What a great time to be a non-Cubs Chicago sports fan.

5 years ago today...
If you asked me when Humber threw his perfect game, it's as likely that I would have guessed ten years ago as I would have guessed five. I have no frame of reference for his time with the Sox.

So, the one PBP guy sounds a little like Wayne Larivee, and the color guy sounds like Lars Ulrich.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) Man, I could copy and paste this all day long in this forum. You can also just pop in here every few days and say, "I don't even understand what you guys are arguing about," and the post wouldn't be out of place at all.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 12:11 PM) Do they not have bridges in Arizona? Well, London Bridge (the London Bridge) is in Lake Havasu. Haven't seen it listed for sale, though.

Hawks have been getting beat to every 50/50 puck. Preds seem faster and bigger. Nice combination.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) Come on craw Yeah, I'm not sure a goalie is supposed to stand straight up and turn his back to the play when he's not sure where the puck is.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 01:47 PM) I thought it meant 'dull' so my bad. I thought it meant dull. I didn't care if somebody thought I was dull. Good movie. It was meant as it was used in "Shawshank." It's not meant as stupid or anything. Just a little thick headed. I truly do find Greg entertaining. Greg posts "x." Someone will post a link that disproves it (as much as any link can or should be trusted). Then, Greg will change his position. I actually appreciate that he is willing to change because it would be nice if others did budge, even a little, from time to time. I actually think Greg's position is that he is sick of the establishment Dems and Reps, and that is why he likes the outsiders (Trump, Obama, Sanders) who were not the traditional candidates when they ran. I think Greg is really a third party, independent candidate type, but I can't for the life of me understand how he seems to be ok with Trump the President. Trump the ideal (outsider, drain the swamp, make government efficient), I can see why Greg is drawn to that. But, Trump immediately did a 180 when he got in office and has changed almost everything that he stood for when he was running. I don't think any President has ever done this so quickly. Anyway, nothing terrible was meant by the obtuse comment. Or, maybe I'd just like to avoid a week in "the hole."

2016-17 NHL Thread
This has the feel of last year's series with the Blues. I remember thinking, "This team may actually be better than us." Nashville is just dominating the Hawks. One shot for our offense max. They seem to skate freely between the blue lines 1 leading to quality shots on Crawford. They're parked in front of our net, and we have nobody in front of Rinne. Hawks need to explode in game 3.

I assume we'll end up with Tim Tebow at some point. Toolsy outfielder.

The Pet Thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 09:00 AM) These meds aren't helping his paw. He's fine one day, the other he is limping around. Been told to look into fish oils. Anyone use em? My boxer had a terrible arthritis in his hips. He could hardly put any pressure on his leg at times, couldn't jump, had trouble getting out of the laying down position. He was super athletic before the arthritis, too. Anyway, we brought him to a few vets, and they gave us some pain meds, but he didn't really get better. I thought we were going to have to put him down. Then, someone recommended this OTC supplement called "Super Joint Enhancer." We ordered it from 1800PetMeds, and it worked, but not immediately. In fact, after a week or so, it didn't seem like he was getting better, so my wife called back and they refunded our money. I kept giving our dog the pills, and after about another week, we noticed improvement. He stil had some problems, but he started running around again and being playfulL. It's worth a try. The pills are a little expensive (around $50), but they constantly send discount offers, so yo can get a deal.

Holiday Thread: Do u Recognize Easter as One?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 03:59 PM) Hey, I declined my family's offer to return to Chicago for Easter this year mainly because my sister has lost it at least temporarily and screams at relatives left and right and I didn't want to deal with it. Surely you've explained to her that you hate Hillary, but also didn't vote for Trump. You're more of a Bernie/Jesse guy.... Easter's as much of a holiday as the rest. Family gets together, overeats, has some festivities. Everything about it screams holiday. The religion part is for the religious, just like Christmas.

2017 AL Central Catch all thread
QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) Agreed. I like homers for game calls. It's annoying from the outside listening in but for fans of the team, that's what they should do. Different sport, but I don't get a super Homer vibe from Pat Foley & Eddie O on the Hawks games. They definitely call the game from the Hawks perspective, but I don't think they do it with blinders. I think it's possible in baseball. There are two teams out there and plenty of time, so a little research and some stories about the other team from time to time would be nice.

I know Greg bothers some people, but his obtuseness continually entertains me. I'd love to think this is some character he is playing for the internets, but, nope, I think he really thinks it - types it.

Top White Sox Prospect Report - 4/14
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 07:54 AM) This will be our regular Friday base content. Owen will run down the Top 15 prospects in the system (and maybe others at times), looking at how they did in the past week and so far on the season as a whole, pointing out trends as warranted. It will give you a quick look at how all the high end talent is doing. Here is the first edition. As with all these new content formats, we are open to feedback! We may tweak things as we go on, and if you have suggestions, we are listening. Good stuff. Thanks.

Game of Thrones night
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 06:54 PM) I'm like the 6th person in America that has never watched GOT but this is a pretty solid idea. White Sox need to do s*** like this when they're good let alone rebuilding. I'm like the many in America that have watched every GOT (2x), but this is a pretty solid idea. Podcasts
I started listening to "Doughboys." It's 1 to 1.5 hours per episode. It's two guys and a guest reviewing a different chain restaurant each show. I've listened to 9. Surprisingly entertaining after you listen to a few.

J. Geils - 71. "Centerfold" remains one of the quintessential 80s songs. My older sister had the 45, and my brother & two other sisters played it over and over as we created havoc in the basement that we spent so many hours in when we were growing up.

Food, Glorious Food
I chose the beef. I think it's my favorite "Chicago" food. I love pizza, but I can tolerate almost all types. Even the cheap ones (Little Caesars, et al) have place in my life. Incidentally, I went vegan for Lent (basically no meat, fish, eggs, cheese - I'm not reading ingredient labels), and it hasn't been too hard. The no animal part of being a vegan is easy, but finding non-carb and non-canned food replacement meals makes it a little difficult. It's pretty inconvenient to be a healthy vegan if you don't want to go to the store every night for fresh vegetables & fruit.

A guy with a ponytail was walking out of the grocery store while I was on my way into the store. He said to a woman he was with, "...and I really thought the ponytail would help...." I'm very curious what he thought a ponytail would help him with.
