QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) JC -- There are numerous signs flashing at you in blinding neon light, all of which read: RUN FAST. RUN FAR. Seriously, you sound like too nice a guy to get ensnared in all this psycho-drama. Nothing is worth that. She was likley nuts long before she met you, and will remain nuts long after you're gone from the picture. There's nothing you can do to change that, and therefore nothing assholic whatsoever about checking out immediately. Its completely the best thing for you to do. Yes, but if this is the first time he's been in this situation, then despite us telling him what he shouldn't do, he's going to do it anyway. It's very hard to resist such temptation. Honestly Joe, just hit it a few times, make her cook you eggs, and then bounce.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) What the f***? When I told her that, I didn't mean it literally. I told her I have no reason to conversate with her and I know she's just using me for attention that her bf is there for. I also told her, I didn't care for her situation anymore, to not bother contacting me, I wasn't interested in being her friend or having any relationship with her. She then kept sending me pictures of concerts she was going to which annoyed me. so that's when I told her what she should do. As far as the accident, it was a driving one apparently. Don't know much about it other than a semi was involved. My buddy was talking to her, even though I didn't want him to. It got to the point, where I didn't care as long as he didn't try to talk about her or with her around me. He didn't talk to her on a daily or weekly basis, just randomly. He found out a day after it happened on facebook and called me immediately and wanted to know if I wanted to pay my respects, but I didn't have any respect for her anymore. So I said it was better that I left that alone. My girlfriend was shocked, but that whole situation was tumultuous and unhealthy. She claimed all the things that Joe has claimed this girl has in his posts. Many were lies. She also had a huge tendency to talk about all of her friends very negatively, as well as her bf behind their backs. Like seriously, I would have no idea these people were her friends.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 03:09 PM) I agree with everything you guys are saying, I just hope I have enough will power to resist getting sucked in to her again. Wow bro, run! I've had similar episodes with that one girl I posted about. It'll get worse. $20 says she texts you about her offing herself so you can get worked up, give her a bunch of attention and in the end, you find out it was literally nothing but her wanting so much attention.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) Didn't Punk beat him clean on Raw a few weeks ago? Maybe. I haven't watched Raw for the most part in 2 months. Before that loss though, when was the last time he lost clean? Heck, when was the last time he lost the title clean? Or when was the last time he lost at a PPV clean?

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) If SuperCena is not taking time off to heal some lingering injuries or make another unwatchable movie, I can see Vince doing this...and messing up another opportunity for a good storyline. Yep. He botched that Nexxus storyline big time. I don't even remember the last time Cena lost clean. All I know, is that I'm going to be upset after watching the PPV. It's almost a guarantee.

Is there a scenario ...?
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 05:12 PM) Would that manager continue batting a terrible contact hitter 3rd and claim there's no room for a hot hitting minor leaguer on the current roster? Would that manager also continue to put his team in the worst position to succeed or the best?

Is there any way to dump Dunn and get Pujols?
No, but honestly, I think Dunn can bounce back. Just not in this atmosphere, with this coaching staff. I've given up all hope on them. Sadly, I've given up all hope that management will can all of them because they haven't done so yet. Especially Walker. We've seen this poo for the past 5 years, nothing has changed except for the players, but it still is not his fault.

Is there a scenario ...?
Honestly, the only thing I don't hate other than Coop is the players. If Coop is gone because the whole staff is, then it was a good ride Coop, but something must be done.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) A girl that can lie to her guy like that will lie again. She probably needs constant attention and has cheated before which is why her guy is jealous in the first place. I agree. I was with a girl who is as exactly as described and gave her my all. I always tried to make her happy. It was a mission for me. Same type of background and abuse. And I mean all of it matches up 100%. She broke up with her "abusive" bf, and started going out with me. Then she'd just use me up to talk to me because I could make her feel good, especially emotionally. She would always still find a reason to talk to her ex bf though. And the alarming thing that I should've saw was that she always remained friends with her ex bf's no matter what. In the end, she supposedly asked for money from the ex, went to his place to get it, then had relations and tried to claim it wasn't her fault and she wasn't in control. Now keep in mind, she never mentioned money problems, nor should she have had money problems considering she still lived with her parents and did not pay a bill. All she did was pay for her gas and insurance. I ended contact with her. This all happened when she said she needed a break as she wasn't ready for a relationship. After that, she would attempt to contact me and sometimes I would randomly reply. She found out where I lived which was waaaaaay far from her after she saw me come home at 11pm at night on a weeknight. She supposedly wanted to say hi, but didn't because her "ex-bf" was with her. She would always say I shouldn't be jealous of him as he was jealous of me because she was only happy with me. I'm like, "whatever" and asked her not to follow me home. I thought it was done with until she contacted me around my birthday. Mine and hers were a week apart from each other and she wanted me to take her out for her birthday and she would bake me a cake and take me out for mine. She stood me up, and then I told her to end herself. And that was the end. PS, she ended up in an accident that took her away about 3 months later. And no, I didn't have anything to do with it, nor did I even know until a friend of mine told me about it when it happened. As bad as it sounds, I couldn't care less. PPS, she would always make up some story about her being depressed, but wouldn't want me to do anything about it, she wanted to go to the woods in the middle of the night alone, cried about a miscarriage(that I believe she was lying about) and would basically drive anyone sane, batty. Long story short...RUN!

Beckham is a bust by the standards he was supposed to live up to. I don't know if it had to do with him switching positions, or what, but he's definitely a bust.

Basic Networking Questions
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 09:30 AM) Ah, ok...for the experience. I'll see what I can do to help then. Your hardware setup is fine. What you need to do is login to the Linksys, and configure a shared connection (where the Linksys acts as the gateway to the internet). Here you will configure a DHCP network for all of your internal machines, that way they will all be on the same subnet and be able to openly communicate with each other...however, you will still have to open the necessary security settings on the workstations/servers themselves. For example, all of your machines should have similar IP's on the same netblock: These numbers are all RFC1918 (fake internet addresses reserved for internal networks), and are just examples. You could statically assign these IP's, however, since you are already using an DHCP setup for this, you may as well just use DHCP reservations to auto-assign IP's to servers/printers which you always want to have the same IP. Server: 10.11.12.2 (Create a DHCP reservation for this machine, bound to it's MAC address, this way it always has the same IP) Workstation #1: 10.11.12.3 Workstation #2: 10.11.12.4 Printer: 10.11.12.10 (Create a DHCP reservation for this printer, same as above, so it's IP never changes) Gateway: (The Linksys) 10.11.12.1 (Usually, using .1 is standard practice for gateways in most organizations/companies) After you do this, you will need to check the firewall settings on the servers/workstations to make sure they can see each other, to start, you might want to just disable the software firewall on your machines, it's not needed anyway. Nothing from the outside world will be able to route into your machines until/unless you assign port mapping on the router, so it doesn't matter anyway. I recommend also assigning the DNS servers via the Linksys, too. Use Primary: 8.8.8.8 and Secondary 8.8.4.4 (These are Googles public DNS servers, I recommend them as they're always easy to remember the IP addresses of. After you bring up the network in this way, verify communications via a CMD prompt, and just type: ping x.x.x.x (where x.x.x.x is the IP of the various servers/workstations on the network), you should get icmp replies to this if they can see each other. After communication is verified, you can then begin "networking" by trying to share a folder (for example), on your file server, then, to access that shared folder, on any of the other workstations, go to start, run and type the following: \\x.x.x.x\ (where x.x.x.x is the IP address of your file server, it's also possible you can try to access it by name, it will send out a L2 request to see if anyone responds, for example ping inamedmyworkstationChester -- the workstation named that will probably reply with it's IP, etc.) As a default, you could also just trying accessing the shared drives Microsoft defaults onto everything (in their infinite wisdom), to do this you'd browse to the file server or workstation in question the same way as above but tag on c$ for the c drive, or d$ for the d drive. \\x.x.x.x\c$ or \\x.x.x.x\d$ This will probably request an administrator user/pass, but it default exists on every Windows computer, and basically gives you access to the entire filesystem. Oh, on the fileserver, you will need to make sure the server and workstation services are started -- to check this, click start/run, and type in services.msc -- if the server service isn't running, start it/set it to automatic, same with workstation, etc... Thanks for the help! I'm going to try this weekend.

Basic Networking Questions
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) I think I understand what it is you want to do, but the question is why do you want to do it? There was a time that a file/application server was a necessity out of lack of workstation processing power, but as it stands today, the only thing you'd really be doing is slowing yourself down if you want to go through the app server for everything you do. Accessing the Internet is as simple as just creating a wireless/wired network that assigns a range of DHCP ip's and shares a single access point (usually the router itself would have your ISP assigned IP address on it, and it would assign the range of DHCP addresses to whatever workstations/servers that connect to it), for your printers and whatnot you can reserve specific IP's from the DHCP table so they will always get the same IP, you do this via the MAC address of whatever system in question. For the file server, you'd merely create the necessary usernames/passwords, enable file sharing, and set the permission on the shared drives/directories. This would be another server you want a DHCP ip reserved for, so it always has the same IP address and when you want to use it, you know where it will always be. If you want browsing around your network to be truly easy, simply enable NetBIOS on every machine, it would simplify things a lot. If you do not want to use NetBIOS, because it's quite old now, you'd merely enable Computer Browser services on every machine on the network (if it's still called that), so they can see each other when you go into "my network", or "my network places" as I think it's called today. As for the "app server" part of the equation, it would be easier to just install the app on every machine and use it that way, versus sharing the applications through that server. I want to do it for experience mostly. So as I understand it, I can simply plug in my server into my router under one of the LAN ports of my router then follow your directions of assigning IPs for the certain tasks? Currently my setup is: Cable Modem --> Linksys WRT54G router --> Lan Port 1 = Server, Lan Port 2 = Workstation, and everything else wi-fi. When I attempted to install Server 2003 this past weekend, I was able to install it, but none of my other machines could read it, nor was I even able to connect to the internet with it at the very least to obtain updates.

Basic Networking Questions
I know a couple of people here are great IT people. What I want to do is simple. I want to setup Windows Server 2003 in my house to act as an application server and file server. I also want to be able to access the internet on all machines. I have an old laptop that I will be using that meets the requirements. I have a few basic questions. How would I connect it. I've searched high and low on the internet, and everywhere I go, I can't find an answer. Even an example. So can someone tell me how it would look in order to get the functionality I want. I have 2 laptops, a PS3, Xbox 360 which all will be wireless, and a desktop that will be hardwired. Again, I want the internet, to share files, to share applications and to share printers(though this I know how to do). I have experience with Active Directory and such. I'm using Server 2003 because it's free for me and my laptop does not meet the requirements for Server 2008.

Ozzie or Kenny?
I'd prefer to keep Kenny because he seems to have some sort of plan. Ozzie just goes with his heart and instincts, regardless of what numbers say. Think about it, people knew Dunn would strikeout a lot, but no one knew he would have this bad of overall numbers, especially homers. I mean, no one. Every liked the Peavy trade at the time. The Jackson trade is the only one where I can say, there was at least half the board that hated it.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) I still fancy Ellis. I'll take the pros over the cons. The Bulls don't. That kills that talk. As far as JR Smith vs Jason Richardson, I'd say Richardson is a better bet to be more consistent, but JR Smith provides elite scoring when he's on. He goes through hot and cold streaks big time. Richardson is more even keel. Smith will give you a 50 point game when feeling it and given the ball. But he'll come out with a 12 point game under the exact same circumstances the following game. Richardson will give you 18 one game, then 16 the next.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) I have game 4 recorded and on the last shot Rose took on LBJ, the right side of the floor was open and Boozer had his man sealed off...why Rose didn't try to take it to the rim is beyond me, LBJ is a heck of a defensive player but anyting but a jumper there is a better shot.Rose absolutly needed to attack LBJ there, hopefully he learns from that. Because the defense would've collapsed. Korver didn't have a good game that series. Boozer was throwing up weak stuff all series. Literally, everyone knew on Miami's side, Derrick was going to drive it and wasn't going to dish it. He wouldn't have had a lane to do so at all and Miami would've blocked that garbage. With the Iso jumper, he had a legit one on one shot, he simply missed.

Petition to immediately replace OG/KW with Omar or D.Martinez/Hahn
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) I feel this way, but I also wouldn't mind or care if both were sent packing. Well my whole stance is somewhat similar. To me, if the only way to get rid of Oz is by also letting go of Trader Ken, then he'll have to be the sacrificial lamb. Even though I love Kenny, this combo is not working. And you can see Ozzie no longer enjoys the day to day job anymore with the White Sox. You know KW is pissed at us underachieving. I'd like to see the whole staff go minus Don.
-
Daniel Hudson just bent KW over and violated him.
Even the opposing team said the trade worked for both teams. That's not good enough. SMH. You want to develop players, but fail to realize Beckham is a big fat bust. Morel is mediocre offensively and the last guy we ever developed in the field was Carlos Lee under a different hitting coach. The coaches are the problem. The GM got the team the horses to compete.

I don't know how the iCloud would work in a day and age of data caps. What if you want to watch a movie you uploaded to it, or listen to an album, only to find out you downloaded too much for the week and your ISP has throttled you. And if you use iCloud in conjunction with Netflix/Hulu/Online gaming, I could see yourself shattering your data cap. Or maybe, I'm wrong and I don't know how it works.

Honestly, I would like to see Kenny without Ozzie. I don't know what it would take though. They've severely underachieved since the World Series. We've switched over our roster enough times to where it can't be blamed on the roster any longer.

Well my son has a PS3 I bought him for his birthday so I'll get LBP and Wipeout for him since he can't play big people games. On my PS3, I'll download Infamous and anything that's not LBP because I disliked that game immensely.

Technology catch-all thread
Yeah, usually when that happens, wires nees to be replaced with RG6 I think it is and new connectors should be put in. Used to happen to my living room tv all the time because the connectors were bad and the second Comcast guy who came in to finish the job ended up beding the cable right at the tip and was snapped off basically. Sometimes it would work fuzzy, but most of the time, it just cut off. Made digital tv worse than analog. The good thing is, we would end up getting all our channels screwed up and we wouldn't get the most basic channels like NBC, ABC, and CBS. BUTTTTTT, in their places we have Showtime on CBS2, HBO on NBC5, Encore on Telemundo, and Starz on Univision. I felt like Joey and Chandler in that episode of friends when they got free subscription tv and didn't want to cancel or walkaway because they didn't know when it was going to end. And it never did until I cancelled Comcast to go with Wow.
