  1. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) Linkity. More at link. I stopped reading the minute the blogger who is a member of Crede's crew is moving Josh to 2nd. I love the fact that members of Crede's crew keep shuffling around players to fit a guy who is not all that good, just came off a bad back, and is a Boras FA. I can't wait to see an article where Josh is catching next.
  2. Its just amazing how commercialized St. "Irish Marti Gras" Patricks Day is now a days. I just went to a pub to get a corned beef sandwich and it was sponsored by Guinness "Get your Irish On", and Miller. "Aye have an Ale American Style". LOL But just like Christmas and the difference between the Santa Claus side and the religious side, this day has a different meaning to the Irish Catholic. Its a day of celebration, and of national pride. But its also a holy day to Irish Catholics. I have had the honor to visit County Down and the town of Downpatrick where its believed that he was buried. Maewyn Succat was born in 385AD in what is now Scotland to Roman citizens. He took the name of Patricus when he became a priest. When he was a teenage he was captured by the Irish, and was sold as a slave. During his captivity, he found his faith. He escaped to France and became a priest. When he was 60 he came back to Ireland to help spread the word. One of his first converts was a Chieftan that was planning on killing him. In the most famous St. Patricks account, he used the Shamrock to explain the trinty to my savage relatives back in the day. The first St. Patricks day parade took place in the 1762 in New York City. The real reason for this day. Have a drink, and be merry. Part of what Ireland is today, is because a great man saved us from the savagery of ourselves. Sláinte is táinte! lá fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 11:04 AM) He was getting laid. That's what people do in off limits areas. Duh. Computer nerd Well before we bought the place it was a meat packing facility, so now it all makes sense.
  4. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 10:29 AM) Haha, thanks... I'm just gonna ignore the latter comment All I can say is that a person who has been to knoxville a few times, its a nice campus and the female contingent there is pretty amazing. From an amazing campus talent question though, how Does anyone get through and graduate from Arizona State University.
  5. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 08:00 AM) Does officer barbrady get in trouble for this? We use an outsourced service for physical security at a lot of our locations in that region. So Officer Barbrady works for X company, and it will be up to them to deal with him. Company X however owes us some money for the coffee issue. We will start for the 7k that the new switch will cost, and 1k for the professional services that my department rendered that location to bring them back online. Who knows what our legal team will hit them with for loss of productivity, they were down for a few hours. The odd thing is how this happened. Our Computer rooms at each location are only accessible by IS, or the Plant Manager. After doing some digging, Officer Barbrady decided to clone the Plant Managers access and decided that snooping in the previous off-limits areas was cool. If he had just followed normal procedure this would of never been an issue. That room itself is particularly cold and uncomfortable to work in, so I am a bit confused on what he was doing in there in the first place.
  6. Just when you think you have seen all stupid things from people and computers. I get a call that one of our sites is down at 5am. It turns out the security guard at the site brought in a hot cup of coffee, rested it on top of our layer 3 switch in that locations datacenter ( the brains of the network at this location) while he was putzing around. Well the water must of been lava hot because it melted through the cup, and of course the age old formula of water + running electronics = hilarity. The location is offline now because of Officer BarBrady and his 10 cent cup of Joe. Murphy's law is giving me a kick in the nads today.
  7. QUOTE(Want2Repeat @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) Floyd - 6.55 ERA and 6/5 K/BB ratio in 11 innings. Two wild pitches today. I want to believe, but what Ive seen so far is on par w/his career numbers. I d rather bank on Poreda. Poreda has barely had any time in the minors. Lets wait for him to retire his first AA batter before we start to promote him to the rotation.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) There's a lot of people who thought Gavin Floyd sucked long before spring training and this one particular outing. Maybe he does have a dead arm, but he pitched 7 innings up until today and gave up more runs than strikeouts. For a guy who supposedly looks so great, and has top-of-the rotation stuff, its not so impressive. I love the amazing irony in the fact that you think Floyd sucks and use stats to bone up your argument. Yet according to you the tub of goo that plays 2nd is a talented guy, who is just motivation and heart away from a 30 homer season. And you think that guy will shine this year, not based on declining peripherals and stats but on the fact that he is a FA after this year. Floyd may suck, in fact any of the young players may suck. But at this point, we need to see what we have. I would rather give these kids the benefit of the doubt and to give them an honest opportunity. If they suck or dont work out, they are cheap enough to get rid of. I mean you preach the patience of sticking with an overpaid overweight not so good 2nd baseman that we had to trade our best chip to get his replacement. And for those quoting Keith Law, this is the same Keith Law who stated the Fields needs to work on hitting the curveball because he can hit the fastball already. That doesnt pass the smell test as Fields can hit the breaking pitch, but had problems with fastballs above the belt. He watched one game, and wrote an article based on that. I like the fact that we are going into this season with Floyd and Danks. I only hope we can see Ramirez at 2nd soon, and some of the other younger players.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) Billy blackout doesnt remember this, but at least I have proof of my state of mind. I mustve posted from my blackberry for all I know. I have to try Mrs T's pizza this week based on your drunken declaration. \
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 09:08 PM) SSI is a netowrk nerd and prob makes more tand anyone because hes in DG h4s cool and also rocks hard as a poster, but sztil pron doest know hioe good mrst's p[izza is. I miss the posters of 3 years ago where theyt didmnt like timo and loved joe crede for evertone else, im buy gpratt a beer this season, if you wanjt to be there, id suggest it I may need Heads to translate this.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) Josh fields is better than jow credce, seriouslty he is Jon Garland is kiup wells, but with better hair Wweed should e legalize, but with ae limits, and also with hieoight Unuiversity of illinois may haver the gayest fajns ive ever seen, i guess whyen you never win its pretty sweet when you do The bulls should trade heinrich, hes alwasy been too white for the game, andf now hes too bad Nick Swicsher mayt get the most ass on tis team, not cayse hes the coolest, but casue hes a buckeye, and also cause hes not a nerd This site is goog and all, but it necver addresses the goodx stuff like whether people in chicago are totally reatrdede another chapter in the continuing saga of soxtalk posters who post while intoxicated. Honesty, deep looks into one soul, and of course, every other word mispelled. The hallmark of drunken posting at soxtalk. So the question is, how long will it take before Heads is in here matching Rock's posts.
  12. QUOTE(Pants Rowland @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 03:26 PM) Sox down 2-0 after 1/2 inning of play. Looks like a two out walk followed by a HR did the damage. No homer. It was a bloop hit to right with a man on 2nd and 3rd that drove them in. Barton had the bloop hit. There was 2 outs at the time.
  13. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) Here's hoping for another strong outing by Jose. Toby Hall making his spring debut. I actually liked what I saw from Armstrong. Still no JO... Ramirez 2b Cabrera SS Thome DH Kong 1B Swisher CF Dye RF Quentin LF Hall C Great another speedster with a bad groin. That works out well.
  14. Dont get your hopes up. The minute Prancer 2.0 is ready to run, he will be inserted as the starter. No matter how good any of the other players are doing. THe florida Marlin offense must run, even in the AL I guess.
  15. Well its about that time of the year again. When some ex of one of the contestants comes out with a sex video, or naked pictures. Unfortunately this years idol contestant looks like she is trying to go trick or treat as Rogue from the X-MEN. The naked pics are in the process of being bought by the lovely national inquirer. So you figure they will leak out soon. Love the hair Rogue
  16. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Mar 13, 2008 -> 09:02 AM) Marriotti is hysterical today!!! Doing a complete 180 on his stance on players and steroids. He says the Cubs need to get Brian Roberts to achieve a World Series dream. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/mariotti/84...i031308.article Yet, all he has ever said in previous columns is that teams need to avoid guilty players at all costs to preserve the game! I love him. He's a moron. BTW...Because I didn't want to start another thread about this moron...I posted it here If the cubs wanted to make an impact and win the world series, They would of emptied the bank and their minor leagues to pick up Johan. Even if they get Roberts, facing Johan 2 times in a short series, or god forbid Haren and Web in a 5 game series will be very hard to beat. Even if they got out of the NL, the monsters of the AL would sweep them.
  17. My favorite SSI parade story happened around when I was 25. Drunk as a skunk I have enough common sense not to get into the car with my drunken friend. So I walk home. You know the weather for taking a nice stroll without a jacket, 30ish with flurries. 5 miles later I fumble for my keys and open the door. My father greets me at the door with this stern then puzzled look on his face. Son what are you doiiii....wait are you drunk. You are drunk. Now he gets very mad. I didn't understand the radar my father had to detect it. I didn't feel all that drunk. So I stand up straight, oops a bit wobbly here. I look him straight in the eye. Dad I am not drunk. Now a smirk goes on my fathers face and his color turns from bright red to a more flesh tone. Well Genius he says, I know you are drunk. How could this man question my integrity. You know what I can snow him, it worked through high school. He looks at says well first thing smart guy, you haven't lived here for 2 years. The neighbor called about 20 minutes ago and said he saw what looked like my son acting the part of an ass on 111th street. Then he says well son, what do you want to do. I said I want to go to bed. He says okay. Then as I start up the stairs. He looks where the hell do you think you are going. i look at him, going upstairs dad. You didn't sell my bedroom did you. He says, well I understand that you are 25 and all but the rules haven't changed at all around here. I look at him puzzled. He said you can sleep upstairs, but your lady friend needs to park it on the couch downstairs. I guess in my drunken state I was trying to bring my parade hook up, that I drank with at Cork and Kerry's to my house for some fun. My father drove her home, I slept it off in my bed.
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 10:58 PM) Yeah MB has gone through dead arm periods before. If you look at his splits in past seasons, sometimes he has a bad month every now and then, where he just gets hit a lot, and that's from losing a bit of velocity etc. But it's only ST, and I'm not really concerned with what happens here, so long as nobody gets injured. We need all our top players firing from day 1. And Irish71, I hope it's something good I win. I should be in Adelaide later this year, so it might be a pint I buy you. How is that.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) Before someone says I'm just being pessimistic, my reason for wondering if Buehrle is hurt has to do with the fact that just a week ago, he said he couldn't get any zip on the ball. When combined with him already getting moved back a day or two, it just made me wonder. This has happened to Buerhle every spring training. I wouldnt read too much into it. Spring training you have a few dead arm periods as you break through some conditioning barriers. It happens to a ton of pitchers. Look at Eric Bedard, or batting practice to the sox the other day.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 10:51 PM) I actually thought this may have something to do with Danks and Floyd. The plan all off-season was for Danks to be the 3rd guy and Floyd to be the 5th starter. Maybe Gavin's impressed KW and Ozzie a lot so far, and they've decided to bump him up at John's expense? And because they don't want righties and lefties going back to back when possible, they just decided to flip - flop MB and JV. Unless there is something wrong with MB as fathom speculated, but I would certainly hope that's not the case. Ding Ding the Aussie wins the prize.
  21. Mark is not injured, and that has nothing to do with this. This has more to do with splitting up the kids which they have said for a few months now, and also splitting up two lefty pitchers. The kid who is working hard on similar pitches to Buerhle. The entire idea of rotation placement is about making sure you have the correct matchups, and the split the style of pitchers up. You want to make the batters uncomfortable. The easiest way to have comfort is to have Buerhle and then Danks who right now is Buerhle lite. To me the home opener is more of the honor, and that is why Buerhle gets to open the park up at home.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 05:48 PM) You can for sure get impaired as it slows your motor skills, but not nearly to the extent of alcohol. IN fact cell phones impair driving more than Marijuana. Thats something that causes an actual danger on the road. Closing your eyes while driving also can impair your driving. Climbing into the back seat while the car is on cruise control can impair your driving. Those are stupid actions. There are always stupid people doing stupid things. The issue is when people take chemicals into their body that mimic stupidity for long periods of time. Taking an drug or chemical ( alcohol included ) that has any affect on your motor skills is just a different matter. When you are high or drunk you dont exactly have the capability to make sound judgements on the status of your well being. How many times have people been drunk or high and had no clue on how impaired you were. Sure when you wake up and have blackouts you have an idea. But normally you dont have a clue and cannot make a sound judgement onto your sobriety status.
  23. I messed up, I should of realized the marijuana makes you a better driver. Wow the innocent fools that I locked up before. I feel bad now. The first poor innocent guy, I mean I should of taken his word for it. He was lost. Now I got suspicious when he got lost by driving his mothers car over the front of some elderly couples lawn, and kept backing up and slamming into the fence for 15 minutes at 2am. While his friend was yelling move maaaannnn. Now I got more suspicious when I came up to the car, smelled the marijuana, saw these billows of smoke coming out of the drivers seat with the two kids laughing their asses off. The of course when they recognized that the mars lights weren't some addition to their music the passenger yelled s*** man its the cops. Now he was also good natured and wanted to share, that is why he thought that if he offered me a hit we could let bygones be bygones. I must of misread the situation. And the poor guy I caught that was doing 15 mph on street was driving safer as you say. He was being extra safe on that 55mph speed limit street. And with his lights turned off, and his windshield wipers going, no rain and at 4am he was probably trying to signal mars. Now granted the marijuana users are probably better natured that some of the combative drunks who want to fist fight with you. But shockingly people can get impaired with marijuana as well.
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) I agree. I felt bad for Mack (well, as bad as I could for someone making his $!!!). Seriously though, he did not belong in CF and never complained and did what he was asked to do. Think about Pods in the 2nd half of 06, and how if we played Mack in LF and kept Brian in center. I think having Mack play Left and leadoff would of been better for the 2nd half of 06 than having a gimpy prancer out there not catching balls, not getting on base, and running in slow motion. Also remember for as bad as Brian was from an offensive standpoint, he and Uribe were neck and neck in BA up until Uribe's annual September dance.
  25. Love the dead air of Farmer pausing when the game play slows down. He must be lost without the 2nd person to constantly interrupt. 12 seconds of dead air is great.
