  1. Then I suggest that you start going to games ,if you are in the Chicagoland area, so you can say you saw the Great Munetaka Murakami and let JR and Ishbia know that you will support them with your honored presence and your money . If you can't attend games then your pitchfork is meaningless.
  2. Schwarber is going strong. Mune's advantage is he has a quick bat . The whole "profile doesn't age well" is overblown. Most players don't age well except perhaps the very elite or as you say unicorns. But Free Agency means that in order to get younger guys at a high level you almost always overpay. Harper got 13 years til age 38. Schwarber is signed to age 38. Machado signed into his 41st year. Freeman got 6 years starting at age 31 and his contract ends after 2027 the same as Mune's does. Coincidence ? It's quite conceivable that Mune get's 10 years especially if the Dodgers are involved. But still another 1.75 years left to see if Mune will deserve that kind of contract. Or with Mune's permission he gives the Sox a window to make an offer big enough to make him feel he's really wanted.
  3. First off the player has to want to be extended. Without that there's nothing that can make a guy who wanted to prove himself and get a big contract stay . If that's the case and it's impossible to sign him , it would be very smart to trade him. However ,there's always a chance he is open to it but we can't assume just because they make a very fair offer that he still want's to choose Free Agency. But to your point, I don't think JR is capable of a fair offer when he clearly doesn't want to go out owing any player $150M or what ever kind of contract he ends up signing. Just let it play out for better or worse and enjoy it while he's here. Plenty of time to sharpen your pitchfork.
  4. I'd say it's been Murakami. Just goes to show you that in this day and age of Data and metrics and all the scouting that so many can be so wrong. Hitting a baseball isn't ,nor will it ever be, an exact science. That's why top draft picks can bust and late round picks do good.
  5. I can't add much to all that good stuff but I think they are 8th in baseball in walks .
  6. Late Night with Chuck and Ozzie and Roger Bossard telling stories about corking bats and his 1st year in 1967 talking about names of players who were my heroes. He brought up Ken Berry ( CF ) who was my favorite player along with Joel Horlen. Berry I think actually was a consultant on Eight Men Out and might be in the credits as such. Also he had a confrontation with Rickey Henderson because Henderson was pissed Bossard was watering down the area around 1st base so Rickey had a hard time getting started on steal attempts.
  7. What's the Sox record since Antonacci's been on the team ?
  8. Dude I thought you believed we're so back ?
  9. I love when you talk good baseball !
  10. 15 hits is great . So is a 6 run lead headed into the 9th . Don't worry be happy ! Make that 16 !
  11. There are always people who will knock good things because no one remembers when they do. Then they hop on the bandwagon as if all those criticisms never happened.
  12. Of course he gets his very 1st MLB double !
  13. Vasil is actually waving around a Harry Potter wand . It's a thing with him in the dugout. I haven't seen it mentioned on Soxtalk by anyone or I missed it.
  14. Not a terrible idea to try to get into scoring position with 2 outs. He might have been safe if he slid on the 3rd base side of the 2nd base bag. At least he's got good wood on the ball a few times.
  15. Sox just weren't biting on the pitches he normally gets guys to swing at.
  16. I don't know where you got this from but the likeness is amazing !
  17. Guess we're going to have to wait for a losing streak to get the Fire Getz thread back to the front page.
  18. Just goes to show what happens with a bunch of patient LHH when you get in a RHP head. Baseball baby ! Sox should get credit ! They are pretty damn good.
