Just went on the Baseball Reference White Sox page and saw this: Playoff Odds: 62.7% to make postseason, 1.6% to win World Series This is also game #69 for the season. On this date the Sox are 58-49 vs RHP 2026: 27-21

That's really the best case scenario with maybe Mason Adams , Thorpe or Berroa contributing but those are even bigger longshots.

I got different uniform hats than you. I have the red , white and blue one from the 83 team. A red one from the Chuck Tanner years though I'm sure it's not that old since I think someone gave it to me but it was pretty beat up . I got one with the 2003 All-Star game symbol on it. Various World Champ Hats from 2005 . Various Frank Thomas Figurines from Starting Lineup and Sports Illustrated. A picture on my wall above my TV that's from the Cooperstown Collection with a small hologram symbol on it as certification of Old Comiskey with some history of the park on it. Designed to have the look of a blueprint . Various T shirts, windbreakers generic jersey or shirsey and a nice letterman-style jacket. Lot's of baseball cards. 3 or 4 1990 Leaf of the Big Hurt. Lots of other White Sox cards though none recently . Might have Wheaties Box from 2005 too. A game day ticket stub of the 1st game at the new ball park in a nice little holder.

The great thing about being at home is you can see how some little things added up to that big inning. Freeman whiffed on the ANtonacci GB and Tucker didn't look very good on the Vargas fly ball that went off the wall. He played the carom great but didn't play the high fly at the wall very good.

Probably at 2 fWAR now, equal parts offense and defense. He was seeing Treinen very well.

Right before that big beautiful 7 spot I went to the All-Star game website and voted for all the Sox I could, Antonacci, Peters, Vargas, Montgomery, Murakami Meidroth. Then bam !

Connor was in the booth with Costas and Stone ? Someone had to do it because Costas never shut up . There really wasn't any room for a PBP guy.

I saw a few people here who wished Schriff made that Braden Montgomery HR call instead of Costas. Judging by the amount of positive emojis it got considering unless something is really funny positive emojis rarely get above 5.

The problem , as I see it, is it's easy to be wrong when talking about production and using said production as your baseline for analyzing young players. It's the same thing the projection models do. Before Murakami was signed Meidroth was predicted by those models to have the best chance to have the most WAR on the Sox. It's a security blanket for every argument about future production and remaining cautious about making mistakes. The whole world has seen how even the pro's make mistakes, because you only look at the red flags and miss how players can evolve , that was the driving force with Murakami falling to the Sox. You feel the pressure to act like a machine and not a human being from your basement getting fat drinking beer and eating chips. You feel you are right because you have the backing of probabilities and pure math. But baseball defies these things more than any other sport. Players adjust, they evolve. Or to feel safe in you cozy blanket , they got lucky. Stats are a huge part of today' s game but those stats are part of the evolving process also improving bat speed and using angles and how best to impact the ball with swing path or even the equipment you should use. Torpedo bat in Colson's case. Anyone who looked at this as a rebuild and saw the promise of Teel or Montgomery or Vargas didn't see Meidroth as the most likely to produce the most WAR on the team. You were hoping players care enough about improving and the coaches hired to help them do that will succeed. That's what team building in a rebuild is all about. If the Sox had held onto their best player for one year I doubt they'd be where they are right now. I'm not sure even what you call the old Ray Ray was any better than he is now. He hated trading Crochet. We would have had him for 2025 a year in which they didn't have much of anything to win with. He'd have been a waste of a spot and a continued risk to be injured and not reap the benefits of cashing in on his monster year, the same way we missed out on cashing in on Robert in 2023. Luckily the Crochet trade has been the key to the rebuild building some quality hitting along with Murakami and draft picks and Getz stressing OBP and LH hitting. And we also have the 1-1 pick ! This is exactly how a rebuild should work.

Schriff has a style that has got him to where he is today. He has the voice and enthusiasm even if he lacks extensive knowledge. We should remember that to post on a board like this we are an opinionated bunch who take our fandom more serious than likely 75% of people who are now filling up the ballpark. I think most of the fans kind of enjoy his enthusiasm . He's basically an old fashioned hype guy like the ads we'd hear promoting old drag racing and funny cars. SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY where the great ones run ! While it seemed ludicrous while they were losing he's now a voice for the excitement and people want to be pumped up. The more fans you get pumped the more they come to see why everyone is so excited. Everywhere you turn , talk radio, MLB Network, the Sox are a HUGE story whether you think they should be or not. While there is still a lot of caution because JR is still in charge, most casual Sox fans want to get out and have fun and cheer for this group of players. John is a cheerleader and enthusiastic young blood.

The Dodgers are a very destructive force. They might not have the pitching Atlanta does but they must have close to a dozen games where they but up 10 or more runs. They have to be at or near the top in that category. It's hard to keep up the home magic against that kind of hitting even when the Sox pitching feels the home magic almost as much as the hitters. But 18-3 at home is a decided advantage lately.
