  1. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) It would be a very, very risky move. The move would of course open a spot for Anderson, but I don't like the idea. Cerb, if Dye can prove that he's capable of playing first is it really that risky?? I mean you'd have Dye and Ross who have already proven that they're very good hitters at the major league level, then you have Anderson and Rogo who can possibly be ready to play next year. Maybe Anderson starts the year as the everday rf'er and if he struggles then Jermaine moves back there and Ross can play 1st. There's a ton of options for this spot, personally I want to see it come in house and save the money and improve in other areas.
  2. QUOTE(IndplsSoxFan @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) From southsidesox.com: "...This is a move that I've quietly asked for. That's not to say that I want Dye out there right now, but I brought it up in another forum that I would send Jermaine to play winter ball somewhere, playing exclusively first base. One of Paul Konerko and Frank Thomas is probably going to be gone next season, and after last night's heroics who can argue to keep Pauly over Frank? At first base next year the options are Konerko, Gload, and Casey Rogowski. We know what Gload can do, but that he's still in Charlotte, and Dye is getting the start at 1B tells me a lot. Rogowski is a nice prospect, but I don't think he's ever going to be an offensive powerhouse you'd like to have at 1B. Plus, I thik he's more than a year off. I also think Anderson will struggle in the first half next season. So... A platoon of Dye-Gload-Anderson in 1B/RF would be a decent option. All of this assumes Jermaine can be an adequate defensive 1B. The last time he played 1B was 1998 in AAA. Let's hope he at least has a first basemen's mitt." Interesting thought. A lot of us around here have thought about this. Jermaine sure did look pretty darn good at first tonight. If he can hold it down I'd love it, Anderson in right, Jermaine at first, Frank still here, Ross and Rogo could also get some time at first. Then you just got Pauly and his money off the books to maybe go after another starting pitcher, don't think there is going to be much to improve in the pen. Got Hermy, Cliff(option), Neal, Damaso, Jenks and Viz(we'll see what happens with him) all locked up for next year.
  3. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) A devil ray is a fish too..........and a rather ugly one at that. http://www.gma.org/fogm/Manta_birostris.htm Yes I know but look at the first line you wrote, it says eat s*** Marlins.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) Hey I totally agree with you. Was just speaking in response to what the other poster was saying in regards to some potential strategy in the callup. I think Jenks has the ability to be one of the 3 best relievers in all of baseball, if not the very best. Of course potential doesn't mean sure thing. Still the Sox haven't had a kid with this type of stuff in forever. This could really turn out to be Kenny Williams best move he's ever made and as we've know he's made some damn good ones. You just don't pick up a guy with this kind of stuff for nothing. Unreal.
  5. We did play the drays nuke not the Marlins Wow, great f'n day.
  6. Congrats Bobby. Obviously a little wound up and nervous to start overthrowing his fastball a little bit. Settles down and looks awesome. Think that guy has an impressive arm?? Wow.
  7. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) Realistically they could pick up everett's option, let go of konerko, and put move dye to first as you suggested. Yup, that sure was him :rolly
  8. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) Yep. Jermaine is definitely athletic enough to make the transistion from RF to 1B. You know, for next year... I said at the beginning of the game I love this lineup from an offensive stand point. I just love having Frank, Carl and Jermaine all out there in the same lineup without Pauly.
  9. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) ...literally, my house is shaking. Hopefully Ozzie will use Jenks tonight, it's the perfect situation.
  10. Great job Mike.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Contreras should go one more inning and let the bullpen finish this out. They will have all day tomorrow to rest. Jenks
  12. Just put Tad on 1st and Scotty on 3rd and Frank will just hit a ball about 1000 feet. Unreal.
  13. Gooch does what he does best, pokes a shot into rf and somehow scotty goes from 1st to 3rd on that.
  14. Hawk just said thanks to soxtalk
  15. More then 0 less then a billion.
  16. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) I wasn't wrong but o.k. I know what the trade did for the team aka bringing in other players. You cannot even compare the two players lee and podsednik. You can't compare the players because they're different type of players but if you don't think Scotty's been as valuable to the sox as carlos has been for Milwaukee your nuts.
  17. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) Like the one guy said at the yankees forum... Vorp from this season. Jeter 36.5. Podsednik 9.3. Ahh good ol' vorp. Podsednik deserves to be in, he's been probably the best leadoff hitter in baseball, vorp won't tell you what he's done for this team when he's been on base. You just don't like him because you won't admit you were wrong about the trade. Sorry Scotty's in, deal with it.
  18. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) Steve Phillips on ESPN was shocked that Scotty made it and said Jeter would ALWAYS make his all-star team!! Well we all know how good Steve Phillips was at putting together teams.
  19. Great f***in job everyone and of course congrats Scotty, you deserve it.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxjr27 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) maybe he will calm down a bit and pitch a good game. He'll be good today.
  21. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) Ozzie's crazy ass Game 3 lineup: Pods LF Gooch 2B Hurt DH Everett RF Rowand CF Dye 1B AJ C Ozuna 3B Uribe SS Okay, it's not that crazy. DRays: Crawford LF Lugo SS Huff DH Cantu 3B Lee 1B Hollins RF Green 2B Hall C Gathright CF Back to voting..... From an offensive stand point, I love this lineup.
  22. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) Have not stopped voting since 5:45. Although I'm still anticipating the MLB article claiming Jeter's "miraculous 10,000 vote comeback occured in the final minute." That's what scares me.
  23. QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) The shot last night had me hoping, but it didn't happen, so I still wonder........Who will be the first player to hit one into the fundamentals area? Nobody.
  24. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Santana's been getting bombed lately. 6 ER today with 3.98 ERA overall. Maybe he's hurt? He took off after the allstar break last year, so I wouldnt count him out yet.
