QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 13, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) The pitching will not be better than 05. They just won't. I wrote as good if not better. They just will.

Historicaly I tend to be pretty pessimistic when it comes to the White Sox, but I feel pretty good about this team. I'm sure most people on this board and especially in this thread will consider me a fool but I believe young players can improve. Dyan Viciedo has the ability to turn into a top flight hitter. Rios can repeat what he did last year. Konerko with his wrist repaired can still be a very impactful power hitter, etc etc. Our pitching staff has the potential to be as good if not better than the 05 staff. I think the defense will be excellent, and I have great faith in Ventura and his staff based on last year. I'm looking forward to this season and I think we will contend.

Baseball to require tougher drug tests
Tannerfan replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) Baseball is stepping into the forefront of drug testing? Did Bud Selig get kidnapped? The problem was never Bud Selig. The problem was The Players' Association. -
I really hope the bashing Wise stuff stops now. This guy is a good fourth outfielder.

After the Sox win today, I turned on the Rangers radio broadcast to hear the last three innings of the Tigers Rangers game. I was surprised when the Rangers radio guy said that Cabrera and Fielder have both started every game this season. This guy mentioned that when Leyland (aka Smokey) was asked about this he said in his gruff way: "They get their rest when they DH." Cabrera, according to the Rangers radio guy has DH'd five times and Fielder only once. I know they are both fairly young, but you have to wonder or at least hope that they'll falter down the stretch due to a lack of rest. This is one of the criticisms of Leyland by Tiger fans. He burns out his players.

I'm just scared we'd give up to much to get him. If the price is Viciedo I say no way.

Time to forget the "Pick to Click" and just call it "Youk to Click".

Shouldn't that Sports Illustrated writer who predicted The White Sox would lose 95 games, have to appear before the next game and beg our forgiveness? If there was justice in the pundit biz this is what would happen.

One less guy on the roster who wears his pants up to his knees. That's all I can think of.

Best off day topic ever.

I will be there! Can't wait to see the two skinny boys battle it out.

Twins now up 5-2 in the 7th.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) He played catcher too, you know. So did Carlos Delgado. Maybe we could platoon those two at catcher after this season? I like it! Konerko finishes his career as a DH/back up catcher.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) No. But I like outside-the-box thinking, so keep it up! FWIW I wasn't suggesting that Paulie move to third base to solve our third base problem. I just thought it might be worth the gamble in a Natinal League park. I really don't think playing him at third could be much worse than Dunn in left. Especially since Viciedo is hitting now.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) Hey I said it was radical.

In the Los Angeles Times today in the Angels FYI column, it's reported that Albert Pujols will play third base in their upcoming inter league games. Angels manager Mike Scioscia points out that this will allow the Angels to keep their 3 and 4 hitters in place with Kendry Morales who has been the DH playing first base hence the move of Pujols to third. In the story Pujols is quoted as saying "You have more time than you think. It's not like playing shortstop or second. The ball gets to you quick, you catch the ball, you throw it. That's it." Obviously you see where I'm going with this. Move Konerko to third, and have Dunn play first in National League parks this year. I think Paulie is vastly underrated as a fielder, and reacts very quickly to balls hit his way. Also I believe he was a third baseman in the Dodgers organization. Could he play there as well as Orlando Hudson? I'd love to find out.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 31, 2012 -> 03:26 PM) He was talking about his running speed, not bat speed I wasn't comparing the two players and saying they had the same deficiencies. I was pointing out that Crede like Beckham now, got criticized quite a bit as a developing player.
-
I remember threads back in '05 where the consensious was Joe Crede while great defensively, would never be a decent third baseman because he couldn't hit. Crede invented the infield pop up, he was so slow if a man was on first it was a guaranteed double play. Things like that. Really the same type of criticism Beckham gets now. We tend to be cynical about some of our players when there here, then love them once they're gone.

Wow six runs in one inning!!! I've read stories about how this sort of thing can happen.

4/18/12 Game Thread - O's @ White Sox
Tannerfan replied to hogan873's topic in 2012 Season in Review
I am a card carrying atheist, and I just bowed my head as I have witnessed a miracle. -
I'm very pleased with this series. I like that they fought to the end, and only gave up eight runs for the three games. I like my White Sox.

My picture has a crazy studder to it. anyone else having this problem?

We really do have a good wild pitch offense!

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) I hope 0%. Viciedo still needs regular ABs. This season should be spent developing the young guys if they're struggling. Fukudome won't be enough to put us in the playoffs. Also Fukudome is going to have to start for Rios.

Is anybody listening to the San Diego radio play by play guy? He sounds a little nuts.
