  1. I don't see how anyone with eyes could think he was out. You have to find a contact point of the glove to the skin or jersey to say he was tagged. I saw none of that . No altered movement of the glove or jersey to indicate there was a tag. Therefore inconclusive and the call stands.
  2. Don't know what you said here but I'll say you were saying Jose was safe.
  3. Doesn't really address the PH issue. I remember one time he had Eaton PH for Vaughn early in the season when Vaughn was scuffling and Eaton hit a HR.
  4. Thought for sure there would be a pinch -hitter for either Leury or Madrigal. Either Lamb or Collins.
  5. We could add Trent Grisham in the pick after Fulmer .
  6. https://www.milb.com/scores/chicago-white-sox/2021-05-15 Curbelo hit his 5th HR for W-S in a win. M. Hernandez (2), Nick Williams (1) and Seby Zavala (3) with HR's in a win fro Charlotte. Dedelow (4) and Adolfo (3) hit HR's in a win for Birmingham. Kanny 1st win of the year 1-0 after 10 straight losses to open the season.
  7. Yep he's in the opening post in the video link.
  8. Kopech was good , real good. You lose a weapon for the pen when he starts but hopefully all in the name of keeping him sharp for any role they decide to use him down the stretch.
  9. Summary from yesterday's Doubleheader. Michael Kopech 4 IP, 2H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5K Vaughn 1/5 HR 1 RS 3 RBI Also had his 1st MLB start at 1st base since Abreu was injured in the 1st game and made a nice diving stop. Mercedes 1/5 BB Madrigal 0/3 https ://twitter.com/whitesox/status/1393368996175560704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1393368996175560704%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mlb.com%2Fnews
  10. That's why I made the thread. Every player get's his own thread from time to time based on how well or poorly they are doing but as a group of Rookies all performing well it's been a very solid reason why the team is very good. 5 rookies performing so well is hard to imagine. I don't know if anyone can come up with such a large group on any team in recent memory.
  11. I'm going to reserve judgement on Vaughn's fielding. I've been fooling around on Baseball Savant and he's surrounded by a bunch of catchers and DH's as far as sprint speed goes. Their are some LFer's comparatively fast like Jesse Winker and Alex Dickerson. As far as jumps and reads go he's in the negative and also in the negative of OAA (Outs Against Average) but sample size is still pretty low but the bigger the sample size, the worse I expect it to get for him since everything is based on how much ground you can cover relative to how long the ball is in the air from where you started. That means speed, route, and jump all come into play. While with more time his routes or jumps could improve his speed will not. Things that go wrong would not be obvious to most fans because he may not get to a ball that someone faster would in a situation like bases loaded 2 outs and a double barely out of his reach that scores 3 runs. But it will show up in his OAA. As for now he's been fine but as the sample size grows I'm not optimistic. But hey maybe you will find more encouraging things than I did on his Baseball Savant page.
  12. His name is Gio and he dances on the sand Just like that baseball twisting to a catcher's hand And when he shines, he really shows you all he can Oh Gio, Gio, dance across the grassy land
  13. That's the difference between Vaughn and Mercedes. Everyone thinks once Vaughn starts hitting ( and he has) that he will sustain it because of college accolades and rank . People aren't as sure about Mercedes because he's taken the longer harder road to MLB. Vaughn already has multiple $Millions while Mercedes is lucky to have qualified recently for the minimal MLB pension . I'm rooting for Mercedes for ROY. Nothing against Vaughn , I love the kid, I'm more of a share the wealth kind of guy and Mercedes might have to hit well for 5 years just to come close to Vaughn's signing money.
  14. Awesome another brave soul with his prediction down for all eternity. Once he hits his 2nd HR no more predictions will count. Same with Yermin all predictions in before his 6th HR.
  15. I think we all know who it is. It hasn't really been much of a mystery .
  16. Summary of how The Rookies did in today's game that extended the winning streak to 6 games with a sweep of Twinkies. Andrew Vaughn 1/2 2 BB, 1 RBI 121 wRC+ Yermin Mercedes Pinch hit and singled to drive in an insurance run 1/1 RBI. 185 wRC+ Garrett Crochet 1.0 IP 2 BB, O H , O R , 2 K
  17. I think I can make an Irish folk/drinking song out of that 1st sentence. An ugly win but a win is a win A win is a win , win is a win An ugly win but a win is a win Early in the mornin' A pretty win for a win is a win , A win is a win , a win is a win A pretty win for a win is a win , Early in the mornin' Gather ye round 'cause a win is a win A win is a win, a win is a win Gather ye round 'cause a win is win Early in the mornin' Raise your glass for a win is a win, A win is a win , a win is a win, Raise your glass for a win is a win It's grand ,it's grand, it's, grand !
  18. Right thanks for reminding me of that, I think I blocked it from my memory ! Week and a half ago for the Robert injury and slightly longer than a week with LaRussa. Combine the 2 and that had everyone really upset with the LaRussa "rule" debacle.
  19. I don't think we have to give credit to anyone but the people on the field somewhere, be it the playing field or the dugout. It's too hard to compare the team year to year given the late start last year and changes in personnel . IMO you compare yourself to the rest of the league without worrying too much about strength of schedule. Like Hawk used to say it's not who you play but when you play them , or even where you play them. Soxtalk was at it's lowest point of the year around a week ago with the LaRussa debacle and now here we are at our highest point shortly after. It's like they tell the players , Don't get too down when you are doing bad and don't get too up when you are doing well. Keep things in perspective , remember it's a marathon not a sprint. That's what professionals do . Stay positive. Support your team mates . Sit back, relax and strap it down.
  20. Thank you Quin, great post and very thorough. That kind of post probably takes something like an hour to do when combining the research and the writing. That's dedication.
  21. Summary of how The Rookies did last night. Vaughn: 1/4 , HR, 2 RBI ,3 RS, 1 BB Mercedes: 1/4, RBI,1 BB Madrigal 1/5 , 1 RS
