Now the rest of the options with Boras or NL guys probably preferring NL teams are not half as appealing. Wheeler is the difference between what could've been a great off season and one of despair that's even getting the glass half full kind of guys like me and you troubled.

Moreno severely handicapped his GM with the Pujols contract. Upton was a -.9 in WAR last year and still has a few years to go. Don't forget Josh Hamilton who our good buddy Jon Daniels signed when he was GM ing the Angels.The Angels are the poster child of why you don't take on big contracts of aging and injured players. They got lucky that Ohtani preferred a West Coast team.

Yea because they are a joke and right up there with the Sox as far as gullible and misguided FO. A least in this case Reinsdorf's obstinacy regarding pitchers contracts might actually help us. Otherwise I'd say the Cardinals because they have a ton of MLB ready OF's to give up and it won't hurt them at all. But they won't be giving up Edmen or Carlson that's for sure.

People around here are so in love with the idea of getting Benintendi that they would happily take on that nauseating contract and convince themselves Price will somehow avoid more injuries as he ages for a mere $96M and even willing to give them Collins for that privilege.

From 2017-2019 the 31- 33 yr old Price pitched 74.2 ,176 and 107.1 innings . Do we expect that to get better in his age 34-36 yrs ? He is a headache to the Red Sox in both salary and with the fans and media because of his very public feud with Dennis Eckersley.They are looking for a sucker to take that headache off their hands. Used car salesmen would be proud of them.

I'm not even real sure there's real interest from so many teams. I'm pretty paranoid about Boston writers/fans and fake leaks creating false interest in order to help out the Red Sox. The good old fashioned all for one and one for all hyping up the product and pretending Bostons desperate situation is now the buyers desperate situation.

Highest contract in White Sox history goes to 34 year old David Price for just 3 years at the tail end of his career bailing a rich team out their own created mess and taking the headache he has become with the fans and media is not is a look I like and Beni is just a dream. It won't happen

I'm trying to be realistic in getting Boston to pay as much of that contract as possible. They got themselves into that mess and they got Price's best years. If I have to take his worst years I want money and a player and don't want to give up much of anything. Ask for Beni and it's take the whole contract and give me one of your good prospects.

All I'm saying or really asking is it widespread at all levels and used routine by people qualified or learned enough in proper pitching and hitting techniques to get players to buy into it . Remember last spring training all we heard about was how the Dodgers had all these high speed cameras and the Sox didn't have any .

They are making progress on analytics but I'm not real sure how far behind they are in the whole sports science stuff using hide speed cameras and attaching things to a players body much like the movies do to an actor in order to create a CGI appraisal of a guys movements. I think they are way behind on that stuff. These kind of player development tools are getting to be SOP among the forward thinking teams.

Well he has to hype the product too. The temptation comes from teams offering things for guys you want to keep like Gio and Robert, Eloy, Moncada, Kopech Cease probably even Lopez I think it's great you are being patient. Still a lot of time to go this off season. I'm expecting a big trade.Prospects will be involved unfortunately but that's where we are at. I know a lot of people love them some Madrigal but he's not a run producer so I'd expect him gone if the Sox do indeed trade prospects.

It wouldn't have to be the last move the Sox make. I think too much emphasis is going to the lineup now. We need a 2 starters and a RH handed reliever. Workman is one of the best or was last year and If Benintendi goes with Price in a deal I'd bes shocked unless a team is throwing in a decent prospect player also. You have seen how big contracts have handicapped the Red Sox and the Cubs at the top of the luxury tax level, The Sox will never operate up at that level so every contract close to $100M better be one that we are sure the talent and health is there. Not sure of any of that with Price.

They certainly don't want to give up Benintendi and the Sox certainly don't want to take all of that contract, The Sox need pitching more than they need Benintendi or yet another DH. How many DH's do we need ? Maybe taking all of that contract gets them to do it more than another offer but really 34 yr old Price for 96$M ? Might as well just pay Bumgarner then. I'm not real keen at helping yet another team get salary relief because they gave out stupid contracts by taking on their stupid contract thus making it our stupider contract because now the guy is old and made of glass . I was at the Disco Demolition game. I was in Anaheim Stadium when the Sox clinched the pennant in 05. I was in Chicago in September for a hastily put together family reunion to watch my 85 yr old dad throw out the 1st pitch in the Sox DH that got rained out against Detroit. Danny Mendick caught it. It was sort of a commemoration of 4 generations of Sox fans gathered up from around the country for that game.We went to a game one year and I found a picture of my dad and 2 of my brothers in the program in an ad for Family Day in 1974 . The pic was a few years old but there they were. So here's a pic of the scoreboard with my dad and older brother , his great grand son and grandson.
