QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 4, 2008 -> 01:11 AM) I would argue that the Astros had Clemens, Pettitte, and Oswalt going the next 3 games and that nothing was ever said and done even with the Sox up 3-0 without that win in game 4. The Sox have hit Clemens well over the past 8 years or so, but I wasn't feeling comfortable with the potential of him starting game 5 and then having Pettitte and Oswalt backing him up, especially since, outside of 1 inning, those two pitched the Sox very well. No, Juan Uribe was more vital in the championship than Geoff Blum and, in my mind, saying otherwise is ignorant. Eh, it didn't matter, that team wasn't losing that year. But yes, to say Blum was more vital than Juan is completely ignorant.
  2. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) Disagree. I'm a huge Farmer fan. No way is he weaker than Singleton, nor Hawk, for that matter. I'll be supremely pissed if they ever get rid of him. I respect your opinion but I'd LOVE to get rid of Farmer. Can't stand him.
  3. Right guy coming up at least.
  4. JD and Buehrle for me.
  5. I'll be pissed if DJ is let go.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2008 -> 08:53 AM) Question for those who know where to look... How many games into the season was Cleveland 15 games back in 2005? I want to say August 1st but that's a complete guess. EDIT: Looked it up, it was indeed the 1st.
  7. That's great freakin news on Upchurch.
  8. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 11:50 PM) I'm sure Kenny would personally drive Floyd or Danks to the airport as part of a package for either of them. I really doubt that.
  9. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 11:47 PM) This team certainly has holes Tony, what holes exactly? I'm pretty sure I know what you mean but I'd say more weaknesses than holes. At this point, I don't see a glaring hole on this team.
  10. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) Have the Sox been 11 games over .500 this season yet? One other time. So to continue the Alexei love, he has a bad offensive game but unreal in the field today. Is there a better defensive 2b in the AL than him right now?
  11. I'll say this pen is better than the 05 pen.
  12. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) do blackout restrictions apply to sunday night baseball on ESPN? or does everyone get to see this game? Everyone gets it.
  13. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) For Sabathia or Harden? They're better than any and every of our pitchers. Fortunately for us, that's just a hypothetical as we couldn't afford to trade for either. ... If I could improve this team, I'd give it a real, consistent offense. Never said they weren't, that still doesn't answer my question.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) Are you a Dotel fan? I like the performances of Linebrink, Thornton, Boone and Jenks this year, but not Dotel. Dotel's been fantastic, not sure what isn't to like.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) I still think we need an upgrade on Swisher in cf (when Paulie comes back). We need to substitute Dotel for somebody better in bullpen. What? and what x 1000000000000000000000?
  16. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) I'm not sure about the starting pitching at this point. Vazquez and Contreras have sucked lately. As much as I'd love to have somebody like Grady Sizemore, somebody like Sabathia or Rich Harden might be a better option (threoretically speaking, as I know that neither Sizemore nor Sabathia would end up on the Sox). And who are you kicking out of the rotation?
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 03:09 AM) on another, more pleasant note...after today's game, only two of the Sox hitter's in the lineup they put out today are hitting below .270; what's better is that only 1 of them is not a regular. Oh, and Alexei Ramirez is right at the .300 mark. He's gonna be really good. Bureau said you don't find a steal for $4.75 mill over 4 years, but, at this point - given, it's been half a year - I'll disagree. He's not going to be Soriano in the power department, but a lightning quick swing, good power to all fields, and improving defense at 2B - yeah, he's a super keeper. Consider me a huge fan of Alexei now that he's gotten a bit used to MLB pitching. I'd like to think his average will stay at .300 all season and that, come sometime shortly after the ASB, he'll be moved to the 2 hole with Pierzynski moved back to his traditional 6 or 7 hole and the lineup could be crazy good. He doesn't have Soriano power but I'd bet he'll be a 20 homer guy(obviously not this year), he does have some good power.
  18. Alexei is just a stud. We pretty much found a 5 tool player for absolutely nothing, doesn't get much better than that. And on to the other stud, how about that homer by CQ last night? It almost looked like he half swung a pitch out of the park. Absolutely ridiculous power.
  19. Just perfect timing by the camera man.
  20. I hate to b**** about anything after a nice win like today but why was BA not in center in the 9th?
  21. Lies. That 70's show is hilarious.
  22. Bullpen, CQ, JD sick.
  23. Good stuff. Now please lose Minny, PLEASE
