  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) But see, that's the thing. One doesn't just lose control, and at AAA Charlotte, Diaz had awesome control -- 2004 B-Mac like control, IIRC. One might have the jitters for a while, but one doesn't just lose control -- unless it's after a surgery, or in changing your throwing motion. GeneHC and I (Gene, I hope you're still in this boat... ) still maintain that Felix can still make it as a real solid number 3-4 starter. He's got good control, he can locate the pitches that he throws, and he mixes it up well (at least -- when I saw him when he was on, so-to-speak). Sure, he doesn't bring the heat, but he can still be a good pitcher. With our one-two pitchers locked up for a while -- as well as our threes and fours locked up through '06 -- Felix might be able to serve as our number five in 2007, with (hopefully) B-Mac and someone else (Garland, FA brought in, Tracey) in front of him. Wow, am I doof or what -- looking ahead to 2007... :banghead If you're a doof then I am too, I think a lot of us have looked a couple years ahead, kinda something to think about before the season starts and nothing is going on. I think diaz has a chance to be a 5th starter in this league and I've said that before because of his control. He didn't show his pinpoint control when he was brought up last year and the problem I have with his fastball is not how fast he throws it, it's just straight as an arrow, the ball just doesn't move, as of right now I maintain I think Grilli gives us a better option in the rotation then Diaz would but if Felix would learn to throw in the majors then maybe he would give us a better chance. On the other hand Grilli has some pretty good stuff so if he could learn to locate better then he could be a decent option, either way lets hope we don't have to worry about this during the season
  2. QUOTE(Hall of Famer @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) I don't think so. I mean, Pod's SBs are just like adding on 70 doubles onto his stats. SB's automatically put you into scoring position. More of a lost art, IMO. I'm with you 100 percent on this one, I think the stolen base is more underrated then overrated.
  3. QUOTE(kwill @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) i dont konw about you guys but for some reason i am still hoping for kenny to pull off one more trade just to take the headlines away from the sosa deal. I believe that the sox dominated the headlines in chicago this offseason, and i would like to see kenny make a trade just to keep the momentum going in our favor. It doesnt sound to logical but i was wondering if anyone else felt this way. I think we still have major pawns to play either now or at the deadline. I think we should keep willie for now and see how crede plays in the first half. IF he doesnt produce we could ship him out at the deadline, iguchi to ss, and put willie back in. I believe the sox could get alot for crede in return. Anyone have these thoughts or am i the only who thinks this way?? By the way who here wants to just kick the s*** out of all the critics who are nto giving kenny credit for remaking the club. He has done a terrific job this offseason but no one gives him props. First off welcome, Secondly, I honestly could care less who's getting the headlines, I just want to win.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) Why? Because I think Jason is a better starting pitcher then Felix is, I'm not saying I want to get rid of Felix, I'm just saying Jason is a better emergency starter, imo. Felix might be useful some day if he brings his control with him from aaa but if he's not pin point he's going to have some problems, cause he has 0 movement on his fastball.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) I could care less what they did at Charlotte to be quite honest. The thing that scares me about Diaz is that he is a two pitch pitcher, and neither one of his pitches are that great. I like haveing Grilli around JIC. I'm with you here. I'd like to keep Jason around to be an emergency starter over Felix.
  6. QUOTE(Hanky Panky @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) I don't really care too much if Maggs goes to Detroit or not. I would hate for him to be with the Cubs. If Ordoñez went to the Northsiders, he would be seen as a traitor. I like him too much for this to happen. I sure hope he gets to go to Detroit, or better yet--the Rangers. Welcome
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) im going with UNC, Illini, Duke, and Wake Forest in the final 4. I think Chris Paul will carry Wake to at least final 4. UNC prob the best team of the 4. Illini well we all know about them. And duke in my opinion that regardless of talent are so well coached they will find a way to get there. Duke just doesn't have the talent this year, wake and unc play 0 defense, out of all those teams Illinois has the best chance imo.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) Do not underestimate the Detroit Tigers. I know they have sucked for as long as some of you can remember. But, this is a once-proud franchise that is working it's way back to being a proud franchise again. Trammal, Gibson and Parish are running the show over there now and if you saw how these guys played the game, you'd know the Tigers will be back. And they will. Book it. They got a long way to go.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) Name them. Pujols, Dunn, Edmonds, Rolen, Tejada, Ortiz, Konerko, Lee, Alou, Cabrera, Blalock, Drew, Matsui, Abreu, Berkman, Huff. Now, not all of these guys put up .300, 30 and 100 but some did more in the power numbers and less in their ba. Those guys atleast have comparable type of numbers from last year.
  10. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) lol yep, are you getting nervous yet? Nah, its still a loooooong ways to go. If UNC plays in the tourney like they did against WF, you will win that bet in a heartbeat. Ha, they look real good right now, no doubt about that. I just don't think they have a team built for the tourney, if that makes sense?
  11. I think gatech gets to the final four, Unc out in the sweet 16, me and palehose have a little friendly bet on that going back a long time.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Well, no... People want to bash Harris into oblivion, and then go around and praise the cute Timo Perez. I agree with Badger 100% -- if Harris is cut loose from this team because Perez is taking his spot, it's a real s***ty decision by management. Clutch is a word thrown around far too often, BTW. Too fluctuating, and not enough sample size to really judge anyone in 'clutch' situations... Keith, I'm done arguing this, you got your opinion, I have mine, agree to disagree here.
  13. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) Last 5 full seasons 30+ Home Runs .300 + Average 100+ RBI $11,000,000 name another guy with that offense that will sign for less in any of the next 5 or 6 years. There are quite a few players last year who put up those type of numbers making under 11 mill per year. Your right, that maggs does have the consistancy thing going for him, like I said 11 mill seems like a fair price for a healthy maggs, I just don't see how it's a bargain.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Willie = Good. Timo = Not. Ugh, this argument needs to just go away.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Maggs will have to pass a physical. If he's 85% to 100%, some team is getting a bargain. How's 11-12 mill for 5 years a bargain??? Maggs is a great player but even when healthy I think maggs is worth 10-11 mill and 5 years is an awful lost of year, I just don't see how that can possibly be a bargain.
  16. QUOTE(SoIL @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) The Tigers are fools. Yup, that's a lot of money for a guy with huge question marks to his health. Eleven million for a healthy maggs might even be a bit of a stretch but that's probably around what he's worth when healthy.

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) GOOD BYE TROLL Another if you knew the rulez well the Drays can trade Alomar until June 15th DUH!!!!! GOODBYE, THANKS FOR WASTING OUR TIME :fyou Yeesh, what the heck is up with you lately?? All you're doing is complaining and telling others to f*** off.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) but Jason again proved he's always on top of s***. Except for the spelling, of course

This was the first time I've ever turned on the score in the afternoon since the changes have been made, was that Buffone calling Iguchi, Taguchi?
  21. This team lost it's flash, therefore I highly doubt the sox get any love from any of the experts but who gives a s*** they'll be proven wrong.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 06:12 PM) ROFL, I actually thought about that too. My, we are f***ed up. Have you remembered his name yet????
  23. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) How did all you guys get into the Dolphins? For me it was all Marino. When I was a youngin I was watchign a phins game with my dad he basically told me how great Dan was and I fell in love with Marino and have been a phins fan ever since.
  24. Sox Dolphins Bulls and I really do love the phins and Bulls but the sox are by far and away my favorite sports team.
  25. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) This is something I think people are looking over and not even realizing. This team still does have all kinds of power. There is no doubt in my mind that the Sox will still hit around 200 homers. However...Dye does not = Lee when healthy...Dye is a .270 25 80 .800 type player...Caballo is a .310 35 110 .900 type player, with a little more speed too. I think a healthy dye at the cell hits 30 and 100.
