  1. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) Why would it be fraud? wants him to announce he can't play anymore, So who decides he can't play anymore...if he wants to and can?...just so they can cut a contract?
  2. Report: Astros ask Bagwell to retire ESPN.com news services Jeff Bagwell intends to play for the Astros this season, but the team isn't sure that's the best financial decision. The first baseman has played his entire career in Houston and leads the franchise in home runs (449) and RBI (1,529), but missed much of last season after shoulder surgery. "Nothing is going to keep me from attempting to play baseball next season," Bagwell told the Houston Chronicle. The team, however, wants him to announce he can't play anymore, he and agent Barry Axelrod told the paper. Then the Astros would be able make an insurance claim for $15.6 million of the approximately $17 million he is owed in 2006. Wow!...due $17M next year?!?....OUCH!
  3. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 12:13 PM) They merely mean that a body part is poking out where it shouldn't be. I hate when that happens! With a hernia...mostly depends on the extent and where it's at.
  4. Besides having enormous talent...does anybody think getting Tejada would be a HUGE mistake for the makeup and a little thing that was emphasized last year...chemistry?!? Personally....I'm sick of hearing about the guy....just STFU and play what you're paid $12M to do. Seriously...do you really want somebody waffling like this when things start to go a little bad on the team. Did we hear one player panic, b****, complain or moan during septembers freefall?!? Does this team really need this kind of crap?!?...no. Stay away from the light Kenny....
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) So we traded our number 1 prospect that everyone thinks is going to be a star CF, so we can reaquire other prospects. Boy you paint KW to be a moron.... Yup....that pretty much sums it up right there.
  6. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) The team there woudnt have any real fans just tourist. Kinda like the Diamondbacks!
  7. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I say hold Count until ST or the trading deadline, then get some great value for him when teams are most desperate to win now. I'd say this is a pretty likely scenerio. Protection for injuries, slides, etc... I can't see anybody really giving up too much for Count right now with teams knowing the Sox will try to move him.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) BRUUUUUUUUUCE Levine stated that there is a lot of interest in Contreras, and that he thought the Phillies had Abreau on the table for Contreras at one point. That's huge in itself that he thinks. Where's he pullin this stuff outta?!?
  9. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) Why would they trade him in the first place?? Ohh yeah Philly will go, yeah we traded you Thome now take the guy you gave us back As much as I like ARow...I can't see that happening. We may be better off with BA in the order than ARow anyway. Time will tell.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) The rotator-cuff exercise thingymajig? Yeah...that's it...or a version of it. I have to do alot anymore...I really screwed up my rotator or labrum playing out here still. But those things are awesome IMO.
  11. Do you guys do the rubber bands? I bought one last year for my son and have it attached to his bed.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) Does he have a change-up? Yeah...tought him what this guy that pitched with the Dodgers ages ago taught me...hold it with 3 fingers instead of 2 and choke it in your palm a little with the pressure on your thumb wrapped under. Same arm motion as your fastball. I don't have him throw this too much at all...I'm just trying to get him to be more consistant throwing strikes...then go from there. I'm a firm believer in long toss as well.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) I had to have elbow surgery my sophomore year in High School due to throwing junk in lttle league. It's not the best idea to have your 12 year old son throwing curveballs on a regular basis, he can really mess up his arm. Thought I replied to this already...but didn't show?!? Any way....I hear ya Kalapse. I've just started having him throw it. He throws more an overhand curve with alot of top spin (really has a ton of spin)...and his motion and arm action doesn't appear to put much strain on his elbow. Really is a nice pitch. He tries throwing a slider (his cement mixer)...but I tell him not to throw that. The thing out here in Phoenix...we play ball out here pretty much year round. He'll have 3 months off. So I try not to have him overdo it. He's just now really getting into it...so I'm just there to help him as much as I can and teach him... and help save his arm. My sister's kid plays year around and I'm worried his arm is gonna be shot by the time he's 16.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Contreras will almost definitely get traded now. As many on here know, I was saying all along he should be the one to get traded due to having the highest value at the time. Teams look at Contreras as a potential ace, where as Garland is more of a 2-3. I'm not so sure about that. Why trade a guy that could possibly be an ace?!?...especially at that price. Unless he brings back some really good returns. Could a deal with Tampa be on the horizon again?!?
  15. God I love this dude!....great story. I clipped and saved it to show my son (a 12-year old lefty pitcher who actually has developed a nasty curveball but has trouble throwing consistant strikes)...just in case he struggles and wants to give up baseball at some point.
  16. I got a hooded sweatshirt and the DVD. But the thing I've had the most fun with is a White Sox bottle opener that has audio of a Hawk home run call (hey...even though it was a Jose Valentin HR)...I still get a kick out of it.
  17. Jesus Christ Phil...try some decaf ya crackhead!!! That was ridiculous...but if it went down...I'd be ok with it...after the initial shock that some GMs went to this extent.
  18. Hell yeah...I'd love to see Cleveland do that trade!!!
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) Probably too many youngins here to remember Salome... a big time arm out of the 83 pen. How about Billy Joe Robideux And go 10 years before that...Cy Acosta
  20. El Duque can pass his physical? Shades of Sirotka?!? I'm sure reachin here...but just wondered that this morning.
  21. I think alot depends on what they have in mind for BMac. Why start a guy you plan on using for long relief. Maybe go with the thinking if he's not getting that much work...sure...a spot start every now and then. Personally I'm not crazy about that idea. I think it'll probably be a moot point anyway.
  22. Not to forget my favorite hearing Harry say his name (which could be another whole other list...Harry Name Butchery)... Bill Nahorodny I swear to God...I once heard Harry call Chuck McElroy three different names in the same inning.
  23. One of the names that jumps out at me from the past...and I still wanna kick him right in the ass...although not obscure... Jerry Dybzinski

    My rant

Very true. Or the points where people get pissed off with the fact the Kenny is trading away "prospects" to ensure that the Sox stay on top now. The future is now people. I understand that you have to look down the road...but I'd rather live high on the hog now. Kind of like when the Bulls where on there run...everybody loved it then. I still wouldn't trade that time for anything. Kenny is doing what' s best for this team.
