  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) Moises makes the game fun. He knows he's a 4th outfielder, good defense, great arm, the bat could be there and he's a great clubhouse guy. Hahn I hope you read this board and bring back Moises! Him and Abreu were pretty close from all appearances. Maybe even a little too close from some of the vids I've seen
  2. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) Pick him up!!! Designate Shuck. I love what he brings to the clubhouse. Plus, he's the only one that made Conor smile! I said in another thread that I miss Moises Sierra and got the response "said no one ever". Glad to see I'm not the only one.
  3. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 01:36 PM) He fits pretty damn well if the Sox can jettison Viciedo. (I'm only saying that because I want him torturing Conor again) Hey we bring back Peavy , Beckham, Moises and AJ and we're all set
  4. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 01:10 PM) When it was over did Samardizija tell Robertson that he's had to talk about the same s*** the last 5 years? I knew I heard him say "s***" lol.
  5. Shark remembers coming to the park and watching Sammy Sosa before he was traded.
  6. Lots of background chatter. Heard someone say the Cubs are still the Cubs.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 10:00 AM) I think the $10M is heavily incentivized on him reaching 200 innings. No I think that's the base salary with another 4M in incentives .
  8. The video is already streaming at http://www.csnchicago.com/page/livewhitesox jerseys laid out .
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 09:22 AM) If they can find the right piece, I think the next biggest hole is in the rotation. Morrow signs with the Padres. Brett Anderson with the Dodgers for $10M for 1 year. Damn that's a lot for a guy who is never healthy.
  10. The press conference introducing Samardzija, Robertson and Melky will be carried live on MLB network today . 3:30PM EST . Figure your time from that Probably better coverage of it on CSN Chicago also streaming live on their website.
  11. Well Stone Pony I'll tell you what . Everybody wins 60 and loses 60 . It's what you do with the other 42 that makes a difference.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 07:02 PM) I enjoy hearing from both sides. Traditional and saber/ new age baseball philosophy brings a healthy and interesting aspect to discussing baseball. Oh I agree . In the Predict the next move thread I did my own WAR calculations for the lineup before the big trades for Shark and Robertson went down when a poster said the additions so far hadn't caused him to "dream" like KW said The conclusion I came to was the next signings that would enable him to "dream" wouldn't be in the lineup but a RH starting pitcher and a closer. Next thing you know BAM, the Shark and Robertson deals happened. That is the baseball talk I prefer.
  13. If you want one cheap buy it from a Cubs fan . Add some alterations to it to make it unique like change the pinstripes from blue to black and find a JAWS, Notre Dame and Sox patches to stick/sew on it . Or use a San Jose SHarks emblem cut out the hockey stick in it's mouth and replace it with a baseball bat. There u go unique as hell.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 06:49 PM) /Hawk Did they put TWTW in those sims ?
  15. Like that you're thinking big Lillian. However there's a reason Hahn han't traded Montas ,Danish and Adams. Of course there's also Rodon. That 2-4 year window is right when we should get some idea if Rodon , Montas Danish and Adams will amount to quality starting pitchers . Those guys are the Sox best hope at continuing on a winning path without breaking the bank.
  16. All you guys take the fun out of being a baseball fan, My team did all it could in a short period of time to get a lot better. I will impatiently wait for spring training and wildly cheer for my team. I don't care about what Steamer, Zips or Gladys Knight and the Pips say about the Sox. The only projection I care about is that spring is the time for optimism. What were all those projection systems and scouts saying about how Abreu would perform in his rookie season ? And guess who nailed it ? I did . A little bit of optimism combined with common sense and good health projects the Sox to be much better, which was the point of signings. I will let it unfold and enjoy it until the Sox are eliminated wether it's in the regular season or the playoffs. I don't need a computer simulation or 2 years of calculus to help me root root root for the White Sox.
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 09:42 AM) Cubs have 12/1 odds with 4 proven players on their team lol Aren't odds partially based on what kind of money is being bet on them ? If so that means there's just a lot of Cubs fans throwing money around.
  18. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 11:34 AM) I'm thinking he's still the best choice for backup C as we sit here today, so the options may not matter a whole lot. Of course, that could change. Let's hope he's taken a step forward. A more experienced backup might be a "finishing touch" type of move for this offseason. Nieto is having a very good winter league.
  19. Welcome to the jungle, we got fun 'n' games.
  20. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 02:58 PM) I'm in Chicago b****es! Ok, not b****es... that's said jokingly. All playing aside its nice to be driving around town scouting out a pizza joint. I settled on My Pie. Went to grandstand and had a funny conversation with an employee there. He was stoked about the sox and even mentioned I was very, very confused. DId you auto correct him ? And its drivel with an E Mister. Casual fan vs. casual speller.
  21. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Judge not lest ye be judged. The Good Book says it all. Now back to porn
  22. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 10:24 AM) Yes. I saw that. That's 28 at bats. It's better than a line of .150 .250. 350. .450 . Beside 2nd base is now the Sox biggest area of concern in the lineup. Doesn't hurt to have more competition to push the youngsters to play their best. Sanchez is really sucking in the winter league after his winter league play last year propelled him into a good season in the minors which led to his call up.
  23. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 10:10 AM) Wow really? How does Beckham playing at 2B possibly have that much effect on his hitting? It's also irrelevant because he was a much better hitter earlier in his career, when he was playing 3B, but not so much recently. Even last year albeit in a very small sample size (28 AB's) he did this .321 BA .367 OBP .464 SLG. .831 OPS at 3rd base. Just saying he wouldn't be the worst choice ever for backup INF. The Sox always pretty much kept him at 2nd trying to let him develop . But now that expectations have been lowered considerably, they could use him all over the INF. I still think the majority of casual Sox fans really like him. He's FA right ,so wouldn't have to deal with paying for his arbitration years either. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
  24. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 09:56 AM) Absolutely. I have to admit, I did not think the Sox would be able to pull it off but on paper, they look like they have. Eaton, Melky, Abreu, LaRoche, Avi, Gillapsie, Alexei, Flowers, Sanchez looks much better than the 2014 lineup. I wonder if the Sox will still add another arm in the pen? It's possible but the bench is still an area of concern. Need a backup RH INF who maybe has some OBP abilities and RH OF with good defense maybe a little pop. Maybe the Twins are tired of Aaron Hicks. He takes a lot of walks, some pop, speedy and really good CF. It should also be noted wasn't exactly in the Twins good graces by showing up later than expected for a day game. Not sure if there's any lingering effects from that. He's also a switch hitter.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 07:39 AM) Never thought I would see the day where Beckham would be an ideal bench guy on this team. He can play 2b and SS and hits lefties well 3B more than SS. I know the Angels played him at 3rd. Not sure he played any SS but he could do it. I just looked up Gordons career splits as a 3rd baseman. Not too shabby . 460 AB's 15 HR's .349 OBP .461 Slg. .273 BA. I'd take that kind of line from Conor this year in a heartbeat.
