans are always there. The managers always promise to break the streak. It's an easy thing to glorify. The White Sox? It's hard to glorify the White Sox. And I think that's the biggest thing at play with Sox fans who go crazy about the Cubs. Is feeling neglected. "Second team in the second city." I don't have that problem. I couldn't care less about Cub fans after we won the Series, and I don't really care about media coverage of the White Sox. I'd prefer it if the White Sox were good at taking care of their business with their mouths shut and didn't worry about what the press says -- like the Braves of the Schuerholz era, or Belichick's Patriots. So, the points I've made can be summarized as two: 1. White Sox history invites scorn and criticism. 2. Cubs history invites pity and admiration, leading Sox fans to fury. 3(whichIdidn'tadvertiseinthesummaryintro). I don't care about media coverage. I just want my team to do what it does, do it well and get on with it. Just as long as we never lose to that Phil Garner devil. Feel free to disagree. [i checked this post with Balta after posting it just to make sure it was...proper. That isn't to say he endorsed my ideas. We disagree on a lot of these things. But just that I checked.] I suggest you never go to Europe, because if the Sox-Cubs thing bothers you, a Derby match and how the fans act would really get you upset. The rivalries here are nothing, and are as civil as possible.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Actually, I do think it'd be neat if the Cubs won the World Series next year a few weeks after their hundredth anniversary, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. I hope they never win the world series, but then again. I never had fun at Wrigley. I am looking forward to adding to my collection of Cubs Suck shirts. The centennial version should be a keeper.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 10:14 AM) Hey southside, where can you get SCSI drives cheap? This is a hard find. SCSI always is a much higher price. We run Dell for all of our server based equipment. In warranty we keep with Dell, when it goes out of warranty we just google and see who has the best price that week. We see if we can get a Seagate, Hitachi, or Western Digital for cheap. Tiger direct, Tech for Less, are some places to look. Even with SAS drives out, SCSI is still expensive. Try to avoid the refurbished drives. That is just asking for trouble. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...s=scsi&mnf= http://review.zdnet.com/hard-drives/hard-d...lShoppingView=1

Descendants of Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse break away from US

LOL, good luck with this. This is the equivalent of blue island trying to break away from the union. Between this and the Azlatan goofs who want to create a new country out of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California and Mexico it at least provides entertainment. -

QUOTE(Vance Law @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) The Sox hit better against lefties than righties last year. I am sure you can find bad lefties like JP Howell and others who beat the Sox, just like you can find bad righties who've beaten us. Konerko, Dye, and Fields have mauled lefties over the past 2 years. Add the improvements of Quentin and Cabrera now. The fact that the top 2 pitchers in the division clearly are Santana and Sabathia certainly doesn't help the numbers. Not only are the 2 best pitchers lefties, but there are so few (relatively) lefties to begin with, that Santana and Sabathia skew the numbers further than would 2 great righties. Adding another lefty to the division in Willis, if he is as bad as he was last year, is a good thing in my book. We were 30th in baseball last year against lefties and the year before we were 20th in baseball. In 06 we were tops in the league against righties. We were 30th in baseball against lefties last year. .242 with a .741 OPS. We were 28th in baseball with a .248 BA, and a .719OPS against righties. The year before the splits were off the charts. We were 20th in baseball against lefties, and 1st against righties. -

QUOTE(Vance Law @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 06:01 PM) for us You must of missed the part that the sox suck against lefties for the last few years. Now you suddenly think that adding another lefty is a good thing. And before you quote me how bad Willis is, I can show you a list of crappy lefties that have wrecked this team over the years. If he can match the outings of JP Howell and other associated crap he should do fine against us. -
QUOTE(Hatchetman @ Dec 19, 2007 -> 04:04 PM) For those of you keeping score at home Stoney is 6 years younger than Hawk. Yes they are about the same age. One however is a hell of a lot more senile than the other. I cannot remember Stoney screaming at the top of his lungs when a fly ball makes it past the SS. You can put it on the .....oh daggumit no. Stoney will also bring a sense of objectivity. I don't think we will hear Stoney every say he thinks that position by position that his players are better than the rest of baseball. I don't think that Stoney will automatically blame the umps, the wind, global warming or another other non-baseball reason for the team sucking or a player not executing. Hawk is quickly becoming Santo on the southside. I have liked Hawk, but he has gotten worse over the years and has become weirder and more homerish if that was possible. I would trade the entire broadcast team for Stoney, and could hire anyone to sit with him and it would be better than the product we have today.
-
Maybe Hawk can retire after this year, and we can move Stoney into the TV booth.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 19, 2007 -> 10:21 AM) The best we can hope for from BAL for Uribe is someone NOT on their roster. A prospect of some kind. The Sox won't get any high end guys, but a mid-level prospect with a little potential perhaps. And I'd be pretty happy with that. As it stands, I get the impression the Sox are planning to platoon Uribe and Richar at 2B. If Uribe is on the team, there will be no platoon. Ozzie will plant him at 2nd base, and Richar will whither and die on the vine. -
