Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread
Have you ever stepped in a hole that might be a foot deep ? Your whole body goes forward while your foot stays in the hole. That could really fuck up an ankle. It's plausible . Believable or not it takes too much money and time to find the real truth which is why they came to an agreement and that agreement was a big win for the Mets.

Rest of the Off Season
I like Mendick. SSS size on his production last year . But when I was talking about trading Madrigal for Zac Gallen because 2nd base could easily be filled. Some brought up the available guys who suck at 2nd base so I had to bring up the guys available who don't suck who could be used at 2nd base and I included Mendick and Iglesias.

No stepped in a hole on his ranch.

Rest of the Off Season
Also could probably play 2nd base before Madrigal comes up.

Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread
That's pretty big news regarding Cespedes. Mets have been looking for salary relief and they got it without making a trade. Also always love the incentive based contracts for guys like Wacha . Low base salary but plenty of incentives to reward them for not only being productive but also taking the field consistently.

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
Sorry JR the Cubans cost more than others I guess.

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
What did The Athletic predict $120M ? Lot of us thought that was low. Who the hell knows at this point.

Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
I watched MLB network a lot during the Winter Meetings. Mark DeRosa (ex MLB player) usually acts like the in house hitting coach and thinks Mazara is a little too busy with his hands. Of course everyone has an opinion on how to get more from him .

"Or do something really creative like signing 3-5 of those scrap heap pitchers" I give you a like because that was me who suggested that

Expectations
I think the vast majority of the fan base knows that its the pitching that will either make or break the Sox, You see a lot of of posts about adding a RF and a DH stiil and add bad fielding OF's many posters wanted to make the playoffs this year unrealistically . It hurt to lose Wheeler because even if not expecting the playoff he was a big part of the next step and while many were skeptical of Bum, Ryu and Keuchel now we are begging for one of them and chances are with Boras and preferences for the NL or California being likely maybe we only have a real shot at one of them. and have to convert. Next year's starting pitcher crop is uninspiring . Maybe Kopech or Cease or Lopez steps up. Maybe some prospects step up The window is going to be small and close quickly . Maybe we can do a Royals and get lucky but until we start investing more money into IFA and player development using sports science the Sox are going to be the same old Sox they have been for over 100 years. Fans will be praying for a savior owner and it hasn't happened yet in the long terrible history of this franchise. You cannot fail or not participate in so many areas that involve young players like every type of free agency and in drafting and development and expect anything lasting.

Time to rebuild the rebuild?
Now this I can truly say is spot on. Include IFA in the drafting portion of it just to give it an extra ummph !

Expectations
I generally like your posts but maybe you keep forgetting that other teams actually use international FA to pump more young blood into their franchises and have been doing that for a long time. The Sox threw $50M at Robert. If they had been playing that game for as long as some of the other teams we might have come up with more than that. Oh shit I forgot we did. We came up with Tatis and he was snatched up by a smarter organization from us. Also the Cardinals have a great fan base and continuously have great player development. The Sox couldn't find a single diamond in the rough or create one from their 2nd round and higher draft picks You were right about your predictions but expecting a long run of success ain't happening.

Don't forget Eloy could improve by a bunch. I'm expecting it. He won't be at Yoan's WAR level but he could be the better hitter.
-
Time to rebuild the rebuild?
That's what I've been arguing all along. Their problem and looking for suckers to bail them out at their price because OH no pitching is so expensive. Fuck Boston.
-
Time to rebuild the rebuild?
Next up Burnin' Down the House !
-
Time to rebuild the rebuild?
Ha i was just editing it to include that.

Time to rebuild the rebuild?
And you may find yourself Living in a shotgun shack And you may find yourself In another part of the world And you may find yourself Behind the wheel of a large automobile And you may find yourself in a beautiful house With a beautiful wife And you may ask yourself, well How did I get here? Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down Letting the days go by, water flowing underground Into the blue again after the money's gone Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground And you may ask yourself How do I work this? And you may ask yourself Where is that large automobile? And you may tell yourself This is not my beautiful house! And you may tell yourself This is not my beautiful wife ! Same as it ever was Same as it ever was Same as it ever was Same as it ever was

Sox and Sawks to see if the Price is Right
Then why are we calling it the we suck tax ?
-
Sox and Sawks to see if the Price is Right
Well they made the best offer and it's very possible he just wanted to play in Philly. We have no idea if his agent came back to the Sox and said look you have the high offer but he's going to Philly and even offering more won't change his mind or said the opposite and told them just a little more and you have him. Without that info I can't condemn the Sox. If we truly are glass half full guys I can't blame any team if that happens . I think it's unreasonable for most to say just offer the most money and when we do turn around and now say there's a "we suck" tax. What's next another tax on top of that called the " you're not the Cubs tax " ? We don't suck. Grandal signed here and if a pitcher doesn't want to pitch to one of the best pitch framers in the game that's his loss. Fuck Wheeler more so than fuck the Sox.

Sox and Sawks to see if the Price is Right
Can't disagree with anything you said. Good talk ! It's a shame Wheeler picked the Phils. That was a major blow because he might've been the one guy who we had great shot at getting. Now the rest of the options with Boras or NL guys probably preferring NL teams are not half as appealing. Wheeler is the difference between what could've been a great off season and one of despair that's even getting the glass half full kind of guys like me and you troubled.

Sox and Sawks to see if the Price is Right
My bad was reading Daniels material at the same time when researching the Hamilton signing. but it was Jerry Di Poto.
-
Sox and Sawks to see if the Price is Right
But they need pitching even more than we do . Rendon went where the money was and maybe wanted to play with Trout but their starting pitching is a huge mess.
-
Sox and Sawks to see if the Price is Right
Moreno severely handicapped his GM with the Pujols contract. Upton was a -.9 in WAR last year and still has a few years to go. Don't forget Josh Hamilton who our good buddy Jon Daniels signed when he was GM ing the Angels. The Angels are the poster child of why you don't take on big contracts of aging and injured players. They got lucky that Ohtani preferred a West Coast team.

Sox and Sawks to see if the Price is Right
Yea because they are a joke and right up there with the Sox as far as gullible and misguided FO. A least in this case Reinsdorf's obstinacy regarding pitchers contracts might actually help us. Otherwise I'd say the Cardinals because they have a ton of MLB ready OF's to give up and it won't hurt them at all. But they won't be giving up Edmen or Carlson that's for sure.

Sox and Sawks to see if the Price is Right
People around here are so in love with the idea of getting Benintendi that they would happily take on that nauseating contract and convince themselves Price will somehow avoid more injuries as he ages for a mere $96M and even willing to give them Collins for that privilege.
