Second baseman Jose Miguel Fernandez defects
Definitely go after him. I don't care if he's fast if the man can get on base for Abreu to bop him in.

Thing is the Lakers really don't have many better options anyway. I don't think D'Angelo Russell is going to be anything other than a serviceable guard. He seems more concerned with the Hollywood lifestyle from what I've heard. Athletically, he's not as good as other PGs. His shooting hasn't been great, and he gets burned on defense. Randle looks like a Taj Gibson with minutes. Lakers should've taken Jahlil. With that stated, they are better off with Kobe shooting them out of games and hoping they get a top 2 pick so they can grab Ben Simmons.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 22, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) Worst ppv in awhile. Another chance to do something big that may attract viewers and get people talking but nope. I actually thought for a second they were going to do everything to make Roman look like a face. Win tourney clean, spear HHH, the beat Sheamus on cash in. I agree. I hated it to be honest. Very boring. Best part was New Day trashing Atlanta or Owens v Ambrose, but even then that was forgettable.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 22, 2015 -> 03:04 PM) Go watch her stand up and you can see how awful her boxing is. It wasnt just one punch. There is video of her throwing a jab where she lifts her leg like she's about to deliver a pitch. Every boxing coach in the fight game is saying how awful her stand up is. Can you imagine what Cyborg would do to Rousey? That'd be a savage beating again. Rousey couldnt get a takedown because Holm wasnt stupid to come rushing in on her, which is exactly what her judo skills looks for. And I like plenty of UFC fighters but I'm not going to fall victim to the Dana White hype machine. He is a POS and watching his golden fighters fall is entertaining. All you have to do is post a couple of gifs. And just so you guys don't say it's one screenshot

Dodgers hire Dave Roberts as manager
A bench coach for the Padres. I would've went with Kapler out of the finalists. In the end, the Dodgers right now are like the Clippers - they're missing mentality more than anything.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 11:45 PM) With Rose/Dunleavy, we'd look better offensively. Disagreed. I said it in the offseason. When Pax fired Thibs, and didn't get any new players to improve this squad, that let me know that Paxson thought this roster was good enough to win it all and it was the coach's fault they weren't getting it done. Today, even at 100%, they still don't have enough.

Bulls don't seem to secure the rock at all. Jimmy was looking for a fast break before he had the ball. Noah is the same. Niko and Pau also had balls stolen off of rebounds due to not securing.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) You've got to start Rodman at the 5 and kukoc at the 4. Rodman/Longley is a joke offensively and would be exposed so bad by modern defenses. Warriors start Bogut still. Longley would negate him. Rodman would play mind games with Draymond and probably get him ejected. Bulls had Ron "The Mitten" Harper, Jordan, Pippen and Rodman defensively who could all switch, had really long arms, could rebound well for their positions and could guard the perimeter. Pippen would probably guard Stephen, Jordan would cover Thompson, and Harper would cover Harrison Barnes. Rodman obviously would cover Draymond. I think that Bulls team could beat GSW. Will the Warriors win 73? I think this is the first team I can say can. Are they better than that Bulls team? I don't think so. And yes, they are two separate questions.

White sox open to trading Avisail Garcia
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) That team would barely play .500. Not one of the 3 big weaknesses addressed. Trade the farm or 3 Marlins? Good lord. Ozuna had a 1.1 WAR and a sub .700 OPS and over 100 Ks. Did I read Eric Johnson + for that? Does anybody even look at numbers? Fernandez is great but the position is not a priority. Poor use of resources. Gordon was traded for a top 50ish prospect who was then flipped for 1 year of Kendrick. yes he had a career year...which is exactly when the Sox should not trade for him. I agree with you. On the surface, looks exciting, but we don't need Fernandez. He's electric, but the thing we actually can develop is pitching. Ozuna is meh. Gordon I'm still skeptical.

Kershaw wants Puig off the Dodgers?
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 10:15 AM) Yeah and supposedly it is that type of humor that the guys like. The media hates it but the players in the clubhouse like it and he kept them loose. Think of Maddux peeing on everyone in the lockeroom. Plaschke is the pits. Guy is a fraud. By the way, I didn't realize you had moved out here (or at least I assume you did since your pimping a lot of the shows I listen to). 570 is the worst, with the exception of the morning on 710. Dan Lebatard is the stink. How does anyone listen to that crap. Yeah, but Greinke doesn't do it with any intention of being funny. If I was his teammate, I'd be pissed about him doing something like that. And I moved out here back in June. I'm rooting for the Dodgers since the Sox are my AL team, but I also follow the Angels and have been to like 10 of them this past season.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) Do we really need a wing that desperately? A true point guard, sure, but a wing, I don't know. Between Butler, MJD, Dougie, and Snell, I'd say we have those minutes covered. Would it be nice to have a better 2, absolutely, but I don't know that I am a big advocate of moving a big, especially knowing that Pau is older, and Noah/Gasol have had injury issues. I am fine with the roster as is for now (with exception of the PG spot) and I also understand at some point, Portis will get some minutes (when a big gets hurt / when we give some of our bigs days off). I think right now we are trying to build chemistry and thus not giving days off, but as the season goes on, I expect some Pop like healthy inactives from our starters / bigs. Bulls need a dominant scorer. I don't think it necessarily has to come from the wing position as I think Jimmy is good enough to create offense at the wing. I actually would want to get all new bigs outside of Portis and Mirotic as they are getting old and pricey.

Kershaw wants Puig off the Dodgers?
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 20, 2015 -> 12:56 AM) I love Greinke and I have heard from multiple people close to the Dodgers that he has been their leader (and one of the few). Supposedly keeps things very loose. Kind of like Maddux a bit in that he's a big jokester, etc. He can be a dick to the media though but when he is, its usually pretty funny. I also agree with your other points though and I would also point out that in general the Dodgers are a mess. They cleaned a lot up this past year but they still have major issues in that clubhouse and Puig definitely doesn't feel the love. I think a change of scenery could do him well and I'd be all over a deal. I think the upside is worth it. Would love the Dodgers young catcher and Puig for Q, but probably not realistic. I have heard almost the exact opposite. He doesn't speak much apparently, and when he does, it's to point out something he doesn't like, or he'll say something really awkward or off the wall. A popular story I've heard is that during a players meeting, everyone spoke their peace. Greinke, supposedly doesn't even say much during those meetings, but he told everyone he had something to say. Everyone was pretty interested because he usually doesn't say anything, and he commented on an anonymous person's bathroom tendencies and how it bothers him. Everyone laughed at first because they thought he was joking and was going to actually say something, but then he didn't and he had a very serious look and it ended up being very awkward. EDIT, I had the order backwards. Everyone looked at him awkward and then laughed when they say he was serious. Mason and Ireland even brought it up during one of their shows here in LA. I think Plashcke also mentioned it on his show. Here's a link: http://larrybrownsports.com/baseball/zack-...-pooping/265283

Kershaw wants Puig off the Dodgers?
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) Blocking isn't the opportunity cost. The opportunity cost is using assets on Puig instead of improving several other positions. His D is less than exemplary as well. Sox need to build, not star-gaze. In one sense, though, he's the anti-Swisher. While Swisher didn't fit into the clubhouse, Puig's clowning would fit right in as long as Ventura is in charge. Building is the priority, so any consideration of Puig has to be at a steep discount. We have no one to block as no one is as good as him on this team tbh if healthy. I also don't see alternatives to be honest. And his defense is good, thing is, the Dodgers clubhouse is not a loud bunch. Puig reminds me of Sammy Sosa (a bit better) in that he needs the clubhouse to embrace him and his ways and he'll pay it back. If you don't, he becomes miserable and if you blame him, he becomes useless. Dodgers blamed a lot of their problems on him.

Kershaw wants Puig off the Dodgers?
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Nov 19, 2015 -> 05:51 PM) Greinke is such a b****. The way he beaned Q and then b****ed about it has always rubbed me the wrong way. Also he says a lot of dumbass s*** to the media about his team and team mates and the opposition and then falls back on the "I'm a misunderstood introvert" BS. No, you're just a dick dude. This. Everyone in LA Sports Media hints at it, but won't come out and say it because Greinke has been great for them. I think it's a case of the Dodgers not having a strong player leader (They've wanted Greinke and Kershaw to assume this role, but they haven't. And AGon is like Konerko in that he rather lead with his play), and Greinke being a complete primadonna. Puig is one of those players who if your team embraces, he will play all out for you and put up numbers. The Dodgers, don't embrace him. With that said, Friedman didn't sound like he was going to deal him. He basically told Puig to get into shape during the offseason as Andrew blames Puig's troubles on that.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 10:09 AM) Too me she looked out of shape and tired quickly. She also seemed more to be fighting more towards Holm's style and not her own. Overall, Holm just destroyed her. She got destroyed, but she looked out of shape because she ate a few big punches and had two failed grapples which take a lot out of you. Rousey has said she doesn't need to get in shape because she's constantly training year round, so conditioning is not an issue. She got wayy too cocky (not even touching gloves before the fight), and tried to come out-boxing Holm. She very quickly got a taste of Holly's punching power, so she tried to go to her main strategy right away and get Holm on the ground and in the armbar. She got Holly down once which Holly was able to escape rather easily and Holly got her down. Rousey only go two good shots in and when she was trying to box, she showed horrible technique - kept her head in a straight line, no movement, kept the hands down and chin up. And Ronda's mom was definitely right about her trainer - he's horrific. After the first round, he told Ronda she was doing great and told her Holly is only trying to get her with the left. He should've told her, stop eating punches, move your head, and get in, tag her, get out. If you daze her, then get her to the ground for the armbar. Also looked like he tried to give her a kiss when she was on the ground and he was holding her. She needs new trainers, she should stop boxing and she needed this for her ego.

2015 MLB Offseason activity thread
Wouldn't make sense for the Sox. They need to trade what little they have outside of maybe Abreu to gain more players. Essentially do 1 for 2 or 1 for 3 type deals. I love Tehran and Freeman, but they would be the exact opposite of that.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 12:25 PM) It all depends on the team, but I still think we match up well against the top teams in the league. If I look at the Warriors, they are deep, but so are we. We are more physical in the interior and have better interior defense, they are more skilled on the outside and better shooters with the biggest differential being Curry >>>> Rose. That said, the Rose that has played vs. elite point guards has been pretty good and I still think we are going to see the best version of post-injury Rose this year and Butler is a good match-up against Thompson. I certainly wouldn't favor the Bulls but I wouldn't call it the biggest upset in NBA history either (plus, you never know what each teams health will be at that point...I'd hope that the eastern conference team that makes it to the championship game would have really only had one true test...i.e., Cleveland). I don't like the Bulls at all. I like them alot less with their current state. With that said, they should have cap space to sign a max FA, but chances are they won't. If they were smart though, they wouldn't bother wasting time with Durant and instead go after Hassan Whiteside. That means letting go of Pau, Noah and that's 100% fine with me. Whiteside Mirotic McDermott Butler Rose Draft Kris Dunn out of Providence in the draft and if Rose still hasn't figured it out, I'd let him walk.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 12:41 PM) Struggled? Not sure how winning 4-2 is a "struggle." Already this year they've beaten western playoffs teams by 20 (Rockets), 14 (Pelicans), Grizz (50!!!), Clips (4), and the Grizz again (16). Yes, it's early. Yes, they could still lose. But there's really no reason to think they've lost anything from last year and they seem to be even BETTER now. The reigning MVP also appears to be better. Not sure how they aren't the favorites. We can all keep saying "Lebron cuz Lebron" but statistically he's likely to get there and lose, not get there and win. Look at those games though. In a series from afar 4-2 doesn't look tough at all, but it's one game from going 7. Cleveland had no business winning two games, especially with Love and Irving out. They are definitely not better without those two. Not sure what people are smoking. I think SA, OKC and the Clippers will be a tough road if everyone is healthy. Doc does need to get his head out of his ass though. His in game adjustments are horrid. Also, what others fail to mention is Klay doesn't look nearly as good this year. Not even close. Once you get into the playoffs though, you will see teams make a concerted effort to chase them off the 3 point line and double Steph every step of the way.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) What about the rotation then? It'd be Rodon, EJ, Fulmer eventually, and who else? I wouldn't worry too much about that considering the Sox have a great track record of drafting and developing pitchers in recent history. Also could sign a couple of starters if you feel like.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) The Red Sox seem to be going "all in", so they're probably looking to acquire a frontline starter. What about a deal like Q for Swihart and Devers? Is that too little for Q or too much? If we could do that deal, then great. With how the Dodgers and Red Sox seem to be going for it, I'd honestly love to deal Q for Swihart and Devers, then Sale to the Dodgers for maybe Seager, Verdugo/Pederson, and Carl Crawford? C-Swihart 1B-Abreu 2B-Johnson 3B-Devers SS-Seager OF-Verdugo OF-Eaton OF-Thompson/Crawford??
