  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 15, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) I admittedly have a higher estimation/valuation of Saladino than his numbers would warrant. And I hate rents....their high failure rate just does that to me. That the winning organizations don't dump their good young players, also does that to me. I'd rather that approach than than Kenny Williams 3/16 methods. But par usual, here come the pejoratives for Sox prospects.... "utility infielder" just like Trayce is a "4th outfielder" and Semien and Phegley (who out-hit 1/2 the Sox regulars last year) are scrubs. While Cooper was pining and awing over Hector Noesi, Bassit was putting up solid numbers for a back end starter. Let's not forget that utility infielder Escobar, who has outplayed every Sox SS since the Williams traded him. On what basis is Saladino a utility infielder... Because Cooper and Ventura think he is? Because he's not highly ranked? Sometimes solid, but not spectacular minor league numbers translate to solid major leaguers. Check out the Giants infield sometime. I'm kind of with you on this only because giving up 25-30 years worth of players for 1 year (in hindsight) of a sucky player or 2 years of players who still have to prove their worth feels pointless. It's so easy to say what we gave up is trash but maybe the light goes on somewhere along the way for some of these guys. With guys like Jackson and Latos on 1 year deals and Lawrie and Frazier on 2 years sustaining anything positive the Sox get might prove difficult.Yes everything feels good now but it can easily turn around quickly when others teams start getting 4 runs a game.
  2. It's a beautiful thing when most of page 1 is filled with " And that's a White Sox winner."
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 15, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) Everything he threw yesterday has decent movement. Latos throws a lot of different pitches, cutter, fastball, 2 seamer, curve ,slider , splitter and changeup. He knows how to keep hitters off balance when he can command those pitches.
  4. There used to be a running joke about Paul Konerko and his house. Forgot what it was but PK is selling his home if anyone is interested for a mere $6.9M. Link has interior and exterior pictures. http://www.latimes.com/business/realestate...0414-story.html
  5. Seems like forever that Suzuki, Plouffe, and Dozier haven't contributed mightily to Sox misfortunes. As Hawk says," It's not who you play it's when you play them." Pitching has been beastly. If Latos can be solid at 4 not even as good as he's been but ERA under 4.00 Sox make the playoffs, if key players remain healthy.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 07:23 AM) Numbers that were missed, or could be improved 0- Oscar Gamble 15-Dick Allen 17-Carlos May or Jerry Hairston 20-Joel Horlen 22-Jose Valentin! 23-Robin Ventura for sure 24-The Rally Crede 25-Tommy John honorable mention 28-Lyle Mouton/Wilbur Wood 30-Magglio Ordonez 31-Hoyt Wilhelm 43-Gary Peters 44-Wimpy 45-Carlos Lee honorable mention 47-Rusty Kuntz 48-Estban Loaiza 51-Terry Forrester 53-Dennis Lamp 54-Goose Gossage 57-Jeff Bajenaru, Soxtalk legend 60-Rocky Biddle 61-Jesus Pena 67-Scott Carroll 68-Jake Petricka 71-Scott Linebrink 73-Tony Phillips 77-Carlos Sanchez 99-Manny Ramirez 16 Ken Berry
  7. Eaton (3): CaliSoxFanViaSWside Rollins (3): Abreu (1): Condor13 Frazier (1): Melky (3): Avi (3): Lawrie (3): Catcher (3): Jackson (3):
  8. Coca (Coca leaves) Cola (kola nuts) . Yes Coke used to have cocaine in it.
  9. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) Have wondered the same thing, myself. Seems like Avila is Sale's guy, at least from what I read but I think Navarro should be starting. Frankly, Hill pitching tonight makes me a bit nervous. Sox have never had much success vs this type of pitcher but hopefully with multiple new faces it won't be an issue. Just means Avi is going to pull a hanging breaking pitch about 450 ft. !
  10. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Apr 2, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) I think most of his playing time comes from dh. Sox really need him to produce and hopefully he will. He'll be in the OF often . It's not like Melky is great out there either. Avi is faster and has just as good of an arm if not better than Melky though both have strong arms.Rotating the DH duties keep guys fresher.
  11. Sox take 3-2 lead after Trey double an error and a single by Timmy Anderson.
  12. So Avi, Abreu, Saladino and Davidson all lead the spring training Sox with 5 HR's.
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 08:00 PM) la bomba Translation: ABreu HR after a Rollins single makes it 3-0 Sox top of 4. Also Latos 3 scoreless 2 hits 3 K 1BB.
  14. This is an MLB Network game so tune in on your big screens .
  15. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 11:25 AM) Somebody who did not research his first tour of duty here. With such a small financial cost attached, there's a good chance at least one team will explore adding Swisher as a bench bat and a veteran clubhouse presence. An AL team is more likely than an NL team for Swisher since senior circuit clubs wouldn't have the benefit of the DH spot to preserve his knees. This is just my speculation, but the White Sox stand out as a team that could use some first base/DH depth now that Adam LaRoche has retired. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/03/brav...ck-swisher.html Have you been ? You should be .
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 06:29 PM) Well he's having a good spring. Why not bring him up to DH? He said when he first came here and didn't make the team it messed him up. He seems to have confidence right now. I hope it doesn't destroy it. That's my rationale. It's really great seeing Davidson hitting like he is. Just hope and pray he found something that propels him to stardom. That would be huge for the Sox . Would make Frazier trade bait for some nice assets . We all know what Ishikawa is at this point in his career . I don't exactly know who to want to make the team, If Davidson makes it , how often does he play ? He has to go down and prove all this mashing isn't just a mirage. But I surely don't want Ishikawa on the team . There's just not a lot of upside with him. Carlos Sanchez has been an extra base machine this spring. Again gives me hope that at some point he can be a pretty good little hitter and make Lawrie expendable. Davidson and Sanchez become long term ( cheap )pieces while the 2 year guys , Frazier and Lawrie can be turned into either major or minor league pieces. Ha so much hope in spring. It's embarrassing I still think this way . But it's why baseball is my favorite sport .
  17. Saladino with a solo shot 5-4 Dodgers in the lead after 7 1/2 .
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 26, 2016 -> 06:41 PM) Sands yes, Davidson no chance. But you thought Davidson would be released before Olt )
  19. 1-1 after 2 . Fulmer giving up 4 hits and 2 walks already but minimized the damage. Davidson had doubled ,Shuck single and Saladino sac. fly for the run.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 09:40 AM) Who says know to Johnson for Bruce with Reds throwing in 4 mil? Me. Don't want any part of Bruce.
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 23, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) There is no doubt the catching position has improved a lot But, but... pitch framing .
  22. The White Sox should... Trade Sale now for a huge package. 49.2% Trade him at the deadline if they're out of contention. 29.4% Keep him no matter what. 21.4% Total votes: 5,879 http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2626274...le-trade-market
