  1. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) For as much as I cursed at Damaso Marte this year... I will stand up and say I would still rather keep him over Mike Myers. I feel the same. I felt the same with him and Eyre as well. Marte will be a bargain if he shows any semblance of what he once was.
  2. I'd say TT still is the most talented player out of that trade, but the problem is he's not a "Skiles" type of player. Honestly there are no FA's who can help us at the 4/5. Nene is vastly overrated. He'll give you what Chandler gives you with maybe a little bit more offense.
  3. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) I get the feeling Ozzie is in touch with people around MLB a lot more than the average analyst or fan realizes. I think he knew that Loria was gonna hold a fire sale. That's why I think he was up front well before any action in saying he wants a new #2 hitter. If Loria is serious about fielding a team under $20M next year it won't cost us Cotts or even a starter to get Pierre. What Ozzie expects from Pierre is a guy who can hit leadoff when Pods can't & a guy willing to sacrifice his AB's to move Pods over. That role should allow Pierre to concentrate on his defense more. Pods, Pierre, Dye, Kong, Thome, Iguchi, AJP, Crede, Uribe = WOW! They want a team under 40 mil preferably, not 20.
  4. That sucks. May God rest his soul.
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) Substitute tortillas for bread because they travel better. Grab your backpack and a tent, sleeping bag, pad, Whisperlite camp stove and fuel, small fry pan, brick of cheddar, clarified butter. Hike to the top of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend. Unpack and fire up the whiperlite. Heat up water for your Ramen noodles, pour water into insulated mug and add SweetSue pouch chicken. Spread a little of the clarified butter onto tortilla and begin heating. Slice cheese onto tortilla. Butter second tortilla, and flip when bottom tortilla begins to brown. When second tortilla is brown and cheese has melted, remove from pan. Enjoy your grilled cheese while 6 miles from the closest road and enjoying a 100 mile view into Mexico. Deer will wander through your campsite, so keep a clean camp. Don't be alarmed that suddenly there are a billion more stars then you are use to seeing. Without any light for hundreds of miles, and no major sources of pollution, you can see so many more stars. While sitting back leaning against a bolder, add some water to the instant pudding you brought, mix thoroughly, add crumbled graham crackers and some marshmallows for a portable smore delight. While finishing up the smores, heat some water. After finishing your mug of smores, add hot water to the mug and a coffee single pouch. Swirl around and clean the sides of the mug making a cafe mocha. Use the remainder of the hot water to finish any cleaning your mug may need. Decide the weather is too nice to stay in a tent and drag your pad and sleeping bad outside and drift off to sleep under the coolest blanket of stars imaginable. That's no longer a grilled cheese. It's a quesadilla.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 06:39 AM) From the Miami Herald..... Damnit, I want Luis Castillo for the 2-hole, but we have Iguchi at 2B. Damn.
  7. I think what hurts the most for Heads is the fact that they lost to Kansas with their starting QB out. OUCH. If it makes you feel any better, UIC lost to St. Xavier(NIAA team) in basketball, at our home opener.

  9. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) I would love Milton Bradley for center field and the 2-hole but there's no way Kenny adds a bad clubhouse guy like him. Although we did sign Pierzynski and he was supposedly a clubhouse cancer. But in Bradley's case, it's most likely true. But he's rumored to be available for next to nothing. The Dodgers may even decide to non-tender Bradley if no team offers them anything for him. This lineup would be sick though: Podsednik LF Bradley CF Thome DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Iguchi 2B Pierzynski C Crede 3B Uribe SS I couldn't really hold it against Kenny for not being interested in Bradley though. He's got a lot of skill but he's still a headcase. I think what would kill any chance of Bradley coming here is accusing of a player being racist(Jeff Kent). I don't think KW wants to come anywhere close to that drama. No doubt the guy is talented though. If it was just a case of him not getting along with some of his teammates, I could see Kenny taking a flyer, but that's not the case. I know what we should do. Trade for Jose Guillen.
  10. QUOTE(timotime @ Nov 26, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) to quote the marx bothers, "you know what happens when you assume..you make an ass out of u and me." i think there isnt much chance of that happening at all. I'll eat crow if im wrong, but i see us sticking with anderson. let the flubs have pierre. He didn't say on the Southside. He said in Chicago. That could mean either place.
  11. Do we have that Griffeytalk.com banner still?
  12. What's the deadline for when the Sox and PK have to cut off discussions until May?
  13. I'll do this for the Marlin fans. Plus those at marlinsbaseball.com sent me an e-mail wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving.
  14. What some people also need to take into account is that maybe Kenny won't make another big move until the deadline. He loves having flexibility to make a move at the trade deadline so he could go for the jugular. I love the way that KW operates. Always have and always will.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Someone better find a way to get Aaron in Chicago on day 2 of the regular season next year. I'll get the van ready. We'll do it like the Italian Job.
  16. QUOTE(bulokis @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) That's what I thought about when I saw the press conference. Probably hard saying goodbye to the other stooges and the rest of the team. Poor Rowand, he really loves it here. Ah screw it. Let's trade for him back. Let's give up the farm.
  17. Neither. I'll just stick my hands in my pockets if they're too cold.
  18. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Was this them: http://www.pcgamingtech.net/images/lee.jpg I know it is rude to bother celebs, but I would have said something along the lines of "Look there is Scott Podsednik" and pointed over his shoulder to see his reaction. Put me in the Jim Thome fanclub.
  19. This is the one ESPN uses, and usually they all use the same pic:
  20. Jauron isn't a bad coach. He just won't turn an unbalanced team into a great one. As far as the Lions go, I think Bill Billichek would be hard pressed to turn them into any type of contender. That's how bad Millen is.
  21. I wouldn't mind picking up Patterson as a backup OF. He'd come cheap. It's been something I've thought about for a year. I think the Cubs did just mess him up with wanting him to go up and down in the order so much and never letting him get comfortable in one spot. Crede's old/new swing is short which is why he's a good hitter when he uses it. Before Sept, he used some modified swing that he picked up after his first year of getting to the majors. BTW, I don't know why people keep saying Pierre is a bad player. He's a pretty good player and is above average. Let's get some things straight: 1)He's not bad defensively. I don't know where this myth comes from. Is he as good as Anderson or Rowand? No, but in no way does he suck at defense. He's middle of the pack when it comes to the whole league. 2)He's a pretty good offensive player who had a bad year. I'd look at his trends, his age and what he can do. That shows me he would be a very good top of the order for years to go and that 2005 was an exception rather than the rule.
