  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) But that team you list will include players we get for Danks and Floyd. Are you saying those will be minor leaguers? You lineup looks like the team. Seriously will it be the slowest team in the history of baseball? Those guys better hit a ton of home runs. Very very slow. Maybe slowest team in Sox history? Not even close to both of those bold sentences.
  2. How fitting was it that Juan Pierre made our last out? QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) Wow, a bulls*** call fitting of this season. He didn't swing.
  3. I'm just crushed. Those poor players needed that extra $10,000 for second place. Now they'll never see it
  4. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) This is precisely why we're all kidding ourselves to think Martinez will be the guy, as much as we may want him, because I don't believe he's a yes man. Alomar it is That was also one of my reasons, but Alomar is apparently into stats and such, so I'm not against getting him.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) Forget it. Hawk is here until he dies. Exactly. I'm pretty damn tired of him, though.
  6. Wait, someone explain to me how Chen can still be traded.
  7. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) I like the idea of Alomar as a manager, he has been around baseball his entire life. The thing that concerns me is that he could be Jerry Manuel all over again. I think he is a good option and worthy of getting a shot. I also think the Sox have no shot at Davey Martinez. He will be holding out for a more lucrative and high profile job than the Sox can/will offer. Can't that be said about basically anyone in baseball?
  8. QUOTE (qwerty @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:58 AM) So i was sitting here noshing on something delicious, and i was hit by an idea. Only one thing could possibly top the removal of ozzie guillen. ... and that would be if greg permanently forgot his password. I'm not the religious type... but you better believe me, i pray of it happening on a daily basis. Those trolls roaming around are too much to bear, they suck. Less than greg sucks... but they suck nonetheless. Greg is stronger than ever now. Think about it, he has a god damn posse of invalids at his beck and call to jam their pea-brained ideas down our throats. Please suspend me like i asked last time. When i am able to come back... just give me access to SLaM until noted otherwise. After all, there will always still be the filibuster, and i enjoy a good laugh as much as the next guy. This guy never disappoints. People complained that the constant negativity drove "good" posters away, but look what the incessant crap from guys like greg is doing. It's driving legitimately good posters like qwerty away to the point that we hardly see him post anymore.
  9. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) Jeez, you are like the taliban of Ozzie haters, lol. I'm America. The Ozzie lovers are the Taliban.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) I have never seen anything in Sandy that would draw a comparison to Ozzie. Nothing at all. Neither being anything but a base coach before being hired as a manager. Perhaps a better comparison would be if the Sox hired Baines as manager. Both quiet guys with no managerial experience, but they both played for the team. Either way, this was all changed when I found out that Alomar has a sabermetrics background.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 08:07 AM) ChuckGarfien Chuck Garfien Adam Dunn not in Sox lineup tomorrow. So he won't break MLB record for worst qualifying batting average. Such a p**** move. It's like sitting out the last game when you're hitting .401. Get out there and take it like a man.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) Martinez spent three full season with the Sox. Sandy spent about two and a half. They are both organizational guys. But Alomar seemed, until I was put right, to be a guy that was just a former player. Martinez seemed to have actually gone out and learned sabermetrics and acted as a bench coach in order to groom himself as a manager. Alomar seemed more Ozzie-like at first.
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) It's time, but goodness the damage that has been done waiting a year is pretty huge. - Committing $56M to Dunn - Not dealing Danks, Thornton, Quentin among others when they were at optimal value. - Wasting a year of Sale's development as a starting pitcher. It's been needed for much longer than a year.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) Would AA have had him as a final 2 candidate if he didnt pay attention to stats? Ah, that did not cross my mind. I'm actually very swayed by that piece of information. I'm on board now.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:31 AM) That would be interesting. Sandy as either the 3B coach or bench coach with Martinez. I could live with that, but they'll hire Alomar. We need to bring somebody in that's not buddy-buddy with the organization. Somebody that would shake things up. Alomar just seems like a guy that won't change much about the mindset of this team.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:22 AM) So I take it they're not even going to interview candidates? Who's running the show? Jerry Reinsdorf, and apparently with an iron fist. It's a joke that they aren't even going to give anyone a fair shake. But we all knew it would be Alomar. It was just so easy to see.
  17. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) There will still be plenty of b****ing about Kenny Williams. I guarantee that some people will b**** about KW even if the Sox win the AL Central going away next year. They're called Ozzie lovers.
  18. It was fun listening to the deafening boos (from about 15,000 fans) after each of his K's last night. I didn't think that few people could make that much noise.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:00 AM) Congrats, Kenny. Only about four years late to the party. Dumbass. This.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) We always said that Ozzie could get away with just about anything while the pro-Ozzie crowd stood behind him. This about proves it. I've said that he could piss directly in their faces and they'd rationalize it. I don't think I'm kidding.
  21. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:34 AM) They have a set rotation!? It's easy for people who don't pay attention to facts to ignore that, even though it's been said about 150 times in the last month.
  22. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 06:11 AM) Genius? All I can say is WOW. Yeah, it's pretty awful. And when you look at who agrees with him, it's not even slightly surprising. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 07:31 AM) Lol, you know when you hang your opinion on a blog written by a guy named Duk that youve made it. Haha.
  23. Unless he's friends with them, that is. If they're a young, likely white, player, he'll criticize the s*** out of 'em.
  24. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:27 AM) I try not to have negative emotions when it comes to sports. Rarely, especially in Chicago baseball does your team have a chance at a championship. Happy I got one for sure but I associate it as a team thing not a manager or GM. I've seen my share of players, managers and owners come and go. The one constant is 90 % of the time we don't win. If I were to be bothered by losing all the time I'd already have an ulcer or high blood pressure. The only thing that bothers me slightly is being known as a laughing stock or dysfunctional. I'd rather the team be un-noticed . I find no thrill at all when Ozzie got pub for being crass or foul-mouthed . Ozzie and family antics did bother me but more so what he did on the field. I hoped ( and wrote here) he was a lame duck after the nationally televised game where he did his fishing pole thing, a reference perhaps to the off season or the Marlins. So how do I feel ? Glad the sideshow and on field showing up of KW is over. Looking forward to De Aza and Viciedo playing full time and maybe even Flowers getting a shot ; Sale , Stewart and Axlerod getting a chance at starting and Reed in the pen. Always look forward , never look back . Keep hope alive but don't expect miracles. It's always spring training in my mind. As a Sox fan I know no other way. Yikes. Depressing, but true.
  25. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:44 AM) And I have a holiday dinner to attend, how f***in awesome Stupid religion I don't even believe in. Jewish?
