I'm confused. You said our window is about to open but when I said it's not opening this year you eloquently replied , no shit ? SO maybe you should be more clear about when you think the window is opening. It's not as simple as just bring guys up and released other guys. You have to replace everyone at all levels when you make moves. If you bring Mendick up who replaces him ? Madrigal ? Maybe the Sox don't want to move Madrigal yet . Maybe they don't think Cordell has had a long enough look yet. Maybe they don't like Palkas defense when the pitching is so bad anyway. Maybe if you DFA Castillo and some injury happens on another team you miss an opportunity to pick up a piece. Mendick isn't a savior nor is Palka.

I'm trying unsuccessfully so far to find a spray chart on Collins . I'd tell him to be looking 1st pitch fastball and be ready to hit it since pitchers know he looks at a lot of pitches and K's a lot and will be looking to get ahead in the count . Let the pitchers know they just can't lay that1st pitch fastball in there. Not sure how many of his HR's are oppo so I don't know yet if he's going to see a lot of sliders down and in or they will pitch him away which is why I wanted to find his spray chart.

Oh I'm not saying I would've brought Palka up over Collins but people still like Palka or at least his late inning heroics and he has done things in MLB that Collins may never do,but we do like to see what we have and even if he can't hit he can hit HR's and draw walks hopefully. He may get the Moncada treatment so I expect a lot of K's looking.

Also if there is one thing the SOx bench is missing , it's a power bat. That's why people are still pining for Palka that LH bat that could come in and hit late inning HR's and win games. Hate his overall game but he really came through in the late innings last year. I don't expect much from Collins but get him AB's and see what happens. 3 true outcomes most likely in this order most frequent., K's BB's and HR's,

Tht's why I made that list of TJ pitchers above. I was trying to think like Tampa Bay and find some longer term but damaged guys. The best one is the most damaged but also with the most upside and already is a TB Ray, Brent Honeywell, Jr.

They've taken some chances lately with Castillo and McCann both in the lineup and realize they can't do that, 3 catchers allows them flexibility to always have one on the bench. If anyone goes it's Alonso since Collins also plays 1st base though probably not nearly as well as Alonso and they do both bat left handed.

Sure he's definitely in the mix for 8th inning and in case of injury could close, Has had plenty of experience at it and success. If you need a double play rather than a K i think he's a good choice.
