  1. Really I read your response and it's just a response. I don't see any emotion in it. Maybe he's talking about his own hurt feelings. I sometimes think half the people have no idea what he's talking about..He's not very good at making any point. Not a very good writer or maybe impaired in some way.
  2. Are you nuts ? Owners are the ones who decide what they do with their money not the GM. If he doesn't want his kids to inherit depth , that's it. Are you pretending JR can be convinced of so much more ? Let's live in reality. Getz understood the challenge he was facing as an opportunity to build something and he found a lot of guys who he hired who believed that too from the ground upon which the earth was scorched There might not be money for players but there is money to build a foundation and a culture .
  3. Come on man , you 100% supported the Hahn/KW rebuild because they were mired in mediocrity in a stupid attempt by Hahn to compete with the Samardzija and Shield trades that jettisoned a lot of youth. Then oh that didn't work.., it's time to rebuild without the youth I traded away. Hahn and KW also started the process of this rebuild only JR finally understood maybe not to let the bozos who fucked it all up twice weren't the best choice to oversee a 2nd rebuild. JR is the big boss and he was just as much if not more to blame but he's not going to fire himself. Chris Getz was not the architect of the 3 straight 100 loss season. He was put in charge of the Titanic that had already hit the iceberg unlike his predecessor who drove the ship into the iceberg multiple times. You're projecting your hurt feelings about the 1st rebuild failing onto Getz. You were promised multiple parades by your savior and it hurt so so badly that you became bitter and now refuse to even think of those 3 season as the rebuilding process. Getz inherited a fucked up situation and because you feel his rank or track record in the destruction deserves just as much scorn as the true masters of that destruction you assign blame to him . But but JR told us there would be a quick turnaround. Sorry you feel like your idealism was ripped from your soul but it's just baseball.
  4. Exactly acquiring assets in the margins is something Getz has had to do . Acuna and Pauley are essentially like any other barrel bottom scraping Getz has been coerced into by JR. It's an essential part of any poor boy GM 's job while under a owner intent on his kids inheriting no debt when he departs this world.
  5. Pretty funny I hadn't even read this post before I posted what I did right under it in response to it being such a great idea to just not pick up his option in the 1st place. In the midst of writing it I too realized hey didn't they actually not only get 2 players but didn't they save $2M ? How is not picking up the option in any way better than 2 players and profitting $2M ? We may not like Acuna but he is still a talented defensive player and extremely fast. If at some point he clears waivers and comes back to the Sox , those are talents that you can work with if you can find a way to get his bat going. Tall order but someone might see latent value in taking a chance on picking him up if he's DFA'd. But ,if not ,cool he's back in Charlotte.
  6. I don't understand why it's such a great point. How exactly does doing that benefit the Sox in any way ? None that I can see except if you want to be a smartass and say we wouldn't have Acuna and Pauley. Any way you slice it getting 2 players (no matter how bad you think they are ) and also getting back the money is better than just saving the money in the 1st place. Don't you actually get $2M dollars more because instead of Getz buying him out the Mets covered the $2M buyout ? Great idea OK ? But you haven't bothered to explain how getting 2 players and the money is worse than just the money. Only 2 months separated the time between picking up the option and the trade.
  7. It all depends on how persuasive Getz can be to convince JR that Beni is holding back the team and the Sox are a bat short and how much Getz and his hitting gurus believe JGon could actually be a missing link for DH and Inf. depth. He needs to paint a rollicking summer picture where the Sox are in contention for 1st in the central and the Sox and Murakami-sama are storming the gates of Valhalla along with all the benefits of that translating into the cha- ching of big crowds and rich sponsors and taking over the baseball headlines from the Cubs. So the question becomes is Getz fully committed to the Sox being a playoff team and think that Braden ,JGon, Teel, Peoples & whoever and a pitching staff held together by bailing wire can catapult the Sox into that unexpected rarified contender status without a guarantee JR is committed to spending a dime to add salary at the TDL. And that's assuming Getz may not want to trade any prospects now. After all JR is still the owner. He's not exactly known for overextending to finish off a rebuild especially if it means bidding on someone like Tarik Skubal yet alone heading into the unknown CBA situation of 2027. Also there's a Muni extension to be considered. That is extremely important to the future of the Sox. That's likely the most pressing thing on Getz agenda outside of his daily shenanigans. A 50 HR season makes it just that much harder for JR to keep him if that means a $200M+ payout at this stage of his ownership where his priorities are to his sons inherited wealth and not the White Sox.
  8. It's almost like we're like the Dodgers without the playoffs or World Series or the huge payroll. That's my sarcastic way of saying we shouldn't be in any hurry to start trading what we deem as excess just yet. The stew needed to simmer . It's not like the Intl.signing period is providing any talent yet. Is there even 1 guy from that in our Top 30 ? Also JR is still owner and we have to account for the fact the Murakami may bolt for richer pastures. Ishbia isn't the owner yet.
  9. No it didn't ,but it was, so that was the reality coming into 2026. Saying he didn't have to pick the option or saying he didn't trade him after 2023 is water under the bridge. I'm not dealing with "what ifs". I'm talking about the reality of what actually happened . That's like that inning recently that the Sox had men on 1st and 2nd no outs and Hill up and the question was bunt or not bunt.I didn't want them to bunt but once they did I liked the immediate single that drove in 2 runs and posted hey it turned out good .But Ray Ray asked me what was good about it. I said 2 runs right away. Ray says but it could been a big inning cause they got some hits after. That's a "what if". He don't know how that inning turns out if Hill doesn't bunt and neither do I but I'll take the 2 runs in reality rather than the "what if" of a K and a DP or Ray's dream of Hill and bottom of the order continuing to single the Twins into a big inning. Anyway... Most here actually wanted him to pick up the option hoping he could establish some value. I can't remember my stance on it. A lot of people also thought Robert was worth more than that return or the Sox just should have kept him .Yuck. I was happy to be rid of him finally. It dragged on way too long. I do know that when they traded Crochet a lot people thought Robert was as good as gone too TDL 2024 I think. I gave reasons why I didn't think Robert would be gone..Someone called me naive. Ive been around a long time and my specialty with the Sox is reading the tea leaves pretty accurately . No one is always right but my arguments are well thought out. I look at the big picture. Naive I am not so when Robert wasn't traded I let that guy know in no uncertain terms that I managed to be right while also not questioning his knowledge like he questioned mine. People don't like the s%*# they say being thrown back in their face. Too bad so sad. I'm not here to take anyone's s%*#. No disrespect to you of course . You're pretty fair minded . Peace🖖
  10. I don't think he meant in preseason predictions.Hell, unless you're blindly optimistic predicting .500 felt next to impossible . But once they started April well and then kept it going people were encouraged that with Murakami and the whole vibe of them being extremely likable, they started making fans smile again. Plus we all know not just chicks dig the long ball. But some refused to smile and feel good because they were too hurt to invest again for fear of the same owner ripping their hearts out again. It makes me cry every time I think about it. 🤣 Poor babies. It's not as if I'm oblivious that losing Murakami is very possible to derail things right when it could get really interesting when once Braden and Teel get in the lineup and we see how some of the young arms do and our 1-1 pick and what other things Getz comes up with . But things are stil wonky because it's Jerry. Eventually you can't keep winning looking tunder the couch cushions for change. So I live in the present. I'm not constantly looking ahead and expecting the worst. I do sometimes imagine Justin Ishbia keeping Getz as GM and all the wailing and gnashing of teeth that causes and I laugh.
  11. Right and in his position he's going to miss a bunch because he's grabbing a bunch of low cost rejects. I said this would be his path probably over a year ago. That he would burn through a bunch of bodies trying to find semi permanent pieces while filling in other spots with prospects. No question he's been learning on the job .
  12. Got him after the Robert trade with money provided by the Mets paying off his full salary is much more accurate and generally accepted story judging by what Getz said to the press after the trade when asked if the money would be spent to help the 2026 roster. Not many believed it would be but shortly after those 3 transactions followed So got him as a result of the Robert trade so it was a salary dump 1st. Without that money JR wasn't going to pay for anything but Mune. With it Getz was allowed to spend another close to $25M or whatever those 3 transactions cost.He got $22M I believe from the Mets ( full salary and buyout).
  13. I don't expect any more than 2 given the limited number of spots., Murakami and Martin .Still a long way from that game though so I'll just stick with the 2 most likely as of this point in time.
  14. While it is a bit early to start thinking this way. It's fun to imagine a rotation of Martin, Burke, Sandlin, Schultz and Shane Smith finding his stuff again. Then if anyone falters maybe Hagen Smith McDougal ,and Oppor overcome their obstacles and a few more develop. Things never turn out the way we think they will but Getz has done things with 0 money to work with just snatching bodies and arms and learning how to wheel and deal like a poor street kid. He hustles. He's playing 3 card Monte , street craps & picking pockets . He's the Artful Dodger from Dicken's Oliver Twist starring JR as F a g i n. Edit : I had to spell it with the spaces otherwise it changed it to f**in. I had no idea that character from the Dicken's novel would get flagged as inappropriate because it starts with F A G
  15. June has a tough stretch with Phillies, Atlanta, Dodgers and Yankees. After that it gets easier. Sox are really going to have to shove against those top teams to approach the same kind of record in June as they did in April and May. They have to continue the exemplary play against the Central. And we need the injury luck to turn around. Plenty of people waiting to pounce on any prolonged bad stretch of games like they rather be right than have the Sox win. That's why I give the haters crap. I rather be right when the Sox play well so I stay positive . The haters rather be right when they play poorly . That's kind of fucked up from supposed Sox fans . Always acting like they've been traumatized .
  16. To paraphrase John Denver: 🎼 Friends up in the bleachers 🎵 And everybody's high. 🎵 White Sox high, Chicago🎵
  17. 🤣 During the bad times I was outgunned by almost the whole board telling me I was a water carrier and stan for Getz drinking Sox koolaid. I always preached patience and wait for the kids to arrive. Id make points that so many disagreed with I had to just pick 1 to respond to or else I'd be here 24/7 . These were things everyone said during the 1st rebuild but it spectacularly collapse and everyone got bitter. Now you want to play white knight because the side you were part of is getting a little reminder that things were indeed trending up and that it would take time to come up from rock bottom ? You're a freaking saint buddy.
  18. Not really .Almost immediately after the Robert trade were some of the ones I mentioned and right after the Robert trade Getz said he was already on the phone about other trades or free agents. He made it a point to say that Robert money from the Mets which was around $22M would be spent which ended up being pretty close to the cost to get the guys he did. Most of it went to buy out Hicks contract to get Sandlin. Dominguez got 2 years $20M ? So $10M for 2026 and Hays got 1 yr. $6M.The timeline matches up. Getz didn't even think he could get Mune until it fell into his lap and it happened literally in maybe 2 days. He said the Mune money was an exception like an out of the ordinary thing they told Jerry was something he shouldn't pass up. Sure maybe after that they knew trading Robert was imperative to afford more players they needed but they were going to trade him anyway so the important part of it was the salary dump.
  19. This was a legit question and the response was typically laughed at looking at the emojis from the haters. Getz turned that money into multiple players who have had varying degrees of impact but overall it's been positive. Sandlin, Hicks , Hays ,Dominquez. The total lack of foresight astounds me at times but that's what happens when people makes their minds that everything is terrible. How anyone could think Robert could have another 4 or 5 War season inside him somewhere is crazy. Anyone who thinks I'm carrying water for Getz would be wrong. I have posted that I thought the biggest mistake Getz made was not trading Robert the same time he was trading Cease after the 2023 season. Then even the Getz haters started saying the same . Getz should have traded him after 2023 season as part of their Fire Getz campaigns. At that time pretty much the whole board thought he was Uber valuable and he was ,compared to what he ended up being traded for. So maybe he put out some feelers and asked a lot for him and got no real nibbles.Other GM knew the talent but it was his 1st season ( and only 1 ) that he played over 140 games so maybe not enough of a track record to get a kings ransom for him .That kind of how Cease got viewed too.Sure there was talent but 1 season removed from his near Cy Young year he didn't come close to repeating it. The two seasons after 2023 the most fWAR Robert, JR could muster was 1.3. Dude just couldn't stay on the field.
  20. So I was beaten to the Metallica Enter Sandman video but here's a substitute.
  21. Don't forget to thank the Luis Robert trade for Mr. Sandman.
  22. Largest margin of victory since Sept. 2020 when they beat the Tigers by 14.
  23. Sandlin retired 18 straight which hadn't been done in a debut since 1920 when it was 15 straight. No idea if it's a MLB debut record.
