Two really good pitching matchups today for anyone who's gonna be watching baseball. Sabathia vs. Santana, with the Indians trying to go 5-0 against Johan. Also Oswalt vs. Sheets in the NL. And not a great matchup like the others, but something I want to watch is Loaiza vs. Zambrano.

It will be interesting to see if Davies can develop into a reliable 4th/5th starter for the Royals.

I've found that beer snobs are the best kind of snobs because they don't just want to ridicule you for lack of knowledge but want to introduce you to as much as possible and help you learn.

Nice forkball today, no side-arm

More like 5 O'Clock shadow starter

Think Thornton likes pressure? 1/6 in save opps. -
Funny you mention Three Floyds. I tried one of their stouts at my buddy's a couple weeks ago and it was fantastic.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 08:58 AM) dude, check out my paint drawing...that's exactly what I'm talking about. 3E8 ever hear of Ross King? Yeah your depiction was pretty accurate, I dread 'stage 3'. Who's Ross King?

From another site on what really happened to Nick Hogan's Supra

Newton's 3 Laws of Freddy Garcia 1. A Freddy Garcia in a state of bad, will tend to stay in a state of bad 2. Freddy = MangledArm 3. For every pitch there is an equal and opposite hit

We really beat up on TB this year too, 6-1.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:27 PM) Well, if it's the first pick in the draft, the slot will be pretty high. Also, in a worst-case scenario, if we didn't sign that person, the pick would rollover to the next year. Yeah but Flash wants a change in top management if we go anti-Boras. Boras clients will go above slot, and Jerry isn't gonna fire himself

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 11:20 PM) However, I'm still worried whether or not we'll be willing to sign a draft pick over slot recommendations. This depends heavily upon the expected value of fellow amateur players and their representation (ie, Boras). Another factor is Jerry's relationship with Bud, which I think will work against your wishes

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) Yes, but Anderson had quite a few less minor league ABs than Richar. Did you really have that in mind when you said you didn't understand why people thought Anderson was crap and then a few posts later go on to say you don't like Richar even though he's putting up better (yet still bad) numbers through equal ABs? Guys who play at the collegiate level on average make it to the show with much fewer minor league ABs than guys who don't. Anderson/Richar were/are the same age as rookies.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) No, predictably I'm with you on that one. He may be the most liked .190 hitter I've ever seen though. And you were optimistic about Anderson? Do you remember his line through 85 ABs?

Fields owes Richar a dinner

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) hope you don't touch bathroom door knobs then. another sick thought. You go to a game a US Cellular and use the urinal stalls. What are your shoelaces sitting in as you are letting nature take its course? I wear velcro shoes QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) What the hell is it about guys? How hard is it (unless your Mr. Craig from Idaho) to piss IN a urinal? Cripes, that is so nasty. I have no choice but to piss on the floor a little sometimes because when I get to the urinal there is an existing urine puddle which forces me to stand far away. Also I angle myself 45 degrees to the porcelain to avoid any splashback.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) Medium well, maybe. That's just plain funny

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) He hasn't pitched all week and their off tomorrow. Use your head. It was a joke, relax

Papelbon...now they're just trying to zetz us

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) The real baseball game today is being played by 12 year olds! I watched the first game today, the big strike zone irritates me. Does a kid throwing 75mph from 46' really need an extra 4 inches on each side of the plate

QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Aug 25, 2007 -> 11:55 PM) although the west is possible My best advice would be to do that

QUOTE(Jeremy @ Aug 26, 2007 -> 11:43 AM) This year the gap between a 3B and RF is 56 points in the AL by my count, though 3B is actually as good as LF and in the NL, 3B has phenomenal bats. If you go back a few years though that's not at all the case so the strength of 3B right now is probably a bit of an aberration. My thinking was along the lines of Adam Dunn and Josh Fields is a lot better than Josh Fields and Joe Crede. Obviously, one pair costs you a lot more but at the same time, A-Rod/Fields, Zimmerman/Fields, and Cabrera/Fields probably aren't options. I would love to have Dunn in LF, but that's not really the argument. I'm just saying the OPS difference in an average 3B and LF/RF now is not very far off. Your first post made it seem like a move to the outfield really diminishes his offensive value.
-
The offensive gap between your average 3B and corner OF is decreasing, something like ~15 OPS points. It's not like he's going from catcher to first base.
