Albert Belle arrested for stalking The Arizona Republic Feb. 16, 2006 06:18 PM Scottsdale police arrested former baseball star Albert Belle on Thursday on suspicion of stalking an ex-girlfriend. Belle, who lives in Scottsdale, was taken into police custody at 10 a.m. and charged with felony stalking/harassment, police said. He was booked at Maricopa County 4th Avenue Jail. Stalking is a Class 3 felony in Arizona. Scottsdale detectives requested that Belle be held on bond because of the nature of a series of threats he made toward his 38-year-old ex-girlfriend, police said. The victim - also a Scottsdale resident - filed a report with Scottsdale police in January, accusing Belle of stalking. "We found out that there was lot going on, and that at some point, at least once, he threatened to kill the victim," said Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark. Geez-us Albert...get a friggin hobby or something. At least his police mug wasn't as bad as Glen Campbell's. That was classic!

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 11:40 AM) Good luck to him wherever he ends up, because obviously, his future doesn't lie with the White Sox. But this has Drew Henson written all over it. Wonder how Josh Fields will fare if he ever makes it to the bigs. Hell...Chad Hutchinson should give a clue also.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 03:53 AM) 4 to 6 weeks is not too bad. I'm sure Chris will come back strong. Don't s*** yourself...that's an initial prognosis...hard to tell at this stage...and like ARow said...hand injuries for power hitters suck. Just have to wait and see.

That is an impressive get off the heap on the surface...makes you wonder why a) nobody else has jumped on him....and B) Why the hell the DBacks wouldn't have kept him with that horses*** staff they have?!?

D-Backs' Young breaks hand CF to miss most of spring training Bob McManaman The Arizona Republic Diamondbacks center field prospect Chris Young, acquired from the Chicago White in the Javier Vazquez deal, suffered a broken right hand while working out in a Bradenton, Fla., gym on Thursday and will miss most of spring training. "Right now, we're looking at four to six weeks before he can return to play," Diamondbacks General Manager Josh Byrnes said. "He's going to miss his spring training at-bats, but I guess the only good news is that it happened now and not in season." Young apparently was doing some agility drills, jumping up and down off boxes, when he lost his balance, tried to brace himself, and broke his hand upon falling. He has been deemed the club's starting center fielder of the future.

Well...being a Californian...you'll probably migrate out here to Phoenix like everybody else and pay cash for a house...then you won't have to worry about it and just go to the games! I'm with ya on the comcast thing...I'd give my left nut to get Chicago Comcast!

For football...but states he plans on playing baseball there too. Out of Paulie's Scottsdale Chaparrel HS.

This pretty much summed it up IMO. To tell you the truth...who cares...as long as the Sox continuously put a good product on the field and are yearly contenders and hopefully bring home another winner this year. I'm just happy KW is in charge and has the competitive fire to put together a winning team. Let's just enjoy it now while we can.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) According to Kenny, he did give Frank a curteousy call. He had to leave a message, because Frank wouldn't answer his phone. Isn't it odd how Frank has found the time to attend the A's fanfest this weekend, but often had excuses to skip out of Soxfest. If he had re-signed with the Sox, chances are he would have used his current injury or recent marriage or some other excuse not to attend Soxfest. He may be a nice guy, but good riddance. Ditto. Ya know...Frank has always been somewhat self-centered but produced on the field (which he was paid well to do). Why is it that Frank feels the White Sox owe him this enormous amount of love, gratitude and ass licking. Frank...how many flags did you deliver in your tenure? You were paid to do a job. To this day...I still recall the moment when I lost a HUGE amount of respect for Frank. It was probably 6 years or so ago when the Sox were in the heat of a pennant race....and they were playing the Indians in a very important game. Frank was rounding 3rd and heading home and the throw came to the plate. Frank could have laid the catcher out trying to score...or at least friggin slide...but no....Frank just kind of pulls up and is tagged out. My first thought..."what a pussy!" Ever since that moment...my adoration for Frank Thomas started to sink towards whale s*** level.

Somebody fill me in....what the hell does that mean?!? Lead the league in game winning hits on days that started with the letter "S"....in months with 31 days that ended on Monday or Tuesday and had only seven at-bats in which he put a 2-0 pitch into play. What the hell's a VORP...is it like a VERP?

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) This was already posted in the thread about the Phil Rogers article on ESPN.com Well goody! thanks Rock!

Just a summation or something. It starts out like this on the front page: Before South Siders get high fives ready for '06, Rob Neyer has a warning: Stop believing. then on the link: White Sox could be in for a tough year By Rob Neyer ESPN Insider Archive Which of 2005's division winners won't repeat in 2006? We start with the assumption that the very best teams of 2005 won't be as good in 2006. Why? The technical term is "regression to the mean." In nonstatistician terms, the reasoning is simply this: Teams that win a significantly impressive number of games were probably a little bit lucky (among other things), and can't count on their luck to hold. Just wondering what leads him to believe we're in for a tough year...or maybe he's just running out of stuff to write about...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) you know you must be doing something wrong as a franchise. Since they've lost 90 or more games in eight straight seasons...I think that's a fair assessment. That's mind-boggling. I don't get it...it's not like they're completely void of talent.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) • The Athletics keep getting encouraging medical reports on Frank Thomas, in whom they remain interested as a valuable veteran addition to their mix. Doctors caring for Thomas say his recovery from foot surgery is progressing ahead of schedule. Didn't we he that alot last year?!?

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) Just FYI. For those that missed out on getting a local Chicago newspaper for the World Series. The Tribune has back issues available for only 90 days. So you have until about the 24th of January if you still want to pick one up for the World Series win. The ALCS win is about to be out of the 90 day window. They are $10 a pop. Their number is 312-222-3080. Checking on the Sun-Times on Tuesday. Thanks dude. I dumb question...would they mail them out?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) Whoa, 2 am closing time, look out. Yeah...we're stylin out here! Not that I see the 2am closing very often anyway! Hell...by 1am...I've had enough anyway if I'm out that late. Anyway...for DaBearSox: Here's a list of hotels and how far they are from the stadium. I set my Mom and Dad up at Crosslands (studio) which is pretty close to the park. Hope this helps... http://www.reservetravel.com/v4/redir.aspx...20Park&CCheck=1

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 09:02 AM) I found Tucson to be extremely boring. Get out to the bars EARLY, they still have a 1:00 am close time I think. It's 2am now...changed it last year....and YES...Tucson is extremely boring.

Definately rent a car...if you're down for a whole week...chances are the Sox will be in Phoenix part of that time...so check the schedule real well. I live in Phoenix (actually Glendale about 5 minutes from Peoria Sports Complex )...and my girlfriend is from Tucson and she was just down there a few weeks ago for a class reunion (which I weasled out of ). She told me her and her friends went to this club that was the best club she's been too in quite some time (set up, layout, music, etc...)...I'll ask her what it was and where I'll also look up where I got my parents hooked up at...an extended stay suite (can't remember which one...but it's about a mile and a half or two from the ball park.
