  1. Guessing more . Don't know if its been divulged yet in this thread . But not much more. Edit: About 3 minutes from the post I quoted to the salary terms post. No one will believe I didn't see it. 🤣
  2. Taking on 2 contracts that's funny when just one of them (Hicks) take Getz past spending only the $20M he saved on Robert. That seems to be extent of the financial flexibility he's allowed.
  3. Yes its very promising and for those who talk. about being ahead of the curve when it comes to analytics. It's worth keeping and eye on. We alwsy heard about Tef Williams having 20/10 vision so Im. allso a firm believer that there may also be more advanced ways to test eyesight and continue testing it yearly since as we age and enviromental factor such as UV rays degrade our sight . Also to use advancing tech to increase our ability to see clearly in different kinds of light like sunlight as oppposed to artificial light during night games. Innovations to improve eyesight should also be very important to teams.
  4. The amount of variables involved to sustain dominance in baseball are incredibly high. This is why predicting the future is very difficult. Every level can expose a weakness and the need to adjust. Being a great athlete and posessing inate abilities means a lot more in basketball and football than baseball. In those sports you jump straight to the pros from college. Every one plays the same game. Baseball is way different. There are pitchers and hitters. It's like 2 separate games. It's why there are tiers to development. Pitching and hitting are incredibly complicated mechanically. Eyesight and the abilty to process what you see as quickly as possible and make a swing decision and being sound enough mechanically to impact your swing decisions and hit ball hard . As a hitter your levels of processing the info without pitchers findng a flaw to exploit is tested at every level. Who knows, maybe the next cutting edge for analytics will combine a hitters mental capabilities with physical . It's processing what you see in micro seconds and making a correct decision . No matter how good the pitchers get you can still punish mistakes but still being good when you see less and less mistakes will separate you. Then there's how you field and health... As fans we will always take our best guesses based on some data points but extremely limited for predictive abilities . Young players need helping hands along the way to show them that it's a game that can humble you quickly and you need to be adaptable and patient. That's why Colson Montgomery is such as interesting case study. How the White Sox approached getting him back on track when fans had written him off was quite unique. Those data points we used when we believed in him were swept away by his hitting getting worse and being unclear as to how injuries affected him. There was no guarantee that taking him out of game action and working on his process would get his mind right. But it did work. He listened, he adapted after around 2 years of declining stats. Of course he has to maintain it. Still no guarantees but it's so far a great example of player and coaches working together to implement change based on keen observation and analytics. It's also a great example of why we should show humility when throwing around can't miss or bust labels .
  5. Or 30 HRs potentially with Sosa but the path to ABs may not be there as much as last year.
  6. You just avoided my question . That right there tells me you had a motive . Everybody looks at other people profiles, they don't post the info to the rest of Soxtalk. Just like I said majority trying to silence the majority and playing the victim . I guess you left off the part of my profile that had my motivation for putting that info there. The part that said being on Soxtalk was like being with friends. But I see too many bullies here now and already posted about that . I like the underdogs. That helps being a Sox fan but it doesnt help those who chose to be with someone they no longer trust despite their obvious pain. I'm not in pain because I'm seeing an honest effort to get better under trying conditions . They all signed on knowing it would be challenging. They just do their jobs one day at a time trying to mske those young adults better at the things it takes to be a good player and teammate. The money part of team building is out of their hands. I support that.
  7. Money probably bottom line. One less thing to do covering his missed time with a full time guy who costs less. They were probably looking for an out with him anyway and missing 25% of games was their out.
  8. Research doesnt take long always. How often do you see other people posting whats on someone elses profile on here. What was your motivation in doing that ? It wasnt a friendly gesture . You were hoping to find something on my twitter to use against me most likely. You know it and I know it.
  9. Me and Eddy are fighting an uphill battle amidst an onslaught of disgusted fans and tend to enjoy watching the young guys develop and find peace with that side of baseball. I already know that makes me an outcast among the majority of fans who are unwilling to see progress unless its reflected in the W-L record. I've had mods delete my posts and tell me to piss off. I'll get suspended if I show too much of a backbone so I try not to get into lengthy debates. I'm more hit and run now .They prefer to make fun of the meek posters who dont fight back a lot and are polite thats why the more positive people here don't post more. They get ganged up on. Yet it's the majority playing the victim. The Sox made me this way. I have every right to be pissy about it. They want their cake and to eat too , rule the school and be victims at the same time and silence the ones who push back. It's like a civil rights issue majority vs minority and they say majority rules. Right now the board is dominated by angry fans but its not that way everywhere . I see a lot of good things and so do others . I just hate the High school atmosphere of making fun of people because they dont fight back because youre a jock and they are nerds for being nice. I rule the school crap because I post the most and my opinions are in the majority and just want the rest of you to stfu. I respect Lip and we can disagree on fundamental levels without bickering . Now Lip is in the majority of frustrated fans but there was a time when his politeness made him a target too.
  10. Combined they might be a pretty good OFer. As it is they have different strong points. Acuna is faster . Baldwin isnt slow. He's pretty fast too. Acuna is likely the better defensive OF. Looks like it was an easier transition to the OF moreso than Baldwin. But there's nothing preventing Baldwin from changing bad range into good range. He's fast and athletic enough to make decent strides out there. Baldwin has shown more MLB power but he got that power swing down. He ambushes pitches early in the count because pitcher's want to get ahead in the count. He also found his footing after a rough start offensively when he was sent down and torched Charlotte. His last 3 months were promising. He's been pretty good for a 12th round pick. Acuna has show flashes offensively but nothing sustained . They both have pretty fast bats Acuna is working on his fly ball swing. Baldwin has that part down. Projections favor Acuna by a little bit mainly because he racks up positive defensive WAR and Baldwin racked up negative defensive WAR. It seems easier to get an overall positive WAR based on defense overcoming offense than offense overcoming bad defense especially if your walk rate is low. That seems to carry a lot of weight with offensive sabremetrics since they think power might not be sustainable without maintaining good swing decisions. K rate is not necessarily a product of poor swing decisions since many many HR hitters can combine a high K rate with a high walk rate. Getz tends to stress certain things as a GM , LHH because its always a plus to have more strong side players, OBP which is a result of good swing decisions, enough power to result in more multi-run HR's for when you get the OBP. It all makes sense when you look at the history of the Sox being worst in MLB history when its comes to LHH. I forgot the tweet from a few years ago that showed that or what metric they used.
  11. Im sorry I didnt know laugh emojis hurt your feelings. I promise I wont do it anymore to you since your such a stand up guy and never laugh at or make fun of anyone. I actually feel appreciated around here. Yea those Montgomery K's really kept a lot of people from praising him or adding him to the top 100 players in MLB recently. I'm sure that was just MLB Network clickbait or Sox propaganda because Im a blind sheep. I better watch out now the Tox-Talk posse is a comin after me with a noose 🤣
  12. Brooks isnt a FA until 2031 so counting seasons 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 is 5 years of eligibility.
  13. I didn't know .Didn't look it up to tell your reality was wrong last year. But I do remember your reality on Colson Montgomery was a bit askew when you didnt think he was ready to be called up when he was. I think it was you because I remember @Autumn Dreamin pointing to some positive signs that he could very well be ready and you responded something like you hoped she was right. I acknowledge that assessing things negatively wrong twice doesnt mean youre necessarily wallowing . Maybe Im just remembering wrong.
  14. 🤣 You just described yourself you know that. Mr. 1 million posts. You respond to everyone who wasnt speaking directly to you. Look at your post count and mine. You just did it to @Poppysox in another thread !
  15. A lot of people's standards have changed between the recently deceased rebuild and the current one because people felt betrayed like your partner cheated on you so your protecting yourself by raising your standards in a time where you used to understand losing was a way to build up again. But now you feel like a beaten dog snarling at anyone offering you food because you don't trust them. Better days are ahead. It's a slower process than before because they started from a bigger hole and JR wont be responsible for anything but the bottom line because he's on the way out. Dont you get tired of crying over a broken heart and laughing at those who dont feel that pain as much ?
  16. And that's just Justin . The other brother and father are involved with the investment in the Sox too from everything I've seen.
  17. Guess it getting close to the time to predict our record next year and get it down in writing before opening day. What did you predict last year ? Did you post in that thread last year before opening day ? I don't think I did. What you see and calling it reality based is more like perspective based. Your perspective could be wallowing. Maybe it's not. Guess we'll see who can make projections better. It's hard with a young team coming off 102 loses but with a plucky attitude and go-getter coaching. Your reality is based on how you view what's happening to build the foundation, the coaches, the young guys from last year progressing or regressing and anyone new to the 26 this year . Or you can do in July after the All Star break like 1 guy did last season. Are you going to predict 100 loses ? You have a month still to decide.
  18. Rage post ? Is that a thing ? Isn't that what you do to @tray and anyone who challenges you. Everyone knows you need to have the last word because you'll bicker forever. And I just told you I care about your happiness. Your standards weren't so high on the last rebuild. You understood the whole better to suck and reap the rewards of sucking than stay mediocre but now you rage post about 100 loss seasons in a rebuild. Obsessed ? Dont flatter yourself. If I was obsessed I'd announce to the whole board that I researched you, discovered your 1st name and an old twitter handle, (I didn't), like your little sidekick did to me . LOL oh no he really got me there 🤣 And we'll have JR out of the way once the Ishbias take over. Happy days dead ahead ! 😘
  19. He's 23 . Guys have jumps all the time at that age when they getting playing time and make adjustments. Hell be surrounded by a lot of guys his age , with coaches and a manager all in a player nuturing environment. I think that had a lot to do with how well the rookies , Vargas and Sosa did last year. Won't work for everyone but when you consider how many improved or just had promising results you could probably name 10 guys who are back this year for full seasons to improve even more.
  20. I thought for sure they werent going to hit tbe 100 loss mark again in 2025. Then they had that 7 or 8 game losing streak at the end of the year. It's still a rebuild and you just got the 1:1 pick and you got a pitcher from the Brewers who was nothing to the Sox one day and their best SP to open the season. Also had a lot of their top prospects graduate to MLB and they did very well. And still 6 top 100 guys left and some promising SP pitchers among them. They are taking advantage of being in a rebuild. ESPN just had an article comparing the Sox to the 2022 Orioles who went from 54 to 84 wins. The odd contant focus or embarassment over the past few years of rebuilding W's and L's really wasnt happening very much with the last rebuild and then we didnt have a new owner on the horizon or an advertising contract with a heavy hitter like CME and their CEO Chicagoan Terry Duffy. Maybe he's aligned with the Ishbia's. Certainly could be a thing for a reporter to investigate. CME Stadium perhaps ? So good things happening behind the scenes and on the field. I'm just looking for a more balanced viewpoint . Did you see the Getz interview on the ReKap Podcast ? I thought it went well. I know it focused on the good things. Of course lots of good things being talked about plenty in podcasts. Like anything else that takes time to build you never quite know if its sustainable and if it will keep progressing and be in a good place when the team is sold.
  21. No one is forcing you to be unhappy except your own standards you just said that. So either you enjoy unhappiness , your standards are too high or you need another team that meets your standards. See I care about your happiness.
  22. No frankly it doesnt. I like them to win too. Im the same way in that regard but u cant hide misery , it affects your mood and I need not be miserable with more important matters. I dont think they will lose 4 in a row with 100 losses. Why would you even think that way ?
  23. Probably not . Some people are hopeful and positive and some feel they were betrayed . Some prefer to praise and some to comdemn . We will always have that dichotomy that shapes the conflicts.
  24. All true but not possible atm . I take more of a coach or parent perspective than I do as a fan. I cannot pour a lot or hate into a team I profess to love. Winning is great and we root for those who conquer their opponents . I understand the dynamic. I just rather pretend I'm a coach patting them on the back more than crying that their performances hurt me. I realize that makes me an oddball fan because I don't call players mental midgets or hate on the people under JRs management for sucking at development but then turning around and not giving coaches credit for actually giving players the tools to reach their potetial. Most of these guys can point to people or coaches in their development that made a difference. I'm hoping now with some recent examples that the Sox have more modern processes in place to maximize development. As fans were not going to remember the behind the scenes things or even be aware of most of it But to be aware of it to a degree and deny its existence seems like you prefer misery to hope. Or that winning is the only thing that matters. I like the good human interest stories too.
