Tyler Saladino
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 10:58 PM) Shiiiiiiit. I was apparently sitting near Tyler's girlfriend and their dog Luna tonight. I didn't realize until after the game when a mutual friend of mine and Tyler's saw my snap and told me I was sitting right by her. Wish I would have introduced myself. My buddy had some interesting things/stories to tell me about Sale and Melky from this summer. Well ?

Tyler Saladino
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 04:51 AM) Player A Age 27 550 Career PA's .737 OPS 95 wRC+ 14.3 UZR/150 1.2 fWAR Player B Age 26.5 2,417 Career PA's .723 OPS 91 wRC+ -7.7 UZR/150 0.8 fWAR Those are only 2016 stats and the UZR/150 values are for 2B only. Regardless, I'll easily take player A as my starting 2B over player B. Not only has Saladino been far more productive this year due to his defense, he's also a less developed player and has room for growth despite being slightly older than Lawrie. I'm certain that with a full year of regular playing time his BB rate would increase (look at his minor league numbers) and he could become a 3 WAR 2B. Factor in the team control and there really is no argument for starting Lawrie over Saladino. There you have it right there in a nutshell. You mentioned everything but running and Saladio is also superior in that. No one should want Lawrie as a starter , too many K's , too often injured. Too often we hear that a super sub is too valuable to start. Just not true. Valuable is valuable and everyday is better than part time.

Tyler Saladino
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 12, 2016 -> 10:36 PM) Absolutely nobody is or has done that. Maybe not exactly as greg said but go back a year or year and a half and you will see many here deriding Saladino much the same way Carlos Sanchez is now.

Sept 12th Game Thread: White Sox-Indians
After the shutout yesterday it's great to see them bounce back and get the offense back on track. Have a day Avi.

Sept 11th Game Thread: ChiSox vs. KC Specials
Home plate ump against Sox hitters is calling the outside strike against lefties evidenced by Eaton and Melky's AB's but not against righties( Anderson and Saladino walks ). Just another example of the vagaries of umpiring and why I take pitch framing stats lightly.

Sept 11th Game Thread: ChiSox vs. KC Specials
I'm honored that you continued the use of Specials in place of Royals .

The Sox look to extend their winning streak to 4 games at home and keep playing the spoiler role.

And that's a White Sox Winner !
I know even after winning we haven't had a winners thread lately, however this game deserves one. The Sox fell behind early 2-0 on a catchers interference call, a bloop hit and a 2 out slap hit by Kendry Morales. After that it was all White Sox. They probably played one of their most well rounded games despite not hitting any HR's. Eaton had 2 doubles one down the LF line and the other one hopped the fence in right. Tyler Saladino had a double , a steal, 3 hits and 2 RBI while getting his 1st back to back 3 hit games of his career. Abreu had 2 hits and an RBI. Melky 2 RBI on a sac fly and a hit. Avisail Garcia went 2 for 4. Tim Anderson had a hit and a steal. Morneau had a hit and RBI. The bullpen pitched 3 innings of 1 hit ball. Dan Jennings in particular went 1.2 with 3 K's without giving up a hit and lowered his ERA to 1.76 . And finally Carlos Rodon pitched 6 inning with 9 K's, 2BB 2 runs, 1 earned run. It was the Sox 3rd win in a row against Central division opponents. It was also a great way to celebrate halfway to St. Patrick's Day and Jason Benetti's birthday. All in all the kind of game we wished we had witnessed more this year. With Shields pitching tomorrow it's likely to come crashing to and end but for a night the Sox looked like a very good team.

Misc. Sox Quotes & Tweets
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) There's one Hahn got right. Not really . The time to get rid of him was the year before. I know many here wanted it.

Prospects of the Month - August/September
QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) Hard not to be excited about Alec Hansen the way he performed this season. Really, almost all of the 2016 draft class gave us a lot of reason for hope and excitement going into 2017. I haven't seen a draft class perform like this both pitching and hitting in I don't know how long with the Sox. It's very exciting and unprecedented.

Jon Heyman: Sox have little interest in moving Sale or Quintana
QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 07:25 PM) Really pumped about the emergence of Rodon. Looks better and better each time out. He's looking like an ace in the making and possibly as soon as next season. That rotation is downright nasty if they get that #5 spot tightened up. Ha so Sox are hitting, starters are going good .Wouldn't it be sad/funny if the Sox really look as though they could compete next year only to start the major sell off in the off season .

K.C. Specials @ Chicago WHite Sox
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 08:25 PM) Did it occur to anyone that it is H.S. football season and games are played on Friday evenings? I'm sure everything mentioned is a contributing factor including what you said. Game threads have been about 3 pages for the last 2 weeks regardless of what day or night of the week it is.

K.C. Specials @ Chicago WHite Sox
Good starting pitching, good hitting, good relief pitching. Some clutch hitting , some steals , some small ball. One of the most well rounded victory's of the year . Good game for halway to ST. Patrick's Day and Jason Bennetti's birthday.

K.C. Specials @ Chicago WHite Sox
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 08:09 PM) Saladino is a perfect guy to play on a rebuilding club. Maybe next year he gets his 550+ PAs. Back to back 3 hit games for the 1st time in his career. RBI's, a steal . Slg % back over .400.

K.C. Specials @ Chicago WHite Sox
QUOTE (Insp @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 06:58 PM) Typical: White Sox ahead, nobody's posting. Pretty much the same as every year the Sox are out of the playoff hunt. Might be fans rooting for losses to get a better draft pick than rooting for a win. I could never do that I enjoy every Sox win.

K.C. Specials @ Chicago WHite Sox
Rodon's settled down and hopefully can make it through 6 . Pitch count at 96 with 1 out and 1 on.
-
K.C. Specials @ Chicago WHite Sox
2 more for the Sox . Eaton double. Melky single drives him in. Abreu singles through the hole into right. Morneau also singles to right driving in Melky. Frazier ends the inning with a GIDP. 5-2 Sox.
-
K.C. Specials @ Chicago WHite Sox
Good inning for the Sox to take the 3-2 lead. Saladino double , steals third .Then ANderson drives him in with a single, steals 2nd advances to third when the throw hit him and went into CF . Melky pop out but Abreu gets an infield hit to drive in Timmy . Abreu looks befuddled by Ventura's off speed pitches but managed to barely pull the low outside curve to dribble one up the 3rd base line that knocked in Anderson.

K.C. Specials @ Chicago WHite Sox
White Sox looking for their 3rd straight win. Rodon looking to continue his recent stretch of good starts.

Jose Abreu
QUOTE (harkness @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 05:06 PM) Abreu has been great lately... its pretty crazy. Hopefully he keeps that going next year - because this team is way more fun to watch when he is this guy. I'm not however going to do the whole revisionist history act... he was very pedestrian for a lot of the season: For a long time he was leading MLB in men left on base... he still ranks 144 out of 153 qualified batters or something. He left *hit ton of RBI's out there... and he still could reach 100. that's pretty crazy. Hopefully he carries it into the beginning of next year and beyond. Next year ? I thought we were going to rebuild ? Next year for another team perhaps .

Tim Anderson has improved his defense
I'll just go out on a limb and say Anderson is for real.He might hit more HR's then Alexei too. I think he D will also be on par if not better than Alexei . I'm not slighting Alexei in any way either.
