  1. The question: Is it too late? This should have happened LAST August realistically. Yost is as bad a manager as I've ever seen, which is obviously saying something with all the bad managers in baseball.
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) Its called "Beep".Most people havent heard this ringtone because they are busy putting songs that you cant even hear what song it is. I hate musical ringtones. I use myxer. Free ringtones and you can customize so that the ringtone will be some specific part of the song, so it works out.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 02:34 PM) I think you'll see the coaching staff take a real look at some QB's in next years draft. And to be honest, why the f*** didnt we look at Culpepper? With a good running game and defense, you need an offense that can stretch the field with success, which Daunte has shown he can do. Because he's washed up and bad. He'd have a job otherwise. The Bears obviously need to pick up at leats one (more likely two) quarterbacks after this season though. As I said before the season, the quarterback of the next really good Bears team, like one that wins the division, isn't on the roster yet.
  4. Or, of course, if you have specific ringtones for certain people, we can make this plural and ask what songs are your ringtones? I've often seen the topic "what song would be your at-bat song", and I think for a lot of people, the answer to that question would be whatever the ringtone on their cell phone is.

  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) Wow. My Raiders look a heck of a lot different since last week. Maybe there's hope. They looked a lot better, but overall I still don't think there is hope. McFadden is a stud and the fact Fargas got hurt means more of run DMC on the field which is good. However, Kansas City is the worst team in the league (they won't win more than 2 or 3 games), so don't read too much into yesterday. Lane Kiffin could be canned at any moment as well. The Raiders are like the Blackhawks a couple years ago, they have no hope until their crazy owner dies. Mean, but true.
  7. This has to be posted somewhere in the filibuster, so I'll put it here: The Palin impression by Tina Fey is just so dead on, from the appearance to the voice. Fantastic.

  9. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) If there's one thing the financial types around here have taught me, it's that the free market is always self-correcting and walks on water, so I'm not worried. I agree, but I would think that between this and the hurricane's affect on Texas (as well as the flooding in the midwest and gas prices), it will be a very bad day for stocks tomorrow.
  10. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) Z pisses a lot of people off w/ his personality - but my biggest gripe w/ today's athlete is their seeming dispassion regarding the actual in-game happenings. In that sense, Z is absolutely a positive force, i can't deny it. When you hear him explain it in a postgame, he's quiet, semi-embarassed and realizes he was acting insane during the game. Like a fan, no? Agreed 100 percent. That's why I have no problem with him, other than the fact he's on the Cubs.
  11. Today's loss goes on mostly Greg Olsen, with an assist to Ron Turner. I have never seen a worse set of three play calls than the three at the end of the game by the Bears, but it doesn't come to that if Greg Olsen could hold on to the ball. Olsen looked like a Bears first rounder today, that's for sure. I feel so bad for the Chargers too, I can't think of the last time I saw a team get f***ed by the refs that badly. Horrible, when they change the rules because of a game you lost (and I bet that happens after today in regards to the whistle after the incompletion thing), you know you got screwed.
  12. I think the Uribe play in the 7th inning of game 1 is just like a summary of how this season has gone so far. We screw it up, but we make up for it and do something well all in one. This team is so maddening, but we still have the two game lead in the loss column and a very good record. It's strange.
  13. Didn't matter where the game was tonight, nobody was going to touch Zambrano. The no hitter is nice for Z, but obviously means nothing other than that and the fact it proves he's healthy. It's amazing that Milwaukee is collapsing again, Ned Yost has to be the worst manager in baseball.
  14. I hate doubleheaders. Hate them. But that was just a huge, huge sweep. We really need both games and got them. Wow, and Dewayne Wise worth his weight in gold just for that one swing alone. We aren't going ANYWHERE with this bullpen, but at least we won twice today.
  15. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 13, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) But there's absolutely no media bias. Pllllllueaaaase. Well to be fair, it's not a bias, it's a flat out rooting interest. The media wants the man who was a community organizer just like Jesus Christ in the White House, and will do anything they can to help him out. The fact this race is still so close shows, among other things, how little the media means and/or how tired of them people in America are.
  16. Wisconsin survives at Fresno State, but the Big 10 still was horrible today. This might be the worst the Big 10 has been yet this season when you combine Michigan and the fact Ohio State was a joke tonight. They can't even use the "if we only had Beanie" excuse, because they couldn't block or tackle tonight. Penn State and Wisconsin are the only teams of relevance in the league that might be better this year, and I'm still iffy on if Wisconsin is. Illinois I guess could be better too, but their schedule is pretty rough and they've been underwhelming in every game so far. Either way, you see my point. The league is better depthwise because Minnesota, Northwestern, and Iowa are better, but nobody cares about depth. It matters what the big boys do, and part of the reason the league will be "deep" is the big boys are down. It's like the NFL, almost everybody has a chance because almost nobody is great. At the same time, the ACC and Big East still blow (both much worse than the Big 10) and the Pac-10 was BRUTAL today too outside of SC being great and Oregon getting some good luck. It seems like the Big 12 and SEC are miles ahead of every other conference in America right now. I would be surprised if the National Championship game isn't between USC and Oklahoma or Missouri. The only game on Mizzou's schedule I could see them losing is at Texas, and if OU survives the red river shootout, they get to play Texas Tech at home (sorry, KU is good, but not in the same class as either Mizzou or OU). Either Mizzou or Oklahoma will run the table (if not both), and I think one will go win the Big 12 Title game too. Then again, with as good as the Big 12 is, maybe neither survive. But after seeing the rest of the Pac-10 today, the only team left that can beat USC before early January is USC.
  17. This could turn out to be a truly embarassing day for the Big 10. Michigan looked pathetic (me having them going 5-7 looks optimistic right now), Purdue blows a huge lead at home to Oregon, Illinois struggles at home against the Ragin Cajuns. I understand Iowa did their job, but if Wisconsin and Ohio State blow lose tonight (which would be no surprise), everybody will be laughing at the Big 10, as usual. I get tired of watching this.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) USF/Kansas is the game of the year so far. Absolutely fantastic game, had just about everything you'd want in a great one. I was way off thinking it would be low scoring, but it was of no surprise to me that USF won a very close and very good game. It's a shame they put this game on a Friday night on ESPN2 so a lot of people didn't see it, but I'm glad I did. I think the wind pushed that game winning field goal by USF back through the uprights. It looked to be fading but it suddenly pushed back just far enough to sneak in.
  19. This feels like it is going to be pretty bad, if not really bad. I REALLY hope I am wrong though.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) The speed of SFLA is going to be a huge factor in this game, but I think that Kansas will grind one out. The real x-factor to me is whether or not Reesing can fit his passes in past the speedy and talented db's of SFLA. I agree with your last sentence. Whether or not he can fit the ball into tight areas, as well as how SFLA tackles, will be huge. If Kansas wins tonight, I would be very impressed. This would be more impressive a win than any they had last year, including the Orange Bowl. Not as important obviously, but more impressive IMO.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) Ill take that. I'll take Kansas based almost entirely on QB play. I'm going to make the assumption that it'll be a full house tonight in Tampa (or close to it) and Raymond James Stadium really doesn't get enough credit for how loud it is. You can't hear a thing in that place. Combine that with the speed South Florida has on defense, and Matt Grothe at QB, and I like their chances. I think it will be a VERY good game though, lower scoring and decided by a touchdown or less.
  22. The Tribune is going to have a series of resignations and inner revolts to deal with if they make that hire. Good luck with that.
  23. The ACC Coastal division could be fun. It's not very good, but it's so wide open. Duke and Virginia are just awful, but the other four teams (DA U, UNC, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech) all have a very good chance to get into the ACC Championship game and play for a BCS bid. Oh, and if you have a chance, watch the game tonight. It's Kansas at South Florida, and it could be fantastic. I like South Florida in this one though, they have too many athletes for Kansas to handle and are better than any team the Jayhawks beat last year.
