  1. Insane how athletic he is to change deliveries like this and be consistent with it. I hope he shoves and Sox decline QO just in case.
  2. would love to hear someone argue that Leury's contract doesn't matter.
  3. bmags posted a topic in FutureSox Board
Not a surprise since mid season but Colson at 39, Colas at 89. https://www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/2023-top-100-prospects/ BA has done a pretty good job adjusting to the realities of pitchers, but still I feel like if someone offered me straight up Elly De La Cruz for Matthew Painter I'd take De La Cruz. I knew Jack Leiter struggled last year but didn't realize how much he'd fallen to not even be a top 100 guy and was ranked 7th in Texas system? Crazy.
  4. I think if he fails we'll look back on it. But I read it as a guy who was eager to prove he could be in the bigs by beating up on some A ball pitcher, while sox lower level instructors were trying to impress on him that what will prove he can get there is showing he can handle the major league routine. And that it was hard for him to see the value in that (vs game reps) when he was able to do things so easily. So, yeah, he's probably gonna strike out 40 % of the time then we'll see whether he's capable of adjusting.
  5. I like Marisnick but he just missed 4/5ths of the year with injuries...is that protection against injury?
  6. I read the review of this and it sounds like he legit wrote a book just about how much he hates the astros.
  7. unfortunately cesar hernandez you are out based on name association. edit: jeremy pena you are very much in.
  8. The server couldn't handle the amount of mock drafts I was posting to the nfl thread.
  9. so dane brugler had his mock go out today. Had bears trade 1st overall to Colts for 4th overall, their 2023 second (where they selected BJ Olujari), and a 2024 first. on a PFF podcast yesterday, they indicated just a 2024 first to Bears for 4th overall. In both cases, they took Jalen Carter.
  10. It is amazing. It's why it's hard to figure out what to think of the current grade of our scouting/intl/pd. It actually does feel different, and hopefully that leads to much more success. I think 2018, as Robert was about to clearly blow thru the system, it was rare to get any of our international classes into A+. If you look at like our 2013/2014/15 classes (we'll just uh, ignore that one guy), they were bad in DSL and then awful in Arizona. You'd be pumped about Amado Nunez and then he'd struggle to put up a .500 OPS. Adolfo we kept hoping on and he would barely play for 4 years. Hey this franklin reyes guy sounds awesome whoa 440 ops. Such was life. I feel like that's why Lenyn stuck out like he did. We hadn't seen anyone just hang in there as a younger prospect. The outlier was Carlos Perez ho-hum climbing up the system.
  11. I don't think that's WIlder anymore. I think sox have convinced themselves its a fools game. To some extent, houston has played that game too, but more effectively likely due to superior PD. They have found some gems in that 18+ intl market that fell thru the cracks.
  12. If you went with one heuristic to judge a bunch of 16 year olds playing baseball, probably their bloodlines would be tops. Despite that, I do get nervous paddy is graduating to a stage of just rewarding friends and former players kids that aren't at the echelon of bidding wars. Feels like he runs things a lot like ken williams. Likes being hands on in the scouting, but maybe runs a smaller network because of it (like how we clearly don't even bother with Asia). He's a great talent scout so we end up with some huge hits, but smaller volume, and the lack of delegation is maybe why we are so often left with smaller classes? Just some theories on why things look like this.
  13. didn't know this happened, very pleased. Not sure he's even lost anythign defensively, looks like it's just less opportunities since his heyday. Downside of Engel was always his arm. Not my biggest care (would prefer they get to the ball), but considering the scenarios at end of games, you don't want players to get so easily from 1st to third. or taking second on stupid throws.
  14. Not sure yet, have not heard any real changes have been made. May still be at the mercy of whatever is going on.
  15. Everyone’s hoping the large amount of Cubans that just migrated can sign in this class and we can get them.
  16. Yeah I don’t have anything to share, unfortunately only a few know how to work the servers. Hopefully we’ll get some news, but let’s just give thanks to our beautiful currently working site. It may be sensitive to criticism.
  17. Was a mildly intriguing storyline but Stroud just declared
  18. Ben Hansen who left the Sox for an sports biometrics group at Intel, looks to have moved to Mets to be director of performance technology. He was an interesting guy, hope this new hire can continue to keep up our investment in technology in player dev.
  19. I don’t know quite how describe the feeling of being annually disappointed by how the Sox handle intl strategically while still being kinda impressed by its production.
  20. Ah signing day, when 29 mlb organizations try their hardest to get a little better than their competitors.
  21. Pretty sure he’s talking about Rodon
  22. And what are the teams telling us about Gary Sanchez
