  1. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) It was a recent change. In the past the loser of the Div Champ game went home. I didn't say I didn't believe it. I said a better source was needed to verify it. I found that source & now I agree. Anyways what matters to the CWS now is ALHF adv. CWS & BOS can both finish with 96 wins or CWS & NYY can both finish with 97 wins. So what decides ALHF? We win 1 then we clinch throughout or as long as there isn't a sweep either way in the Boston/NYY series we also clinch it.
  2. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) http://sports.ign.com/articles/451/451166p1.html This is the best source I could find. CWS 96-66, CLE 96-66, BOS 96-66, NYY 94-67 Scenario #1: Tie for Div Champ & win % > win % of either 2nd place team (NYY, OAK) then the Div Champ is decided by past performance (H2H, etc.). This is the scenario by which the CWS clinched the ALC. CWS 97-65, CLE 95-67, BOS 95-67, NYY 95-67 Scenario #5 Tie for Div Champ & win % = win % of either 2nd place team (CLE, OAK) then 2 game playoff: Div Champ game, WC Champ game. CWS 96-66, CLE 96-66, NYY 96-66 Juggs, why don't you ever believe people on this site when we tell you something?? If boston wins 2 of 3 and cleveland wins 2 of 3, NY and Boston play on Monday for the east, the loser plays Cleveland on tuesday for the wildcard, the end.
  3. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 11:41 AM) I would MUCH rather play EITHER NYY or BOS then ANA right now. ANA is going to be well rested, and I can also say that Texas can't beat ANA out of a wet paper sack. Texas has been ANA's b**** all year. Kap, I understand what you're saying but I maintain I don't care who the sox play plus there is no way I could ever root for them to lose a series.
  4. QUOTE(hi8is @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) I SAY KICK THE f***ING s*** OUT OF THEM IN ALL 3 GAMES! YES! ^^^^^^^^^^^
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) "You dont win 96 games on accident. You don't win 96 games by luck. You win 96 games, because, damnit, you're good!"---Hawk Ya, I'm not sure why I posted this in the posts of the months thread, I had it in my mind that it was quotes of the month.
  6. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 10:47 AM) NYY have been nearly as hot as CLE the past two months. If BOS & CLE go 2-1 this weekend then NYY win the ALE & BOS & CLE play for the WC. CLE will NOT have a better record than either NYY or BOS so H2H will decide the ALE. NYY will have a 10-9 adv in that scenario. If BOS beats CLE we would play BOS in the opening round. If CLE beats BOS we would play either NYY or LAA (I think it will be LAA). LAA needs to sweep the Rangers in Texas to reach 95 wins. I think that's doubtful. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/standings/grid BOS vCWS 4-3, vCLE 4-2, vLAA 6-4, vNYY 7-9 LAA vCWS 6-4, vCLE 5-3, vNYY 6-4 NYY vCWS 3-3, vCLE 4-3 No, that's incorrect. If Boston and Cleveland go 2 and 1 then the yanks and bosox play for the al east title on monday, after that the loser would play the Indians for the wildcard on Tuesday.
  7. Great post smalls, I'm sure he's loving this. It's amazing how sports can bring families together and it's funny for me reading all of your guys stories how your dad got you hooked on the sox. For me it's the exact opposite, my dad was never really a baseball fan but since I've become a die hard all the sudden more and more each year he's becoming a big fan, he's even going to a playoff game with me this year, I got him hooked.
  8. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Colon's stats aren't that great with the exception of wins. In fact he hasn't even had a great 2nd half. He has gotten a ton of run support. His ERA is 3.48 which is high for a guy contending for the Cy Young. In fact a lot of Buehrle's stats are better. I think this next start for Buehrle will decide the outcome of this thing. This race is still up for grabs. It'll be Bartolo or Rivera.
  9. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) I'll take the extra arm that has loads of playoff experience over another useless bat off the bench. Even if El Duque doesn't pitch in the playoffs, his experience and leadership could prove far more valuable than a Blum strikeout. So the extra arm means no Blum or Gload. Meaning if we need a pinch runner for Pauly in a late game situation it can't happen.

  11. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Found the NY tiebreaker... Kickin our divisions ass pays off again.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) 4) June 15 against the Diamondbacks. The Sox are down 6-1 in the 6th then go on to explode for a season high 10 runs that same inning to avoid a sweep and beat the D-backs 12-6. More importantly, the birth of the rally mojo.
  13. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) Rowand, you want a Hot Carl? :headshake I hope you get banned for that.
  14. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) Sox are still playing for home field ad all the way through... They also owe it to the NYY, BOS, CLE and MLB NOT to tank their lineup THAT BAD!!! 2-3 subs a game, not all of em...Plus Paulie is looking for RBI 100 so he needs to be in the lineup too... Id keep Paulie in, Everett, Rowand and Pods for sure, make sure the hot ones stay hot and the guys struggling pick it up!!! Let AJ rest for sure!!! I want Carl to be in the lineup everyday.
  15. QUOTE(bulokis @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 11:45 PM) where did you get that Sox' group pix for your avatar? Look at the pictures thread a few threads down bul, it's in there.
  16. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) since this still ahs the Twins name on it.. lol Mike Sweeney absolutly OWNED the Twins this year 24 hits in 49 at bats .490 average Well now you know how we feel every single year.
  17. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) I need this explained to me: If the BoSawx and Cleveland both take two out of three this weekend-we have a three way tie. How do the logisitics of time workout? Is it division game on Monday, Wildcard on Tuesday? What does this do to the Tuesday scheduled games? Would we be bumped back to Wednesday evening then? Its sounds like a 3-way tie thrwos a monkeywrench into the schedule unlike a one game playoff on Monday Everything you said is correct.
  18. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) This last one is my favorite. My new wallpaper. EDIT: Well it was until I saw goldy's masterpiece
  19. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) I think one of my top plays was in Minny when Jenks threw three straight hooks for strikes to Lew Ford to K him looking to end the game. Phenomenal. My favorite Jenks moment was the at bat vs. Vlad. Vlad had 0 chance.
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Can you essplain? There's a possibility that we still might have to have a one game playoff with Cleveland? Sorry if my post was unclear, I meant for the yanks and bosox to have a playoff for the east we'd have to lose our series.
  21. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) monday will be the day i do an entire week's worth of work, because i will be missing many, many classes next week I'm missing more.
  22. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) I just hope the Sox don't get screwed like last time they were in the playoffs by having 11am start time during the week. That sucked last time. We have the best record in the AL, we should get the choic game times. f*** the Yank-mes or those OTHER sox. We'll get the 1 central or primetime start. EDIT: Actually I was basing that 1 central start on the fact that we played a west coast team but yeah same thing in 2000 so nevermind.
  23. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) I wish I could add an option that said "Death." What about the drays?? I think they deserve it.
  24. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) Earlier ESPN was saying... 1 win OR a Red Sox AND a Yankees loss sealed homefield throughout Ok, so that means we do hold the tie breaker over the yankees. Thanks for the info greasy.
