Look at the DSL results. Not too often you win a game committing 8 errors. Of course the other team had 3.
-
I think you'll be disappointed then. I think both will be here by August.
-
I'm not sure sending him down would really be of benefit. He always had a k:BB ratio of at least 2:1 or higher. I think the more patient hitters in the MLB just lay off the big CB out of the zone that is so effective in the minors. Since it's a wasted year anyway, they may as well leave him here and see if he can't figure out a way to get it done. At the end of the year or next year when it's time for others to come up, he may run out of time.
-
If they were trying to compete, I would agree. But since it's a wasted year, they may as well see how the stuff is playing with MLB hitters. He needs to spot the FB and change in the zone so they chase the CB. Or get the CB dropped in the zone and chase the others. I liked the way he was "pitching backwards" with starting with the CB, he just needs to get some in the zone.

I think his stuff can play in the MLB. I really like the curevball he was throwing yesterday. The only problem was that it dropped so much he couldn't keep it in the zone and it didn't fool anyone. He needs to find a better release point to drop it in the zone. In the minors I could see the less patient hitters swinging at those and giving his stats a false positive. As long as the aren't trying to compete his bast place to test the stuff is in the MLB.

Passan analyzes 2018-19 FA class, Harper vs. Machado
ptatc replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Agreed. However, the timeline for most of those is at least 2-3 years away after this year. -
This makes more sense. If it's truly a grade 2 as reported, they will allow for some healing time usually 3-6 weeks before determining if he needs surgery. However, the previous injury will complicate the decision.

The few ganez Ive seen Tilson in the OF, I think he can be a good CF.
-
I thought the plot of Solo was the best of the bunch.

When Cease was on TV, you could see that he has definite control issues. But the real issue was that many of his strikeouts were on swing and misses out of the zone. If he continues with thethe strikeouts at the higher levels as Kopech has done, his ratings will rise. More patient hitters at higher levels will tell a lot.
-
They obviously were under reporting the injury if they already know he needs UCL after a week. They didnt even wait the normal healing period to see if it tightens up.
-
Is it really that high for people to vote straight party ticket?
-
My question would be, what has he been doing for the previous 400 games in the OF of his career?
-
Yes. Others who try to throw too hard too often. I would rather the marathoner not try to sprint all the time. It will increase the stress on his arm. Why take the chance. Besides this also provides the poor control. He needs to learn how to pitch not just throw otherwise he will never learn. This is a developmental year. Ohtani is currently injured and you dont see Sale throw 100 throughout the whole game even though he can hit it.
-
If they have Davidson and Abreu 1B/DH, what is the best OF? Avasail, Leury, Palka for hitting but thats a bad defense. Engel in the middle?
-
Today looked like progress. Only one walk, so the control is improving. Next step command in the zone. Unless the MLB team needs a RH reliever quickly, I would continue to let him learn.
-
How l0ng do you think his arm will last throwing 97 al the time? Also that is why he walks so many. Most pitchers cant throw at their max and have good control.
-
They are correct where the definition of a grade 2 is a partial tear. Some pitchers do need surgery even with a partial tear. Most dont. The key is how stable the joint is after the healing period usually the 3-6 weeks. They will know at that time whether he will need to replace it.
-
They really havent promoted anyone who deserves it. There must be a mass migration happening soon with around 15 players moving.

The White Sox have lost the most strikes in baseball
ptatc replied to daggins's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No doubt. -
After watching the game last night, I think the late movement in the strike zone is the big difference. The ball was moving enough that they couldnt get good contact.
