  1. I think Dusty wanted to take him out after 6 but with the no-no let him pitch the 7th. baker was in the right here. If the guy couldn't make it through his last start due to injury then he shouldn't have gone more than 7 tonight.
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 21, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Did you ever think that they may not want to mess with Garland's mojo by starting him a day early? I don't think it's asking too much for a pitcher to throw on 4 days rest. If that is going to mess him up, then it was more of a fluke than reality. I think most around here scretly believe that because I am constantly hearing about Jon not being moved up one spot to separate the cuban Connection. If you guys though Garland was legit, you wouldn't mind. Again, 4 days rest is normal. The pressure difference between in Wrigley against Prior and against Anaheim is night and day
  3. Going by what I read in the thread, it was the Score who said Saturday. Either way it's pressure. Todya is national tv, tomorrow is still in wrigley against "the messiah". I personally would start Garland on Sunday on 4 days rest (normal for most) and then have B-Mac face Anaheim on Monday night in a more relaxed atmosphere. But then again I wasn't responsible for the 5th starter carousel so I'm sure they'll find a way to screw it up
  4. Funny after all those who said we were overreacting to Duque's pitch/inning counts. THis is no surprise
  5. No roids. He's been hurt because he plays so hard
  6. I've been hard on Freddy in the last year for not winning big games (Minnesota, Baltimore) so he has a great chance to shut me up and turn that perception around today. I think we'll get runs off of Maddux so we gotta pitch today.
  7. Best of luck to him, he provided us with a lot of excitement in those early 90's.
  8. I don't buy the Sox respect card. The rude truth is that we don't deserve many all-stars, becauase well, we don't have many stars. There is no way that Iguchi is among the 2 best 2-baggers or AJ in the two best catchers. Clearly, Rodriguez and Varitek have been much better. Now AJ vs. Posada for a third spot is a legit debate. While our great start should net us some selections we know that the Yankee votes will be high and that Tito should reward players like Damon, Varitek, and other guys who won't get voted in. I haven't filled my ballot out yet (I always wait until late June) so I don't know about any tricky stuff with positions but I think if we get 3 guys it would be just about right. Kong can't make it if Sweeney is the Royal choice (duh). The Tampa guy figures to be Crawford again instead of Huff. The Blue Jays will send Halladay and nobody else. That should sum up the one player teams.
  9. Why do soxtalk members continue to insist that Rownad is better defensively than Patterson? Sometimes I wonder if members here watch other teams play at all. Rowan is solid in Center but Patterson is an extremely good Centerfielder and I hate him so this hurts to say. Offensively, neither have been very good so Patterson gets by on a better rep for talent I guess. Hard to argue at all with the paper's selections.
  10. AJ is a sleeper but I'd say Hermanson, Buehrle, and Garland. Why do people think that they are going to carry three second basemen? That won't happen. It's Sori and Roberts. I'm not convinced that Sori doesn't win the fan vote despite Roberts' great start. All that old Yankee love should help him. I doub AJ does make it though because I figure I-Rod wins the fan vote and Tek is picked by Francona since he's actually been really great this year and managers are supposed to help their own
  11. man would I love to gvet Chavy. He's even better than Joe at D too which is sayign something. He's one hell of a player who is just weeks away from taking off. I don't really believe the rumor as I think the A's would wait until he starts hitting again to increase his value. Same deal with any Mike Lowell rumors to other teams
  12. It's kind of mean to post those pictures for that purpose but this is likely a minority dissenting opinion. Anyways, this article shows that Jay is actually capable of being a good writer when he's less concerned with being a personality. Many of his articles don't even include quotes other than ones he pulled from other sources but this was well crafted. Unfortunately, which ever way the wind blows dictates the mood of his column. I guess many of the torch-carriers around here sent Rob nasty e-mails after his no Sox questions line in the opening of the chat this week.
  13. I'll settle for a four gamer I'd say just three to beat hte Flubs but Judy is going on Monday in Anaheim so I hope he makes it 9-0
  14. I thought he'd struggle to hit 10 this year but catcher's sometimes develop power after the 27 year old curve. It just comes later for them for some reason
  15. I hope you are right about Jose but let's not annoint him "pressure pitcher" yet. He was traded from there for nto being very good. In fact, his only real success in NY came out of the pen. He's been solid in 05 though
  16. Maybe you are right about us waiting for the other shoe to drop but being 28-12 doesn't mean we don't have legitimate concerns that need addressing (at least on a meaningless message board)
  17. Astacio has exceptional stuff tonight. Good little duel here
  18. From all accounts I read, RFK was supposed to be very pitcher friendly. Their hitters have hti, but their pitching (including Loaiza) has been very good so it might just be that they are a good team that hits and pitches well in that park.
  19. You guys do know that Washington is 21-17 and the best story in baseball right? Can't see them trading a middle-of-the-order hitter. They will contend until at least July in my opinion
  20. Having a pitcher throw on Tuesday and Sunday is not messing with a guy. That's what most starters do. I can't for the life of me figure why people think moving Garland up one slot is goign to rock the boat. Plus as a side bonus there is the fact that Judy would get to pitch in the weekend series instead of on Monday at Anaheim....
  21. With the off day on Thursday you could move him up by having him go today and Sunday
  22. I was at the near-no-no by Washburn where Frank hit a game winner. THat was summer 03. Not sure about how many since but that's the furthest back it could go
  23. While Carl plays none of them well, he does play all three positions which I guess gives us some options when it comes to days off
