  1. This is old but https://www.google.com/amp/s/jaysjournal.co...t-contract/amp/ I can’t believe Lawrie never found a team. I wonder if he’ll go to Japan or Korea.
  2. Good perspective here: Lewis (America): How many of these guys could conceivably be a No. 1 overall in some years? I get the sense that anyone from 1-4 could be. Do Tatis, Robles, and Senzel have No. 1 overall tools? J.J. Cooper: Great question. I’d prefer Eloy (No. 4) to Benintendi (No. 1) on last year’s list. Robles (No. 5) vs. Benitendi would be a great debate. So I’d say five. Torres (No. 6) or Senzel (No. 7) or even Bichette (No. 8) could have a case, but I would say any of those three being No. 1 would mean it was a weaker year for the Top 100. 3. QUOTE (pablo @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 03:55 PM) Well then I guess the Brewer's "insider" is somewhat validated? Even if it doesn't include the Sox as a trade partner, I'm glad Brew Crew are actively trying to get better rather than take the slow route to rebuilding when you have a competitive team in place already. Same, and they also had a very interesting rebuild that used a lot of avenues to build up talent via traditional and non-traditional means.
  4. I don't have any nice things to say about Jason Kidd and am glad he's no longer a coach.
  5. I wouldn't cry at all about that but...are the bulls the org to make him healthier?
  6. I am not making a statement on you making up anything, but this is not a trade rumor. It's something that impacts a person's reputation and without it being reported, they may never have a chance to respond. The details being slightly off could be insignificant, or quite significant.
  7. If Law thought he'd be a late first round pick in 2017, and nobody has seen anything to the contrary since (i mean literally nothing to change minds), then I don't think he'd be in his top 100.
  8. I'm going to guess 3 white sox. Eloy, Kopech, Hansen.
  9. Okay, first off, no more personal attacks. These are pretty serious and sensitive rumors, please tread carefully and please acknowledge the second/thirdhand aspect of these rumors.
  10. When I heard the prospect people talk about collins, the good news is he's the only catcher aside from Mejia scouts really see with a nice offensive profile. The bad news is almost none of them really picture him at catcher, so all of the others with meh profiles but proper defense are ahead of him. So he just has to be a catcher.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 10:33 AM) I think I was the high man on Sosa. I had him in the back of the 20's. 17 years old and can likely remain at SS. In 180 PA, he slashed .270/.330/.358. Not great by any stretch but he went basically right to rookie ball. It has been said that he'll be on Baseball America's top 30 Yeah I've been high on him just because his stats compared to our other recent 17 year olds in AZL. Also as a 17 year old a 7.5 BB rate and only a 13% k rate. Exciting stuff to build upon.
  12. Interesting, some stronger players in that list than I thought. One note: in McLure's write-up you have mentioned him with the 2016 draft and not 2017. The Laz Rivera stuff is interesting, and that there is still so little on Sosa despite being in AZL (to me that means bad things for my own excitement). I'm not sure I can picture the backend now. I expected Mendick, Yurchak and Sosa to make top 30 and I can't really picture who replaces them.
  13. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 09:55 AM) You can't really single him out. All reporters should wait then. Uh, no. If his tweet was "Brewers near trade finalizing with Yankees to acquire a SP", that's enough for me. But the "Brewers nearing a trade" Zero scope. No return teams. Literally everyone just thinking they are a part of a massive 30 team deal. At least get the two teams and some idea.
  14. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 09:51 AM) Hindsight is 20/20 but it’s not like we didn’t see this one coming. We gave up 3 productive ML’er (one of which had immense trade value) for a guy who was hyped as a Top 30 guy at that point. Some 200 ABs later he fell completely out of Top 100. Not saying he won’t bounce back inside T100 going forward, but I think it will be hard for him to sniff the top 30-40 status again. Return seemed light then, but even more so now. Yeah, it is funny to see both Fowler and Mateo still in back end top 100.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 09:47 AM) Meaning you don’t think they’re realistic? He broke the Soria trade in the same manner. I think he should just wait until he has the actual teams and players.
  16. Closing this thread for a moment.. This topic can be sensitive and we want to discuss how to proceed.
  17. Upon looking up Adells stats I take back my assessment that they are overshooting, that's a nice debut with good k rate from someone people questioned their performance vs top competition.
  18. I've been consistent so I'll say it again: Not a fan of these tweets from crasnick.
  19. whoa they gave vlad jr an 80 hit tool and 70 power (Eloy was 60 hit 70 power)
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 09:11 AM) I guess I thought Collins might slip in near the end. I was pretty confident Dunning would make it based on their write-up. I’ll say this much, this list is making me think the talent accumulation phase of the rebuild is far from over. I’m sure guys like Burger, Collins, Rutherford, Cease, & maybe even Sheets all fall somewhere in the 101 to 150 range, but it makes me sick to my stomach seeing how many top prospects good teams like the Yankees & Astros still have or just recently gave up. We definitely need to acquire more depth between now and the trade deadline. And to me that goes back to intl fa again. They have a system that has a lot more 16-17-18 year olds that can grow into top 100 prospects, and do. Our system I really like and am positive on but right now it's a ton of 22-25 year old guys that hopefully crash in all at once, at all levels.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 08:52 AM) How many players on these lists are ranked that were drafted after Collins and Burger? I haven't really looked. Just curious. Well two quick ones are Whitley and Faedo. FWIW Faedo is one of their only 2017 draft holdovers that I think deserves the high ranking based on his performance. They always have players like Adell ranked super high and it ends up being premature.
  22. I don’t know. Part of me is annoyed thinking we have to start drafting better (3 straight drafts in top 11 have netted us exactly one top 100 prospect), but some of this list you have guys that I’ve heard extremely negative things about. Ultimately Sox just need to be more right about burger and Collins than the prospect guys. But I don’t know, it eats at you seeing the slight things they could have done differently to come out ahead.
  23. Seriously asking, what was the best (highest ranked) prospect sent along in a salary dump in a recent time frame like last 10 years. Because I think it’s toussant. It hasn’t seemed like a top 100 guy has been moved.
  24. Highly doubt they would need to trade Brinson just to dump salary. Whatever our part in this I’m going to guess it’s a lot less sexy and minor. And FWIW is take a flyer on Broxton. His 2016 was good. Rather give his power a try then whatever Tilson would be.
  25. I’m with team OP. It annoys the crap out of me when people use the phrase “going to play in the pinstripes” talking about the Yankees and Cubs. Nobody associates the Sox with it, but Sox were known for pushing forward with uniforms. I associate the black jerseys with those ‘94 era teams, let’s give this next group their own look.
