QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 01:34 AM) Was S4 the one with John Lithgow? That season was phenomenal. Yes sir.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 09:32 PM) We still have a trophy. We'd have a minimum of four with Maddon, and he'd be a surefire Hall of Famer. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) I do think they should set an end date for Dexter so they have a for sure ending to work towards. Maybe one more season after this. I was hoping that this one would have been the last, but next year is hopefully it. It'll never top season 4.

White Sox Sign Sergio Santos to 3 year deal

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) Umm what? Josh Fogg as a pretty high quality starter? He was a well below average SP. I was going to say something about that. Fogg was (I had to check if he was even in the league anymore, and he's not) the definition of serviceable, at best. -

The Guillen's all talk an awful lot of s*** for being scrawny little p*****s. Good for Stone. Making an innocent, yet extremely accurate, remark that can also be construed as a jab. -

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) If I'm not mistaken, Maddon was on the Sox short list after Manuel was fired. Same with Scoscia after Bevington was let go. Son of a b****. That both makes me angry and makes me worry about our choice this time. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) I think the casting makes sense. She's not suppose to be sexy or glamorous. Saw someone earlier post they are more excited about Walking Dead than Dexter. Come in, folks. I like Walking Dead enough to keep watch but while Dexter last season was lackluster, it wasn't bad enough to get down on after 4 great seasons before. Walking Dead still has to pull me in. It was all over last year. I hope it gets real good because their is room on tv for the premise. The season finale also left a bad taste in my mouth. To be fair, Dexter seems to be repeating its own story lines anymore. If he's not hunting down another serial killer, he's teaching someone else how to be one. This next season looks like it's just mixing those two together.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) I don't think anyone really expected that the post-2008 moves the Cubs have made were on the "Turn it around" path. Or at least anyone who's not a cubs fan. Their big spending spree that put them in the playoffs, that did turn them around. They just ran into Manroid one year and what was it, the D-Backs the next year, and couldn't get past them. They always just find a way to fail. That's what I mean.
-
Let him. He'll just be the next guy in a long line to fail in that place. They constantly make moves that get you thinking that they'll turn it around, but everyone comes crashing down to Earth.

How exactly did Cowley slap down Soxtalk? I'm not being facetious, I honestly don't know what he means. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 07:47 AM) Peggy is one of the best characters on TV I know this is going to sound like hypocrisy (), but I haven't yet gotten past how ugly I find her.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 10:49 AM) I wrote here back in August the scenario of Williams moving up or out has been discussed. Kaplan breaks the story after the season that Williams offered to take another position in the organization. I don't know, that seems like it could be coincidental. I'm not saying that you don't, but predicting a move would go a long way in convincing people. -
White Sox Sign Sergio Santos to 3 year deal

I'm saying that we should just wait to sign him long term until something like halfway through 2012 or at the end of that season. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 10:41 AM) If Philip just repeats his 2011 season next year, I'd guess his first year arb number could easily top $5 million. Very possible. I just don't see the need to do it just yet. Doing it now and waiting another year to "prove" himself a bit more might not make that much of a difference if we wait. But if we sign him now and he begins to repeat his career before 2011, then we've wasted a ton of money. I'd rather risk having to pay him a couple extra million later than to be stuck paying him a slightly lesser amount if he's terrible. -

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 09:06 AM) Bobby Jenks made 5.6 million and 7.5 million during his arbitration-eligible years with the Sox. I'm talking about Humber here, though. The guy has had one good season so far. I can't see arbitration ballooning his contract as much in comparison. -

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 10:13 AM) Example? For people to put any stock into those types of statements, you'll have to correctly predict a move from within the organization. Rock and a couple of other guys (names escape me at the moment) have done just that on a few occasions. Like it or not, when you say that you have a guy on the inside, nobody will believe it until you give us something of substance. Otherwise, people will just think you're trying to make yourself seem more important -
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) I'd decline option on Frasor and offer him and Buehrle arbitration. Frasor didn't impress me much the time he was here but I don't think he hurts us at all if he accepts and if not draft picks. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they picked up Frasor's option. Barring that, though, I'm sure they will offer arbitration to him and Buehrle. No way they offer it to Pierre. QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 10:18 AM) Can't believe Mark Buehrle is only a Type B Free Agent. Does someone have an exxplanation? Because he's just not that good? Sure, he had a pretty good year this season, but the guy is really never that great. He's above average, but not great. That's like the definition of a "B".

White Sox Sign Sergio Santos to 3 year deal
Milkman delivers replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) That would mean he's arbitration eligible, which would massively increase the cost of extending him at that point. How much can arbitration possibly balloon his contract? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 08:16 PM) Based on what ive read today he's on the same path as Santos and has 2 years of service time as of now. That ought to mean we'd have his control for 4 years, one more pre-arb. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) Let's see how he does in 2012 and then decide, he is very cheap for next year. What Soxfest said. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) At least in my view...a $2.6 million/year, 3 year commitment to Philip Humber is not a big risk compared to what he gave this year. We paid Linebrink 1.5 times that much this year to go away. Hell, in the fangraphs world he was worth $15 million this year alone. He also had a decent positive stint with the Royals in 2010 worth remembering. How many more years would we definitely have control of Humber including arbitration? -
Ozzie Guillen Released from Contract
Milkman delivers replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) Funny how Ozzie had to have that option exercised, it gets exercised and he doesn't honor it, and HE pops off about loyalty. Maybe he should re think that. If JR doesn't let him out of his contract, its very debatable whether he ever gets offered what he signed for ever again. Incredibly good point. It somehow makes him look even worse. -

QUOTE (MEANS @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) and that's what most everyone says, just stick with it, it gets better. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) yup Please tell me that the office characters (besides Draper) start to have some depth? It seems that the entire first season was just one long episode. All the guys drink at work and f*** their secretaries. Over and over again, that seemed to be their only purpose on the show. It seemed that the only reason to watch was the little hint they'd give almost every episode about Draper's past.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) He's just a vile looking human being and I love how they make him act in such disgusting ways each week. It's either me or nobody.
