  1. I'd be surprised if Boston let him go. If they did...I'd much rather have him than a few names I've heard. MUCH more than Larussa btw...but neither are available right now.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Morel did well in AAA, Beckham did well in AAA, so if it automatically just rolls over...................................please explain. Not following. I think you just contradicted your argument...
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) Adam Dunn needs to get his eyes checked. I've said that for over 3 months...
  4. You guys can argue all you want til you're blue in the face...nobody's gonna concede. Bottom line...it's time for a fresh approach within the entire organization. Walker, Cora, Baines, Ozzie...and hopefully Kenny. It's stagnant now...but at least an entire new staff IMO. And a question...what was DeAza hitting in AAA before he came up? I really don't even think putting a comparison of what DeAza's done due to Walker is realistic. How much time has he spent around DeAza...besides ST? Maybe Chambliss should be getting the credit.
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 04:16 AM) To think, the Dodgers were fielding offers for him after his underachieving year last season... That's what I was thinking....
  6. I still think Rios is the most tradable...granted you'll eat a decent portion of the contract. Addition by subtraction. Like I said in some other thread...the only thing you can pray for is Dunn busts his ass in the offseason and comes back strong...if he does there's an outside chance you could move him at the deadline IMO.
  7. Friday Happy Hour obviously started early for some...
  8. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Sep 22, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) The Sox wont go after any big name free agents this year. They need to unload contracts rather than add. We need to remember we are stuck with Dunn, Rios and Peavy next year. (Thats $30 million of dead weight) Out of those 3...I still think there's an outside chance Rios could be dealt (of course eating some salary). You have to hope Peavy comes out strong and could be potential trade-deadline bait. Dunn...you just have to pray for one of two things. 1. He works hard this offseason and regains a modicum of form. or 2. He picks up where he left off and is so distraught he says eff it.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 21, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) I've been saying that for a long time now, and I believe you have been too. Ozzie is all bark and no bite. Yup... I didn't see the guys get drilled until tonight....but damn! that was bs.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) Good lord...that's just wrong. but funny....
  11. I posted this in a game thread a few weeks ago. I'm f***ing sick of this bulls***! Somebody on the hill better nut up and take care of this crap once in a while. WWRJD-
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 20, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) Adam Dunn is now turning it around with a dozen games left. What was the blunder by De Aza? How did that happen? All I have is gameday and mad because I know it's on WGN ya know...since we're stuck with him...you can only hope he goes on a mini-tear to end the season and instill just a tad of confidence going into the offseason.
  13. Still can't believe that team didn't win the World Series...that team was a machine...until they hit the playoffs.
  14. Whether people believe Ozzie is trash as a manager or not...the team simply needs some fresh blood instilled into it. Complacency has set in...and that is NOT good. Personally I have more problems with the coaching staff...but Oz has certainly pulled his share of bonehead moves. I wish him well...but it's time to move on and get a new/fresh mindset in this organization. As for Kenny...personally if Ozzie goes...Kenny should go to. He did build this whether with Ozzie's input or not. His moves the past 3 years have been very expensive mistakes which will handcuff this team for a while. I'm just sick of the drama...AND lack of production. Underachieving has epitomized this team the past 3-4 years. Who does that fall on? Either way...time to move on. I love Oz...but ready for a change. Thanks for '05...but see ya.
  15. Can I be Juan Nieves...I'm good at doing nothin' and could fetch fathom his adult beverages. eww....pick me-pick me *hand stretched high*
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) Are the veterans going to respond to a rah rah kind of guy? You know, I'm not certain I understand what style manager Ozzie is. He doesn't seem like the Rah Rah type, but he doesn't seem quiet either. He defies discription. I do know repalcing him with another him isn't the answer. new blood doesn't necessarily mean "rah-rah". Hell...look at Kirk Gibson. Not rah-rah at all. Just a supportive, no bs guy that has surrounded himself with a great staff. The words, "respected" and stature come to mind. I'm not too sure Oz is respected anymore.
  17. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/6973624/...evance-demotion Let's just swap and get it over with..
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 11:28 PM) Just like how before 2009 which is when most of the names you've put on there came about. I'm not saying all so don't get all dramatic.
  19. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 05:06 AM) So he should be proactive and fix what isn't broken and ignore the problems? What GM does that? Every GM is trying to shore up weak spots first. I guess it's been more his decisions to immediately try and fix it that have been costly and failed instead of taking a more realistic approach. Swisher: fail Rios: fail Peavy: fail Dunn: fail And in a way being stuck with AJs big salary next year. Also shows the lack of building the farm system. We've got some decent talent now. But every one of his decisions have backfired...and not only that...very expensive backfires with some years on them. Kenny the Gambler rolled the dice and failed. You lose...yer out...simple as that. Sale: Nice pick. Humber: ok...give ya him
  20. Don't tease me... http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...igh-his-options
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) A huge problem of late is that all of Kenny's big moves (outside of Peavy) have been made to clean up significant errors in talent evaluation that hurt the franchise in previous years. Swisher's struggles led to Rios Kotsay over Thome led to Dunn Teahen's contract led to trading Jackson for Stewart/Frasor (I can't believe how much of a non-factor Frasor has been with the Sox). Exactly...he keeps reaching to fix a previous f*** up. Reactive instead of proactive.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) Our CFs were Wise, Terrero, Anderson, Erstad, Mackowiak and 50-year old Griffey Jr. prior to Rios. Of course there was excitement. But there was quite a bit of risk and potential downside. We've been b****-slapped with that risk and downside. Forgot about Swisher. That's just it...EVERY move Kenny has made has been out of seemingly desperation. That's not what successful teams do.
  23. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Didn't watch the game, but what are people's impressions on Reed? Nick Reed looked really good today da Bears! To quote 40-Year Old Virgin chick, "that f***er came outta nowhere...."
  24. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 06:19 PM) I've seen the replay a few times and still not sure if that hit the wall. No...it didn't. The replay I saw he flipped it back with his glove. Front view you couldn't tell. Kind of the side view obvious it didn't.
  25. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) hHoly Moly was that a catch wow !! that would have been at least a triple with Rios out there...
