  1. We actually have no idea the extent to the role LF has played in everything the last many seasons. I do think the TV show is setting up Arya to kill LF when she hears from Bran something bad he did.

We have a lot of guys in the minors who are not top prospects who are busting their ass as they watch players like Delmonico, Davidson, and Engel getting major shots at sticking as Major Leaguers. Performing this gimmick is just a slap in the face to those guys. Now, by all means, hire tebow to throw tshirts into the stands or heres an idea Tebow starts halfway down third base line. Random fan gets to put on catching gear and see if they can hold onto the ball as tebow runs through them and tries to be safe at home.
  3. Gotcha, thanks all. I was confused to why if it was TRUE it was a lannister blade he would blame the lannisters but you answered all of it.
  4. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) IIRC, Littlefinger lost the dagger in a bet with Robert. Joffrey stole the dagger from Robert to give to the cut throat to "put Bran out of his misery." Why did he tell Bran he didn't know where the dagger came from then? Unless I'm misremembering that line.
  5. Next year the big win with Kopech is him being healthy and getting to at least 160 innings. Pushing him to big leagues would make me lose considerable confidence in our player development.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 1, 2017 -> 09:18 AM) While hosting the Olympics usually sucks, it makes so much more sense for a city like LA to do it, just because so much of the stuff is already built. And I hope they REFUSE to build something to spec when a reasonable alternative already exists.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 11:03 AM) Yes, NOW it is too late. But if he had taken a traditional trip through the minors it might have looked like this... Drafted 2014, signed late. Goes to rookie ball for some short starts and relief appearances as is traditional for starters the Sox don't want to rush to limit IP. 2015, start off in Low A, eventually move to High A after the ASG. 2016 run through AA, maybe a late move up to AAA. 2017 start at AAA, called up around trading deadline to replace a traded pitcher. That seems very slow. I think we would have had issues being that conservative as he watched someone like Nola in the big leagues for 2 years. We'll see the track someone like Kyle Wright takes.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 09:28 AM) No matter the odds, I'll still take the field vs. the Dodgers for World Series champion They have effectively hacked the regular season, throwing enormous amounts of depth to overcome any slow starts and injuries. But we'll see what happens in post-season, when it's the best players against all.
  9. There have been many-a highly touted QBs who the league has thought could teach them accuracy, so I'm glad it's showed in pads. I bring it up because his first few days had a lot of nfl media "LOL he has trouble with snaps" contrasted to "Watson is the greatest QB ever", it has since flipped to now people discussing Trubisky on rise and may start sooner than people think, while the texans camp is about savage playing better and likely to be a starter.
  10. Rodon's 2015 callup was clearly too early. He would have benefited from being allowed to focus on his changeup and fastball command without worrying about Major League results. But would be crazy to see him down again in 2016.
  11. So, just so I'm clear. There was a bit of interplay between the "previously" and the episode where it showed Baelish telling Cat Stark the dagger belonged to Tyrion Lannister, but then in the show Baelish telling Bran he didn't know who the dagger belonged to. Obviously, Bran (the most charismatic character in the world) would know now. So, is that accurate? We haven't known how involved littlefinger was in promoting the war of the 5 kings, so maybe we find out in the coming weeks. Littlefinger is getting pushed out to margins right now, they do not appear to be setting him up for redemption.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) By essentially telling him he isn't good enough for the majors. The Braves and the Cubs were capable of doing it with players more touted and successful in their major league careers than Anderson, but the White Sox it's apparently another tool in the chest that the white sox can't handle. The White Sox have shown they believe in him with a contract. I don't believe the White Sox or Tim Anderson are different, and Tim also does own a home in North Carolina.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) For a guy that is already struggling with self-confidence, I don't know that sending him down sends the right message. All though I would like to mention that there might be signs of life since the Stroman incident. In August Anderson is on a 5 game hitting streak, with two of them as multi-hit games. 7-22 with a double, triple, and a homer during that stretch and 3 RBI. One way to build confidence is to give him success again at a lower level and away from reporters asking him about his struggles every night.
  14. I think it would be good for him, not punish him.
  15. I'm beating a dead horse, but considering we already paid Tim a contract showing how much the org is behind him, I just don't see how sending him down for some time is this huge no-no. Especially with Dansby Swanson down in AAA.
  16. Also I like Davidson, really glad he got to find himself back. But I don't see him as a major league starter unless he can get his OBP up to at least .330, and that will be hard without how little he makes contact. So, as cool as it was that Davidson didn't go the way of Jacob May, he's not such an interesting example of failed prospect becoming valuable piece. He still has a chance though.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) Trump criticizing Blumenthal for his Vietnam service isn't really recommended He's trying to find another Clinton but the sequel isn't near as good.
  18. It's funny. I was thinking about how I did this as a post in 2015 as we started going for it. Everyone said "it's a stupid exercise, it won't happen like you think" (and they were right) but it was when I did the exercise that I realized how narrow the sox's chances were to build a sustained winner. In 2015 we were signing guys to shorter deals with idea that our new drafting and farm could build up and come up in 2018. And then I did it and realized we had like 3 guys that had strong chances of being MLB regulars and like 10 guys we had to hope to catch lightning in a bottle. Like for that to work we were devastated by Trey M failing. We could handle Burger (or Collins) busting without destroying rebuild. That's exciting. We do need a pitcher to have an outsized impact though.
  19. My point with Delmonico wasn't really that he should be higher, but that the rational for not including him in the list is basically the same as why Gillaspie should be lower. He basically has to have power show big and soon for him to be interesting. Because we have a nice contact, modest power .760 OPS DH in delmonico who we don't value that much already.
  20. Pleasant Trubisky evals recently
  21. Just FYI when board is down typically there will be updates in the Facebook group.
  22. Or you know, he just put 5 good games together because he's a professional baseball player.
  23. I think we'll be better next year but our bullpen may be just as bad so I don't know if our record would show it.
  24. Not a good Guerrero start
  25. Lol if Tyler Danish is called up.
