  1. I've been on the Bumgarner ship since we started asking who we want for next year, but I'd settle for Quintana. Need a lefty.
  2. I expected this kind of response, but MLBtraderumors makes a strong case that he might be every bit as valuable as Castellano. Ozuna or Puig. Probably would come cheaper too than any of those guys.
  3. I remember wanting him about 2 or 3 years ago . I know I posted on it too. It was one of those post the opening day roster threads during the off season or late in the season.
  4. Avi Garcia and before you call me crazy read this. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/06/avisail-garcia-rays-free-agent-value-ozuna-puig-castellanos.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MlbTradeRumors+%28MLB+Trade+Rumors%29
  5. I know what you mean about Avi. I vehemently argued 2019 could be a breakout better than 2017 because of the power he showed last year even while fighting the bum knee. I also noticed that his fielding is better leading to that higher fWAR .I was thinking that the dome in Tampa Bay might be responsible for that. No wet grass and surer footing in a dome while he was also getting better defensively the last few years. I don't blame the Sox for non tendering him because of injuries and unfulfilled potential but I also thought he was worthy of a re-sign at a lower rate than what his arbitration numbers would 've been much like how TB did it with incentives. In light of what the Sox paid John Jay, not re-signing Avi is even more mind boggling. Skip Jay, give Avi the $4M add some incentives and voila you had Avi for 2019. John Jay won't put up 1.7 WAR for the rest of his career . That's what Avi is at for less than half a season. Anyway Garcia is a FA in 2020 and MLBtraderumors has an article about Avi and compares him to Ozuna, Castellanos and Puig since all are FA's in 2020. It's a good read. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/06/avisail-garcia-rays-free-agent-value-ozuna-puig-castellanos.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MlbTradeRumors+(MLB+Trade+Rumors)
  6. Maybe no Rendon but Scooter Gennett would be a helluva pick up. Madrigal might not be ready for another 2 years if he become a an MLB player at all.
  7. He;s been pretty good over the last month and particularly the last 2 weeks.
  8. So look around the rosters for LH power hitting OF and see what we can find.
  9. Keuchel must really believe in Boras and his ability to get ready quickly. Hey Keuchel hold out another month .
  10. National recognition for SOx players is big. Good job !
  11. Need a lefty sign Scooter Gennett. Madrigal has a while to go.
  12. That's why I said A+ . With all the positives about his bat I first thought AA but then realized how aggressive that would be and no way they stick him in that park to start his journey.
  13. Looking forward to seeing him with the Sox shortly taking BP before he goes to where ever they are starting him . Where does everyone think they start him ? A+ ?
  14. Except Freeman is lefty but I know what you mean. Plate discipline and power.
  15. Smallish 5'11/6'0" RH 1st Baseman. More than likely 1st base only. Not fast but not many 1st basemen are.
  16. If the Sox move Colome he could be the new closer as rare as that is for left handers.
  17. Eloy is a gargantuan long limbed fellow . Baseball is the one sport for all shapes and sizes but i think the tall long limbed need to make more adjustments to compact things. Shorten the swing , maybe a crouch to keep your strike zone smaller. The long armed guys like to get full extension on swings and many stand off the plate and hitting the opposite way is natural like it is to Eloy. Problem is big leagues pitcher have great curves and slidesr and live on and off the outside edge of the plate; As much as Eloy likes going to right field that makes him susceptible to those pitches. Even when he makes good contact I've seen him line out to the right fielder already more than a few times. He might have to move closer to the plate and relearn what he wants to swing at so instead of lining out to right he can either hit the RCF gap or put it in the RF seats. He'll also be much better at driving the ball to CF. If he does this and succeeds then pitchers will start seeing how he handles stuff inner portion of the plate which he might handle better if he is good as being less tall and shortening the arms to pull the ball much like we saw recently from Tim Anderson and Abreu.
  18. Tall people get that a lot. I don't know how many times I was called Shorty, Big Bird, Big Foot. Lurch (Addams Family reference) Daddy Long Legs , Jolly Green Giant, Stretch, Slim, Drink of water either long , tall or cool, Bean Pole, Too Tall. The list goes on forever. Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain Willie "Stretch" McCovey Ed "Too Tall" Jones
  19. Yes I know but before the surgery Hahn was saying that Dunning could have competed for a spot in the rotation for 2019. I don't know if that was him just blowing smoke saying nice things about a guy about to have surgery but he did say it. Others also believe Kopech will go back to the minors when he returns.
