  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 20, 2007 -> 06:34 AM) Just heard the new song from "Smashing Pumpkins" (aka The Billy and Jimmy Show) and I'm unimpressed. It's not a terrible song, but it's just really forgettable. Twice in the car I've heard a song by a band that sounds so much like early Pumpkins, it's not even flattering. I keep forgetting the name of the band. Anyone know the band by any chance? Once I see the name again I'll remember.
  2. Take 6 table or butter knives and leave them in the freezer for a few hours. Once they're ice cold, take one and press the thicker, handle part of the knife firmly against the sty, hold it in place for about 10 seconds, then flip the knife over and still using the handle side, press it against the sty once again. Then go on to the next knife. The reason you use so many knives is that they get warm really quickly once you press them against your warm skin.
  3. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 22, 2007 -> 10:19 AM) Mitch: "...glad and... Excuse me. I'd like to say I'm really glad and proud to be here tonight. I'm glad to see that Frank's dad made it out, that's awesome, I haven't seen him in like eight years. That's great, congratulations!" Frank: "I love yau dad!" Mitch: "True love is hard to find. Sometimes you think you've found true love' and then you catch the early flight home from San Diego an a couple of new people jump out of your bathroom blindfolded like a bleep damn magic show ready to double team your girlfriend and it stops..." Beanie: "It stops right there and it continues right here because what I think my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind. Let's raise our glasses, whatever we got in front of us. Salut, Health and happiness." Beat me to it. Best scene in the film.
  4. Give it up, not worth it. You're too young to be struggling like this.
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ May 21, 2007 -> 11:01 AM) Where the f*** does he get off saying this? If anything, it'd be the other way around. I couldn't care less about who we beat... and trust me, I don't know a real Sox fan who values beating the Cubs over winning the World Series. Does he seriously get paid to write this s***? I bet he got it from a recent poll of Sox fans themselves. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=58716
  6. Ah the ole disc injury again. I have a herniated disc in my lower back and sciatica that I've been dealing with for about 8 years. I've learned to live with and deal with the pain as best as I can. You learn how to move and how to not to move, how far you can bend over, how to put your shoes and socks on, etc. When I have a flare up, I go on oral steroids (not the Barry kind) for a bout 6 days, sometimes it helps. The next step for me would be the injections and finally surgery. After hearing so many horror stories, I think I'll live with and deal with the pain before I let them cut my back open. Maybe some day they can replace discs with artificial ones, or maybe just kill the nerves that have the pressure on them. I cannot imagine anyone playing sports professionally with the same injury. Good luck Joe.
  7. Something tells me The Faces are in heavy rotation today at the KG house. Happy B Day.
  8. Who will be throwing Sunday against the Scrubs??
  9. Lame. Partly because it's offensive, but mostly because it just wasn't very creative or funny.
  10. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 15, 2007 -> 07:18 AM) I own almost all of his music, and I love his niche that he has carved out. Still, it looks like he is making love to a 12 year old. That's exactly where the shock value is. It's yet another carefully calculated move.
  11. I don't own any of his music, nor have I ever seen him in concert, but I like Manson. He's a really bright guy and a master at manipulating the media. I'm glad he is in rock music today.
  12. I wonder how her family feels about it, especially here Dad and Grandad.
  13. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 14, 2007 -> 12:41 PM) That man is responsible for the single most boring show I have ever seen in my entire life. It was in '86 for the forst incarnation of The Henry Rollins Band. I swear, half the club left, and the entire other half was either sitting on the floor of the club, or actually lying down we were soooo bored. His spoken word is pretty funny (though I prefer Jello), but as a musician, he is one of the most overrated acts out there. He was GREAT in the movie Feast though. I agree, The Henry Rollins band blew, but Black Flag was the s***. Nowadays I like to hear him talk about the state of music in general, he's still very much in touch with what's going on and he sees through all the B.S. I also enjoy his show on the IFC.
  14. We ran into Henry Rollins at the Dino show last night. He was right in the crowd, not hidden away in the VIP booth which was pretty cool. He's a lot shorter than I imagined, maybe 5'8, but his neck is as thick as my waist. Then we saw him again outside and asked him what he thought of the show. "Duuuuude that show was frickin' inssssssane" and he jumped in his car and took off.
  15. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 12, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) That's disappointing. How the hell do you hit the road without getting your new material hashed out? After butchering the first three songs of the night and receiving only an awkward smattering of applause: Lou: "This is a new one called 'Almost Ready', haha, kinda like us and this tour" Guy from the crowd: "almost ready, kinda like that last song!" Lou: "well, it's a new record, you know" Guy from the record: "yeah, well thanks a lot for trying it out on us" Lou: "yeah, well thx for your money" After Murph blew the opening to 'Been There All The Time': Lou: "wow, I can't believe Murph doesn't know this song, we've only played it on TV three thimes this week". Something tells me this reunion won't last.
  16. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) God damn, I love that squealy guitar sound!!! ....but that girl guitarist in the video grew up to be FUGLY! Saw Dinosaur a couple of nights ago and the ringing in my head is finally starting to go away. Kinda dissapointed, the new material sounds like crap, clearly they have not rehearsed it. The crowd knew it and the band knew it. The old stuff rocked a usual. Mascis is God.
  17. I was 8 years old and that is my all time favorite Sox uniform and team. I remember Jewel gave away these nice glossy pictures of the players. I wallpapered my room with them. I've been looking for a Jorge Orta jersey and can't seem to find one.
  18. I'm thinking either Sat. or Sun. depends on how busy I am at work.
  19. Watched 'In the Land Of Women' last night. A decent rental if you're bored. Meg Ryan is finally looking her age.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) It'd be a great idea to open the season in another country.......... Just not for the White Sox. Have any other team go. Yeah, make it yanks/bo-sox. After all, they're America's teams.
  21. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) If all that's true, it's quite obvious that Ozzie wasn't at the bottom of the stairs to catch him. Ozzie, please do something right for once. I bet if Thome was Latin, Ozzie would've caught him.
  22. Even if they DNA test the sock and find that it is blood, how do we know it's his blood? and even if they find that it is his blood , how do we know it came from his ankle? and even if they....... People will belive what they want based on how they feel about Schilling,
  23. Can someone give me a few solid eaxmples (with links or quotes included) as to why Schilling is supposedly such an A-hole? I hear people say that a lot, but I've never seen or heard any evidence of it.
  24. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 07:26 PM) It is an interesting phenomenon how she's gone from being unlistenable crap to being seen as some sort of alt-rock icon/influence. I know the B-52's gushed over her, even having her onstage for a landmark show of theirs (25th anniversary show in 2002). Well, I have no clue why the B-52s would jock her. It seems to me that 20, 15 even 10 years ago, alt/indie rock had to be different AND good. In the last 8-5 years it seems like it's trying so hard to be different, but it's forgotten that it has to be good. That's how Ono goes from being unlistenable to icon.
