  1. Always good to turn on the game and the 1st things you see are Tauchman walking and a Robert bullet into the LF bullpen. Unfortunately the K looking on Elko was called so fast by the ump that it's looked he made up his mind it was a strike right out of Allen's hand. It wasn't.
  2. Instead of using green when I'm not 100% serious I'll use a 😋or 😉 to indicate my tongue in cheekiness. I still can't figure out how to use bold print so doubt I ever used green.
  3. Every player goes through peaks and valleys and even moreso with rookies coming out of nowhere. In Shane Smith's case it could be fatigue since the drop-off has been so drastic and it could be combined with just plain old missing your spots. I don't see the need to trade any of the young starting pitching. Davis Martin I speculated on that possibility earlier but his value isn't that high he has been injured. Burke is a rookie, Cannon 2nd year. All could become worse or better but none of them have been so good to warrant trading. Right now their value comes from being OK MLB pitchers with upside and being pre arb guys . Don't think we're looking at any guaranteed playoff starting pitchers if traded now. So you hold for the future because several mid to back end starters are valuable cheap starting pitchers who for the most part keep you in a lot of games even with 4 - 4.50 ERA. Plus they can get better and if they do they still have plenty of years left before free agency and all those years become more valuable . They also became more valuable to the Sox in the wake of all the Tommy John surgeries and the odd developmental years of Schultz, Taylor, and Hagen Smith.
  4. I never said you did . The point is anyone can say a player sucks with bravado in that kind of acquisition . He's picking low hanging fruit. There's no need to be fair . In his usual I know way more than you all style of posting with ultra confident declarations of who sucks and who doesn't I don't see the need to make excuses for him.
  5. Maybe . Not many pitcher who aren't already established as great pitchers can go on a 9 game run of Greg Maddyx type pitching. He's right up there with Skenes, Skubal, Ranger Suarez and Wheeler among the best ERAs in baseball since they got him. We talk about getting better scouting there's examples all around us with Vasil, Shane Smith, Houser, Civale hasn't been bad. Perez got off to a great start before he got hurt. Those are all pretty good finds from the Rule 5 and dealing in season keeping your nose to the grindstone probably hearing Houser had started doing things to get in the best shape of his career as far as diet and exercise and it paid off for him with upticks in velocity ,movement and command.
  6. To be fair people trying to be the brightest bulb in the lighthouse declaring nondescript pickups to suck aren't really going out on a limb . Around here going out on a limb is saying I hope that he can give the Sox what they are hoping to get from him even if it seems unlikely from our observation point in the very cheap seats when most are making fun of any transaction and the people making them.
  7. You're no longer close enough to the team if you ever were, to pass judgement on so many people. All Getz is doing is working what he was given which is pretty much nothing and a lot of it was new hires , some last year and some this year. So maybe you better do some real journalism again and start constructing a time line starting with when Getz took over and investigating who was hired for what roles and when, in every department along with timeslines for when the new Dominican Academy will be finished. Also depending on agreements already in place with the most promising youngsters, figure out what year to expect to start doing a better job in the international market . Have someone take you on a tour and show you the Sox pitching ,hitting, and R & D new equipment. Maybe you can learn the purpose of a Trajekt machine, see the motion capture biomechanics in action and things you've never had a chance to see before. I think you have lost the objectivity necessary to do an honest assessment . It's a shame too because you use to do good historical work. But you're stuck in the past while the organization has been taking steps to move forward with some dusty money from the bottom of JR's change jar.
  8. That was such a feeble swing. It's like he didn't care to swing and come close to the ball. Not a lot of effort to at least reach out for the pitch. I mean it's and 0-2 a layman like me just from observing baseball for years can tell him on 0-2 75 % of the time your getting down and away out of the zone. Just take the damn pitch or pretend you were going after it just so if other teams are paying attention you don't want to give the impression you're on automatic take for every 0-2 count you get.
  9. It's ok plenty of room for the riders of the bandwagon boat late arrivals.
  10. Sounds like a good top of the lineup to me although they'd probably not put Montgomery 3rd to keep the pressure off him.
  11. Justin Ishbia doesn't think so since he was right behind home plate with his boy in the front row waving at people who recognized him.
  12. Tauchman seems like he been getting a hit every AB for the last 4 or 5 games. On fire.
  13. Me neither.See we can agree . I just like baseball a lot . And the Sox aot more .
  14. I was but it's not that simple obviously Crochet , Getz and the coaches all worked in harmony to put him in the best position to succeed. There's really no reason whatsoever to discredit anyone especially when during season Crochet was very complimentary of his handlers . He also was a 3 pitch pitcher until the league caught up to him a little bit after his 1st 3 starts and he had a rough patch .He gave up 17 runs in 11.2 innings so the cutter he was working on with the coaches in Spring training became a much bigger part of his arsenal because they were pounding his sweeper. And that's just a part of what not only developed him into a great pitcher but kept him healthy when no one here thought it was possible. There was a clear plan that he liked so much to keep him on a regimented starters schedule that he thought it was in his best interest to not pitch in relief if he was traded unless you pay me to jeopardize my career. A lot of people didn't like that. I loved it. He was the master of his own destiny but that destiny took shape with the help of the Sox. To me that was just a clickbait headline. Sure it feels like the big league because the Red Sox have established players and draw big crowds . Could be as simple as that. There was nothing inherently or specifically bad mentioned.
  15. Guess I didn't convince you Montgomery got a bad jump on that bloop in the 1st game even though he said so himself. 🙃
  16. Sonny Landham ,also one of the bad guys from 48 HRS. named Billy Bear . James Remar was the other bad guy, Dexter's father in the original Dexter TV show. Landham died in 2017 . He was 76.
  17. He's a free agent after the season so they have to trade him now . Sell while he's hot. He's easily their best trade chip. If they want him back they're going to have to outbid other teams for him. Or sign him by 7/31. That's not going to happen. It'll be interesting to see if they get more back for Houser or Robert unless they end up a package deal to a team with a top OF prospect like DePaula from the Dodgers or Montes from the Mariners. Keep reading before you start thinking I'm out of my mind. Zyhir Hope also from the Dodgers from the Cubs in the Busch trade. Played CF but Dodgers had a much speedier OF in CF so he's likely a corner since he slowed down from adding muscle. 5th rounder . But having a pretty good year in A + and ranked 37th in the top 100 so I know the 3 Ientioned are not in the cards. They're all too good. I shouldn't be looking in the top 100 at all even with a package deal. Or maybe start at the back end instead of the front end of the top 100 of MLB Pipeline. Dodgers have 3 OF and 4 SS in their Top 10. DePaula, Hope and switch hitting SS Alex Freeland are 1,2,3 in the Dodgers Top 30 .
  18. I'm good with them picking Smith. He's been with the team all year and he'll be here after the TDL. He's also a good choice to represent where the Sox are headed and a good choice to represent the the savvy of the new hires since Getz took over. Yeah it not great that his last 4 starts have been pretty bad and it's greatly impacted his ERA but we knew he'd struggle . He's a rookie with very few innings under his belt . He's a project like all of the rookies.
  19. Very positive article from Forbes about the Sox bringing up Colson and how he cared In Colorado. https://www.forbes.com/sites/philrogers/2025/07/07/colson-montgomery-joins-white-sox-riding-a-wave-of-confidence/
  20. He could get hot for the Brewers .He always seemed to have at least one very hot month in the season. In his career June was by far his best month with an .820 OPS . Next was August .745 OPS. Last year he had a .933 OPS in June. Sept/Oct .813 2023 may have been his most consistent year. June .811 OPS ,2 months above .750 and 2 months above .700 but below .750 . 2022 April/ March .933 OPS , June .800, August .810 . 2021 July .863 OPS with 4 other months between between .700 - .750 and he tanked in Sept/Oct to .251 OPS. He was probably pooped. Lots of games in LF and he had never played a season that long before. Not even close . 94 games in LF, 15 RF , 23 1st Base , 6 DH.
  21. Fitting way to end the game with a smooth pick at SS by Montgomery.
  22. He's got a future somewhere if the bat stays legit. He's now comfortable at this level.
