It's both. Except for the rest helping. Eventually he'll need hip surgery. I don't know why he wont rest. But there is a LOT of speculation of his role with the Sox since he started having this house built within blocks of the park.... Not one player lives anywhere near the park. Most are on the complete other side of the city or in the western burbs. He's got a lot of people confused. Him wanting to live close to where he works is the cause of speculation and confusion? I don't understand that. Did he not see what it did to Joey? Also, this surgery..would it be career-ending, or would it be something that he could rehab from and come back good as new? It didn't work for Bo Jackson or Albert Belle. Quite the contrary -- Bo came back after the surgery and still produced at the major league level. True, he was a shell of his former great self, but since Paulie was never a 5-tool player to begin with, I think it would be different for him. All he's really good at is hitting and scooping low throws at 1st -- seems to me like a new hip would help him.

this is not calling out someone to question their views??? lol... lazy ass go look it up, or shut up and dont question my statement... i already know the answer......... No...calling you out would have been saying "you're a f***ing liar". I merely questioned your source of information. You hadn't said you were at the game at that point, so for all I knew you could have been talking out of your ass again. But anyway, the only person that's played with Klesko at the major league level has been Tony G back in Atlanta in the late 90's. If it's him, it would make sense for him to feel that way (even if it's not true). He's taking PT away from Tony, and I'm sure there's a bit of jealousy involved there. Either way, like I said, it's Jimenez's job to lose, and if he keeps up what he's been doing lately, he just might do so.

Since I'm somewhat ignorant as to the details of the degenerative hip disease, let me ask a couple of questions. 1) What does the disease do to the hip? Does it eat away at it until it's like swiss cheese? and 2) Would rest and rehab do anything to help it? Or is it just as it says, "degenerative", and will continue to get worse with time regardless of the action(s) taken? If it's #1, he's obviously screwed and he's just biding his time and sticking around as long as he can. But if it's the first part of #2, he's a moron for continuing to play with it. The thing I don't understand is if he's going to get paid, why wouldn't he take some time off to see if it would help the problem? He's got to have some pride, and hitting .185 has got to be killing him.

Uh, I didn't "try to call you" on anything. And anyway, it doesn't matter. Jimenez being in or out of the lineup is going to depend on him. If he gets his head out of his ass, he'll be in. If he doesn't, he'll be trade bait. Either way, the Sox will do what's best for the team.

There are several threads with the details of Paul's real injury. Well I have seen things posted about a "degenerative hip condition" but that makes no sense, so unless you can shed some light here, then I am not buying it. If Paul's hip is so bad that fans would know about it, then the White Sox would have to know as well. And I don't buy for a minute that the Sox are going to allow a guy hitting .180something to take up a roster spot if he is indeed injured. That would be the dumbest thing a club could do when they have been struggling as they have. It just doesn't add up Steff, so shed soem light on this for me, will ya? Guess this "fan" just knows the right people. Paul has been getting shots in his hip since the morning of May 5th. Believe me, or don't. But before you buy the BS about his shoulder being sore, watch the replay of that play and you'll see there's no way he injured his shoulder there. The point of lying to the Sox fans is....what? If he goes on the DL, he goes on the DL -- whether it's for a hip, shoulder, or a rash on his dick. If it's a hip injury, what good does it do the Sox to try and hide it? Of course it would be good to try to hide it from other teams, but if Steff knows about the cortizone (sp?) shots, I'm sure many others do too, so word's gonna get out to any would-be teams that the Sox would trade him to. Making up a shoulder injury serves no purpose, unless I'm completely missing something.

What I was told from another sufferer of DHD is that there is no way other then for the player to tell them that it hurts. There's no x-ray that can see INSIDE the bones to see how bad it is. Paul needs to speak up.. that will never happen. Then if what you are saying is fact, Paul is an idiot.

think about who played with kelsko before and youll find your answer....... that didnt take a rocket scientist to figure out........... Where does it say that the person who spoke to Klesko used to be a teammate of his? You are assuming a lot when you assume it's someone he played with in the past. im not assuming anything.. if you were watching the game you would know who the hell it is... they were talking quite a lot during the pre game.......... Save me the time of looking back through the careers of the Sox players...who was it?

I shall reserve comment, as I do not wish to start a mini-war.

As for Jimenez, one Sox player who spoke to the Padres' Ryan Klesko during the series against San Diego two weeks ago told him he agreed with what he had said during spring training. NO names are mentioned. Unless there's a name attached to whoever supposedly agreed with Klesko, I wouldn't buy into it.

LOL, good quote by Borowski.

Hmmm...so it was on that play. Interesting. Well, sounds like PK is saying all the right things. I really hope he gets this turned around -- he seems to be trying his hardest, and that's probably what's hurting him the most right now. He's pressing, and that's not going to help. I agree with southsider -- if he's hurtin', he should go on the DL, and we can get a hot bat up here for a while. Someone like Miles can add not only the hot bat, but some speed and intensity. You can never have too much intensity on a team.

His shoulder? I didn't hear that. I'm clear out in CA, though, so I don't hear nearly as much as some of you in Chicago do. There was a play on Saturday, I think, when he ran over toward the crowd for a foul ball, and he kind of tripped and fell into the wall. Looked like he may have injured his lower body on that play, but he stayed in the game. What are the Sox gonna do with PK?

2 words: Kevin Maas. I remember when his 1990 Fleer card was the hot item. The whole set was worth like $10, but his card alone was worth like $5. I had like 5 of them, LOL. Wish I had sold them.

Comparing one guy's best year to another's worst year proves nothing. Wood, over his career, is 17 games over .500 (.598 winning percentage) with an ERA of 3.64 and a 1.261 WHIP. Colon, over his career, is 35 games over .500 (.619 winning percentage) with an ERA of 3.89 and a 1.345 WHIP. Buehrle, over his career, is 13 games over .500 (.587 winning percentage) with an ERA of 3.71 and a 1.228 WHIP. Keep in mind that MB has been in the AL his whole career, and BC has as well except for the last half of last season. That drives their ERA up a bit. So, while Wood may be doing better than them so far in '03, to proclaim he's superior to them is inaccurate IMO.

After Sunday's game, he said "I'm just glad it's over and that we survived". WTF is he talking about? First off, it's not war -- it's a game. 2nd off, the Cubs lost 4 out of 6 games. Since when is that "surviving" in baseball? If you play .333 ball for too long, you find yourself at the bottom of the division. Sammy needs to start thinking before he does things.
-
Yeah, I think I read that somewhere. But, if he's healthy, I don't look for him to spend too much time there. Probably just 2 or 3 outings, and if he's got good stuff, he'll be back with the squad.

As we've seen in the last 3 series, the first game is crucial. Win it, and all you have to do is split the next 2 to win the series. Lose it, and you're forced to win 2 straight to win the series. With Garland going against Mays, it'll be a good test for the Sox -- especially coming off the loss Sunday. Hopefully they can rebound and not miss a stride.

Definitely. White appears to be turning the corner, as does Koch. Hopefully Marte can return to his dominant form of earlier this season. Getting Glover some quality time would be a huge plus. Also, Kelly is due to return soon I believe, so he'll help too.

I know that most of you have started to give Carlos some respect, but I was looking at his .270 average, and remembered just how poorly he started off this year. I realize that you can't really say "if you forget about this and this", but IF you overlook his 2 for 23 start, he's hitting .285 this season, which would be tops on the team. Pretty sad that .285 would lead the team, but that's the way it is right now. And his aggressiveness on the base paths and in the field have been much-improved over last season. He's setting a good example for others, and could really be a big part of this team later in the year. Either on the field, or for trade bait if we get a good offer from a team (maybe for a #3 or #4 starter or something). The only thing I'd like to see from him right now is taking some more pitches. It seems like he always swings at the first pitch, and gets himself into 0-2, 1-2 holes quite often. It's difficult for ANYONE to hit in those situations, but especially a free-swinger like Carlos. In his last 10 games, he has drawn 0 walks and has struck out 7 times. At the same time, he's been hitting well (.341, 1 HR, 7 RBI), so it hasn't gone noticed. 0 walks in 10 games is unacceptable, though. Still, he's starting to heat up just when the Sox need him. Way to go, El Caballo!

"Garbage time"? The last 2 games he has pitched very well, and has not been in "garbage time" at all. In the 6th inning on Saturday, he came in with runners on 1st and 3rd and the Cubs up 6-4. He got Sammy to fly into an inning-ending flyout. He then pitched the next 1 2/3 innings and did so scorelessly. He kept the game close enough for the Sox to win, and we did. Then, Sunday, he came in with the Sox down 5-2, and threw 2 more scoreless innings to keep the Sox in the game. They had a chance in the 8th to tie it up, but it just didn't work out. So while early on he came in during garbage time a lot, recently he's been used in games that are still in question, and he's done very well.

Who is Drew trying to kid? The only decent looking one is Cameron Diaz. Drew = :puke

I'd rather have "couple of lucky line-drive DPs to SS with RISP" than bloopers and bleeders that go for basehits in the same situation. He's a good pitcher, and he's starting to get it together. Good thing, too, because the Sox were only using Gordon, Marte, and Koch there for a while. That wouldn't bode well over the long-haul.

Yeah really. The series at Wrigley, Zambrano struck out Carlos Lee in a big situation and practically started doing the Mexican hat dance on his way to the dugout. "What a dirty old man" -- my grandpa's comment after the camera was zoomed in on Dusty when he was spitting. LMAO. :fyou Dusty, you D.O.M
