  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) Time to skip Freddy in the rotation with all these days off. Doesn't work out well. Our next offday is Monday, Sept. 13. You skip Garcia's turn on Tuesday and everyone else has to go on 3 days rest.
  2. The Republican Party: arguing that we should be no better than Pakistan and Saudi Arabia since 2009.
  3. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) he has been on the 15 day DL for 55 days and he is not going to play in the next 5, so its just an accounting thing It does mean that if there was any chance he'd be back this season...someone would have to clear waivers to make room for him.
  4. Evil racist MotherF***er.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Take notes, Kansas City Bah...there's much more of a legitimate safety issue here if people started getting ready to go out to the game.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) Joe West is just a horrible umpire, period. He needs to be seriously evaluated by the MLB and Umpires association, many of his calls seem to stem from whatever mood he is in The sad thing is, I wanted to like him for that Red Sox/Yankees/get your tails moving rant earlier this year, because he was totally right. Then we started paying attention to him during games. He's like Leslie Nielsen as the umpire in The Naked Gun.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) @MDGonzales: Sox-boston postponed Good to get that done early. Another day for Becksy to relax
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) Do you really think thats the reason why he didn't make a move? I'm sure he looked and didn't see anything that would work in his eyes. Actually, the reason why he didn't make a move in 2006 is that Soriano wouldn't sign a contract extension and he didn't want to give up McCarthy without getting a longer-term commitment from Soriano. The Sox also made a move in 2006 to acquire Mike McDougal.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) In prior years Kenny has used it as an excuse to stand pat. What years has KW actually stood pat?
  10. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) So, could this be sort of classified as trying to steal an election? http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...ate=fullarticle But I thought the Tea Party was a non-partisan movement in favor of certain values, not an explicit arm of the Republican party. Anywho, if they lied/forged information to get onto the ballot, yeah, throw them in jail.
  11. Since coming off the DL he's 12/57 with 6 walks, 2 HR, 3 2b, 21 K's.
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) who knows with how the market will shake out and what goes on with PK, but say the Sox have some interest in Manny for a one year deal, is Boras still his agent? (and I say "still" because I seem to remember him being his agent for the Red Sox mega deal, I could be completely wrong and he never was, lol!) Yes, Boras is his current agent. B-R gives you info on agents too.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) As for Chrysler, I am shocked they have survived the recession at all. That company is just hanging on by a thread it seems, and I wonder who is actually buying their non-jeep brands at all. Apparently its rental car companies. They survived the recession in the same way that every single bank on Wall Street survived it; the government decided they couldn't let them fail, not because of anything they did correctly.
  14. It goes on and on and on and on (Giggity giggity giggity)
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 09:50 AM) Jobs recovery started earlier than any other recent recession ? Basically, the only one that your statement is partially accurate about is the 2001 recession. And the reason the drop stalled and turned around is probably directly associated with the stimulus package.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) Either way, this Bulls roster is already going to be the best we've seen since Michael retired. Assuming Boozer, Deng, and Rose stay somewhat healthy.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) ...and a franchise player! Deng + Taj + bounty of picks + JJ (if he doesn't lessen the value of the package!) is the best deal the Bulls can offer, and it sounds like they have. If nothing happens until deadline time this year, it actually might make any sort of deal that the Bulls could offer quite a bit better...esp. if Deng gets off to a good start thanks to having a better team around him, Taj gets off to a good 2nd year start...and you factor in that some of those short-deal guys the Bulls signed this offseason will suddenly be expiring contracts.
  18. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) Umm... no. I said Steinbrenner. He didn't file for bankruptcy, did he? Where you're going to get that kind of revenue outside of the NYC media market then becomes your question. If you try to spend like him without having the revenue stream, you wind up doomed.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) I'm a huge Noah fan but if he is what's preventing the Bulls from getting Carmelo, I'm driving his ass to the airport. The issue might not be as much the Bulls being unwilling to give up Noah, but instead it might be the Nuggets understanding that they're going to have to extend Noah this year and as such Noah not offering really anything in terms of salary relief. Deng's contract + $10 million+ to extend Noah in exchange for Anthony means they've taken on an additional $5-10 million in salary, and I believe they're in tax territory, so that's nearly $20 million out the door in that deal.
  20. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) How can anyone not pick Reinsdorf or Eddie Einhorn? You would be the freaking owner!! I'd go all Steinbrenner on everybody and build a juggernaut. And then you'd go all tribune company and file for bankruptcy.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 08:16 AM) That's a long break. I wonder if they skip a guy in the rotation. Why would they do that? The only likely candidate for a skipped day is the guy who just pitched 4 innings on Wednesday and left with a stiff back.
  22. Some will win (no one from Minnesota is included in the group "Some")
  23. Really? They lost that game? I'm stunned. Yay.
