  1. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 11:55 PM) The White Sox have one of the highest payrolls in the game. While I agree that replacing Podsednik is priority number one, finding at the very least a platoon mate as insurance for Brian Anderson in center is a close number two. We have a crap load of money already tied up. Brian is fine, getting a new left fielder is definitely priority number 1 when talking about the offense. After that there isn't a need at all depending on the Uribe situation.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) How is Dye a better RFer than he is a LFer? And how is Ichiro pretty much the same despite never playing a MLB inning in LF? I was wondering the same thing. I guess people just assume you can move Ichiro around anywhere, that being said, we don't know that all.
  3. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) Thanks guys. Slavko.... One of the best birthdays I've ever had since I have someone to share it with now. You know ima party all this week and next. Thanks to every poster here who are like distant brothers/sisters/mothers/fathers to me. Happy bday man.
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) What does the best recruit available in Germany equal these days? Maybe 8th in the big 12?
  5. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Not if you die anytime soon. Well I'm planning on living at least a few more years.
  6. It's good to know that when I die I can put a Sox logo on my casket.
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) Randy Moss would like to agree with you And that's really the only reason some people still think he's good.
  8. Like I said about Carlos Zambrano, I'd kill to have Ichiro on this team. Like NSS said though, I highly doubt Seattle will part with him.
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) And welcome to Thursday for me (well just about anyways). What's the future like?
  10. I actually enjoy flying so maybe I'm not the best to give advice but the first things to pop into my head were just put on some headphones and close your eyes.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 07:04 AM) Well I mean you could always sign Pierre to play LF (gulp) and you don't have to move Contreras to the Rangers, so you have 5 starters that way. Instead you could try to move Fields to say pick up a very good reliever and a good young arm or 2. e.g Fields for Carillo and Scott Cassidy Well I will say one thing, I really hope we trade Fields this offseason. I don't think his value is going to be much higher and I want Joe around, I don't want Fields taking his spot as I just think it's going to take Josh a long time to adjust to major league pitching and I just don't see him being a great hitter either. The one thing you said in this thread that really sticks out to me is trading one of our starters to Texas. Whether it's for a John Danks or maybe a Michael Young. The Rangers are definitely an interesting team that I can see us matching up with pretty well. As far as the bullpen, I'd like us to trade for another right hander that could pitch late in a game(Linebrink or one of the Astros trio for example) and then, yes I'm joining this bandwagon, sign Kerry Wood to an incentive ladin deal if at all possible. I'd love to have Wood in our bullpen, the only thing that would scare me here is if Ozzie got some crazy ideas and wanted him to start eventually. Now obviously everything changes if we could actually trade for Alex, there's a lot of different options for our team because we got something that almost no one else has and that's 6 starting pitchers with at least some amount of trade value. Once again, it's going to be a fun offseason.

  13. The problem with your scenario dbaho, is we just can't go into the season without a 5th starter. Also, out of the 3 sluggers Kong is the one I'd least like to move because of the fact imo he's more of a sure thing than Dye and Thome and he's signed at a very reasonable price over the next 4 years. Absolutely no reason to trade Konerko imo.
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 18, 2006 -> 03:57 AM) Two for the price of one. Ever tried Fat Tire amber ale? Whatcha think? Do you use the word a-hole to mean stupid or a jerk? Nope Jerk

  16. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) ^^^^^ SoxTalk hype on Podsednik's defense. lol, ok.
  17. Ross Gload would be better than Pods out there in left field. Not a question in my mind.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) My worse case scenario is that we get Pierre in CF and Pods is back in LF due to Ozzie loving the slappy speedsters at the top. Oh boy that OF wont throw anyone out. Ok, that's not even funny.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) I just wish that somehow our team could actually focus on finding a leadoff hitter who actually fits with the makeup of the rest of the team. We have a murderous 3-4-5 with a ton of power. We hit a sh*t load of home runs. Stealing bases in front of those type of guys does not have nearly as high of an impact on run production as simply being on base. It's not a bad thing if you're not thrown out a lot, but it's not going to be the end-all-be-all. If you could find me a LF/SS with an OBP somewhere above .350 or .360, I'd be very happy...and spend the rest of my money on pitching. Well that's the thing, what pitching exactly are we going to spend the money on? Fixing the bullpen shouldn't cost that much money and there really isn't that much out there to improve the starters.
  20. IF he's playing left field and never sniffs center and it's to a reasonable deal then I could deal with it. If he's coming in to take Brian's spot, then I'll be pissed.
  21. QUOTE(MichiganBorn @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 07:58 AM) I have been reading all this and I haven't posted anything because I didn't want to be "that guy" who brags in the good times and keeps his mouth shut when things are going bad for his team. But I'm enjoying this time because it may not come again for another 20 years. You should enjoy it, enjoy it as much as possible. I get a kick out of their being an argument over the 07 Tigers in here as well. We have absolutely no clue what that team is going to look like at the moment. It would probably be wise to wait and see before discussing if the 07 Tigers will turn into the 06 White Sox.
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 07:49 AM) SoaB. I bought that damn Fergie CS cause my niece likes that dumb London Bridge song.... and I liked it. Isn't that like a bannable offense now a days?
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 07:34 AM) It was said earlier as well. Something about hell freezing over.. No one listens to you, steff.
  24. I really believe this is the best move the Cubs could have made. Obviously they aren't going to win with this group, but Lou will get the most out of what ever talent they have.
