  1. Hes walking a fine line there is my point. And he just walked a guy to load the bases. Throwing an absolute out there like if you cant throw the pitch in the dirt you shouldnt be in the majors is a hot take . If that were truly the case we'd never see wild pitches. There's in the dirt catchable and in the dirt takes a funny bounce or catchers who arent good a blocking those even when they know its coming because its like any other pitch, you can miss the location and it goes to the backstop. Pitchers throw mistake pitches all the time and miss location in zone and out of zone. . Youre asking him to throw it in the dirt but not too much inside or outside so maybe thats why it was so center cut. So many variables there about what the catcher wanted him to do. Maybe there was even some pitcher catcher miscommunication In that situation you want to minimize the chance for a mistake. Maybe he wasnt even trying to throw it in the dirt.We can assume he was but cant be sure . He had just executed 2 high fastballs for strikes so Im fairly confident a 3rd one above the zone and away would ve been a better call. It's splitting hairs I know .You execute either pitch properly both are good calls but a sinker right down in the zone youre hoping he tops it into a DP more than youre looking for the K , though you would certainly take either result. So maybe was trying to throw it low enough to get a DP but not too low for a wild pitch . A pitch too much in the dirt could bounce away from the catcher and all 3 runners advance. It's like the next worst situation to grooving an off speed pitch down the middle to speed up his bat. Baseball not easy. 🙂
  2. Plus its a rookie pitcher, bases are loaded. Asking him to bury it in the dirt with a runner on 3rd is a tough call 0-2. Hitter on the ropes . Go with the high fastball away.
  3. After one successful bunt I expect a "Who gets the CREDIT ?" thread too.
  4. True Venable but the brakes on the Rikuu Hero Train. Just let him swing .
  5. Even after watching the replay I couldnt tell the ball bounced. Maybe after seeing it again Ill be able to tell. He wasn't going anywhere either way. Did look like he went back to 1st which is the right move if you think it was caught in the air. Shouldve just stayed there.
  6. That was a DP any way you slice dont you think if it wasnt caught on the fly. He couldnt tell and neither could most of us.
  7. LoL I was lieing just to get the call. Promising absolution like The Pope.
  8. Yea baby thats the way you do it !
  9. Nice play by Vargas to start that DP
  10. Ill forgive the out call at 1st if we get the DP.
  11. Guess I shouldve shown up earlier and said LFG ! Youre welcome 😉
  12. Don't often see both starters pitching 7 full innings nowadays. That being said , Let's fucking go !
  13. Boomer rock was the best rock. Rock basically was born and died or has been on life support for a lot of years all during the Boomer years.
  14. Oh he's definitely the pitcher that a lot of people were mentioning who had a good shot at coming up. Getz hyped him up pretty good after the trade and expected him to be a contributing piece to this years team but thats mostly just GM talk , but he was the centerpiece of that trade and the money to pay for Hcks and acquire Sandlin came from the Luis Robert trade as did the money to pay Hays and Dominguez. Unfortunate that a measly $20M from the Robert trade was the only way to get all those players but it just goes to show the restrictions he's been working under. Had to get creative.
  15. 13K views for this in 8 hours ! Funny to hear Queen and then Iggy Pop and the Stooges after that in a modern locker room. Boomer music !
  16. Tall order .Dude has barely got his feet wet after being injured but pitched incredibly well. Schultz was also pitching very well for a longer period and he has struggled.
  17. The not stretched out part is why I suggested Shane Muphy as a sysrting pitcher because his last start he threw 5 shut out innings. But Ill admit I never checked how he was pitching before that. What you say makes sense although a 1 or 2 inning role is also possible because every time they try to plug a hole it hasnt been working out. But that might not be ideal in order to keep him prepared for spot starts or piggybacking for longer stints .
  18. I'd be interested in knowing how many rotations have 2 or more qualified starting pitchers with less than a 4 ERA. I know other numbers mean more but ERA is still a decent barometer of good pitching for a starting pitcher who can give you 5+ innings in most starts.
