QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Admission: I am thouroughly enjoying these Detroit Radio Announcers. Very unbiased and very enjoyable broadcast. I was thinkin' the same thing. Not too shabby. Beats the s*** out of listening to some of those ESPN boneheads.

I never really liked sliding head first...maybe a handful of times in my life have I. I always thought it better going in cleats first with either a hook slide or just a pop up...reason being...a slight better chance knocking the ball out of a glove or just plain somebody not wanting a face full of cleats. That's my preference anyway. Plus for me...head first seemed to slow me down just a little. You risk injury either way...breaking a finger or catching a cleat and breaking your ankle. Plus I didn't spend 25 buckos on sliding shorts for nothing! Last time I slide head first my cup rammed in my pelvis so friggin hard it wasn't even funny.

QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) Mackowiak's 3rd K of the game. He's just overmatched. I thought this guy was supposed to be a platoon/off-the-bench type person. The dudes playing almost every single day. I'm sick of the right vs lefty crap.

QUOTE(rventura23 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 09:30 AM) were just getting our bad baseball out of the way early, lower the expectations from our great season last year a little bit What he said. A couple of different things going on to start this season. 1) BIG target on the Sox back in every series this year as opposed to last when nobody expected anything. 2) Our pitchers will get better when it starts to warm up. 3) Huge expectations could be a massive burden. Let's get this first couple of weeks out of the way...let the scribes call the Sox overrated and how last year was a fluke. Put that chip back on everybody's shoulder. I'm not panicking yet...jesus...it's only 4 games into the season. A big win today should calm everybody down. The biggest thing that stands out these past 2 games is the LOB...33 the past 2 games is not good. Remain calm...this team will go on streaks this year of dropping 3 of 4...then go on some 12 out of 14 streaks. Be coo foos!

Sox v. Kansas City, 4/7/06, Garland v. Affeldt
Wanne replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) Sheesh. Affeldt looking like Cy Young now. How often did that happen last year....score alot early...then shut down the rest of the way. -
Not sure how long this one has been up....pretty sharp though. Kudos!

Plus o'fer after moving to the 2-hole.

I saw a guy this year at Sox game this spring in Peoria that took his 35 Thomas jersey and used some black tape and made it into Thome 25. I told him, "nice Ghetto job...". Said he was savin his penny's (as he bought 2 of those killer brats).

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) Maybe "no comment" is what Gooch says to anything asked when his interpreter isn't around..? Definately stick with "Hai" and just nod.....or keep the handy notes close by. "i-yo" works pretty well...and has that "I'm down with your Western slang" feel to it. If you want to say "OK", please say "i-yo". If you want to say "I think so.", say "so-ne". If you want to say "Yes!", say "hai". If you want to say "Yeah.", say "a-" or "wn". If you want to say "Almost.", say "ma-ne". If you want to say "No!", please sat "dame". If you want to say "No, I'm not.", say "i-e".

Good question...I've had the conundrum for a while now and opted for #13! My son wants a Jenks jersey for his BDay. Personally...I want 'em all! But after I get Oz...it'll either be PK, Crede, AJ or MB. I really want an AJ jersey.

QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) They are nippling and not bearing down especially with men on base. They are not attacking the hitters. What the hell is nippling?!? Hey...it's three games into the season...and against a very good Cleveland team. Granted today was a pisser and a blown opportunity...but GEEZ...Broad Stokes guys or you're gonna have a stroke by June. What I saw today was complete over-anxiousness with our 3 and 4 hitters in key situations. Also remember...no Dye and Crede. As Kevin Bacon said, "Remain calm...all is well..."

Isn't that illegal what the pitcher is doing?...releasing contact from the glove and then putting it back in?
-
I feel some runs this inning! A Paulie or Thome jack!
-
Wow...that was quick. To quote Rosenbloom..."So what was your favorite Bucky Jacobsen moment?" Can't say I blame the dude though...surprised he doesn't just stay in the AL though.
-
Not to take away what it stands for...but it looks too "class-ringy" for my tastes. Here's some past ones. I just think some of the current past ones have more "bling"...except that god-awful Pimp-Meister Marlins one. I like the square look better. I know some will start rippin about this thread...I'm not b****ing about the rings...honest...I just think it could have been a little stronger. So Jerry had his wife design them?!?...his dime I guess. Personally...I think the Angels ones are nice. Again...just a personal preference to my tastes....not like I wouldn't kill to have one though!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) I always hated Vin Scully. His voice, to me, is like nails on a chalkboard. I liked him doing Billy Chapel's Perfect Game!
-
They just did a little clip about the pregame ceremony and showed Ozzie and ARow giving each other a HUGE hug in the dugout and talked to ARow for a bit. Got me just a little choked up. For as happy as I am having Thome and think BA will be ok...MAN I MISS AROW!

One thing Hafner said I hope the Sox take to heart...and am sure Oz will let them know:

QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 30, 2006 -> 04:43 AM) Point is noted... however don't blame her for the child support laws in this country. His offspring, ALL OF THEM, are entitled to the SAME financial advantages. His other kids have been being supported on an average of $13 MILLION a year. Also, she didn't ask for any more support. She asked him to help out with a car and college. HE'S the one asking for money back. And you don't feel sorry for her...? You don't feel sorry that her father - whom she seems to want a relationship with - won't give her the time of day? What did she do to him? Nothing. If he's got beef with the mother so be it. There is no reason to be a jag to the daughter. Stand up and be a man and take responsiblilty for your actions. Being a parent goes far beyond writting a check despite what some asshole men in this country think. Absolutely correct! Not sure how many people responding to this are actual parents...but it is the HARDEST but mosting rewarding thing there is! That just breaks my heart about his daughter...mostly just wanting some small relationship....anything...with her father. And Steff...don't get me started on CS laws. Not all cases are the same...and probably 85% of the time the Dads get screwed in some way shape or form. I'm a single dad of 4 (3 full-time)...and have spent more $$$ TRYING to get more time with my youngest...but continually come up against systematic, going through the motion bullcrap system. It's kind of like an HMO rate plan paid to physicians. Ever try going against a headcase mother with rich parents?!? I finally just gave up and excepted what "the law" doled out. Bottom line....RJ continues to show his true colors as a human being.

Nice wording.

Thanks for posting! Is there a better interview than Ozzie?!?...not even close IMO.

White Sox vs. Diamondbacks, 3/28/06, 2:05 pm
Wanne replied to Balta1701's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) Yep. It's been raining all day out there. It's good news though. AZ needs the rain bigtime. I haven't had squat for rain today NW Valley. Tomorrow will probably be a washout though. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 23, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) Also, am I the only one who thinks Cintron could be a better number 2 hitter than Iguchi or Uribe this season? Just some thoughts. No...I do to. I like Uribe at the bottom of the order where he was. This could play out well with somebody on Gooch's ass for playing time.
-
QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) So if you're Iguchi, you gettin' nervous? I think he should be. He strings a bunch of 0'fer games together...Cintron gonna be gettin alot of his time. Maybe not right now be nervous for Gooch...but I think he's smart enough to know he needs to produce or grab some bench once April gets here.
