Roy Halladay throws a perfect game!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) These guys are just trying to make Buehrle feel mediocre. Obviously this doesn't diminish Buehrle's performance, but man, it really felt special when Mark threw his perfect game. It's starting to feel almost commonplace now, haha. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 29, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) Yes, Hitler. What is the point of your ridiculous post? Armstrong's charity (or his shield from cheating) has raised $325 million dollars for cancer research, prevention programs and funds for survivors. Amazing that he went through all of that to make himself look good in the press. Maybe if you have a family member who faces a battle with cancer or a loved one who has suffered the pain of treatment or even death you appreciate a program like his instead of taking such a pathetic short sighted view of the absolute bigger picture. You don't know a f***ing thing about me, so don't bring my personal acquaintances into this. -
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) I do love how much everyone hates Jenks yet thinks we could trade him to anyone for anything. Sweet-o-logic If by "anything" you mean "absolutely anything that a team will give us to take Jenks off of our hands," then yes, that's what people are saying.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 28, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) In the little over 3 years that I've been watching MMA, I haven't been this excited to see a fight. They've done a great job of hyping up Rashad/Rampage. With that being said, I hope to see Rashad get his head knocked off tomorrow night. Can I ask why? I used to like Rampage more than Rashad (by a lot), but that completely flipped after their stints as coaches for TUF. Rampage came off as a real piece of s*** to me, all of the s*** talking and starting fights with guys who are nowhere near his training or ability, plus he was an absolutely terrible coach and didn't seem to give a s*** about his fighters. Rashad seemed to be a very good coach and basically the exact opposite of Rampage.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2010 -> 12:08 PM) Yeah, beating cancer was probably to cover up doping for a bike race. All the physical and mental struggle he went through was probably nothing. What's the point of this post? He was saying that he beat cancer, and that is a great thing, but he used the fact that he beat cancer to garner positive publicity while he cheated his ass off and left his wife for Sheryl Crow. Adolf Hitler could've beaten cancer...it wouldn't have made him a good person. -

QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 27, 2010 -> 06:30 AM) Oh for God's sake. Fine, he's nearly unhittable. Better? What I was getting at was he'd have one bad inning then come in and completely dominant for several innings in a row. I swear sometimes on this board you could say that Sox is spelled S-O-X and people would argue. Like I said, sometimes it's fun to just be an ass. -
QUOTE (Real @ May 27, 2010 -> 12:50 AM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLoeqT7vMIM not sure how to tag youtube videos properly, but this is a great fan video about the (IMO) best boxer in the world right now In your opinion? I mean, that's like saying "Albert Pujols is the best baseball player right now, IMO."

QUOTE (T R U @ May 26, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) the closers job is to come in and get the save, which Jenks has done except one time so far.. and I know Jenks has sucked, but as long as he keeps saving the game even if its close to being blown, its whatever.. when he starts blowing saves on a regular basis im all for getting him out of the role.. As someone already said, would you have stuck with Shingo as the closer in 2005? I think it was said that he was 8-9 in save opportunities and had a better ERA than Jenks does now.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 26, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) What he means is they just go to black. No showing paramedics around him with the heart monitor flat lining and such. I appreciate movies and shows that don't treat me like an idiot. I get enough of that at home and work. I understand what he meant, but it was pretty obvious as you say. I don't think the finale for Lost was quite so obvious.

Podsednik is batting over 30 points higher in average and OBP, over 70 higher in slugging, and over 100 in OPS. He's also got 11 more RBI. Pierre has a better SB%, but only 4 more SB.

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 26, 2010 -> 07:56 PM) Hmmmmm, maybe that explains why I loved movies like "the Happening" and most of my friends hated it. :-/ Another example is "the Wrestler" with Mickey Rourke. The ending leaves it open to viewers' interpretation over whether Randy the Ram died after he jumped off the turnbuckle in the end. I enjoyed the ambiguous ending. Yeah, you'd be the only person on Earth who liked The Happening. And there wasn't much ambiguity with The Wrestler. He died.

QUOTE (qwerty @ May 26, 2010 -> 07:21 PM) You can take positives and negatives away from pretty much every game ever played. It's unfair to reserve judgment only for losses. That is a terrible mindset. Being level headed is the way to go, a happy medium if you will. But no, you rather go all out after a loss, ranting and raving, hating on whoever is your whipping boy(s) is at the time... while rarely giving credit to anyone who deserves it. If you do give credit in a loss it's to about one player. I would be in agreement that not many deserve credit this season. But it's not about just this season. This has been going on since the beginning of time. You have certain players that you rag on consistently and do everything in your power to stay consistent with your views. No matter how irrational it may be. Nothing changes your mind. Ever. But whenever someone even remotely criticizes a favorite of yours you throw a s*** fit? How i see it you are stuck in your ways i'm afraid. Jenks has been nothing short of brutal, despite the saves, everything indicates such. Jenks has purely gotten lucky to get a save in 7 of 8. He has only thrown 56% of first pitches for strikes, down 7% from his career totals. He is also down 3% in overall strike percentage. To put it simple every single one of following stats (which i realize is foreign to you) is either up or down from his career percentages... O-Swing% - Z-Swing% - Swing% - O-Contact% -Z-Contact% -Contact% Zone% - F-Strike% - SwStr%. Everyone of those stats are also up from his 2009 season other than a measly 0.2% @ O-Swing%. A grand total of 0 pitches that he throws has gone for a positive value this season. Jenks has gotten smoked, as 26% of his pitches have been hit for line drives, while 19% is roughly league average. Something has to be done, as this has been occurring now since the second half of last season. Bobby jenks did not start pitching terrible overnight. A move has to be made, no questions asked. Whether a move is made for the short term or long term i don't care. He might figure things out in another role, then again he might not. All that i know is he is no longer deserving of his role which is so vital to this teams success. I could kiss you right now. As soon as the last player from 2005 is traded/released/allowed to sign elsewhere, a smile will cross my face because greg will no longer be able to preach to anyone who dares question any aspect of their game. Then again, we'll have to see every other post of his comparing our current players to the great former players. -
QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 26, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) I love how people are talking about Peavy the exact same way they talked about Rios. I don't. It means that they were both greatly underachieving for a good amount of time. Two months is a good amount of time in baseball, I'd say.

QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 26, 2010 -> 09:51 AM) I don't think there'd be anything wrong with that. Something strange is going on with Peavy right now whether it's physical or mental. He pitched extremely well last year after coming off the DL, and he's had two outstanding starts this year. I know that even average and even sub-average pitchers have great outings, but when Peavy's on, he is unhittable. So, I'm wondering if maybe it's more mental. One other thing that bugs me about Peavy is how he shakes off a lot of pitches. Watch Buehrle pitch, and you'll see him get the sign and throw the ball. Peavy shakes off pitch after pitch before throwing. Maybe he should start listening to his catchers, especially considering AJ is quite good at calling games. He's never thrown a no-hitter, so that's not true. -
Well, that's only half of the story (literally). I don't give a s*** about either of these guys, as I think they both suck and I'd rather have neither of them, but Podsednik is still blowing Pierre the f*** out of the water for the overall year.

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) Anyone want to speculate on what might've happened to the characters that were still alive after Jack died? Here's my guesses: Frank: Probably either retired from flying so he'd never crash again, or started flying local flights within the continental USA. He was in his 50's, so if he lived a full life he probably died between 20-30 years after Jack. Miles: Probably continued doing his ghost-whisperer gig, but didn't scam people anymore. His character was in his late 20's or early 30's, so if he lived a long life, he probably died between 40-50 years after Jack. Richard: Probably resumed his life under the identity he had while he worked for Mittelos Bioscience. Started aging after Jacob died, so if he lived a full life, he probably died 30-40 years after Jack. Kate: Probably helped reunite Claire with Aaron, and maybe stayed in Claire's and Aaron's lives as an aunt figure to Aaron. Probably ended up in a relationship with Sawyer, except they both really belonged to Jack and Juliette respectively, whom they reunited with in the afterlife. If Kate lived a full life, she probably died between 35-45 years after Jack. Sawyer: Probably ended up living an honest life after leaving the island, because everything that happened on the island changed him for the better. He probably had a change of heart and tried to be a father to Clementine except he probably more than likely didn't have a relationship with Clementine's mother. Probably ended up in a relationship with Kate, except they both really belonged to Juliette and Jack respectively, whom they reunited with in the afterlife. If Sawyer lived a full life, he probably died between 30-40 years after Jack. Claire: More than likely was reunited with Aaron, and with the help of Kate she ended up being a great mother. Probably either took Aaron back to Australia or started a new life in Los Angeles with the settlement money from the original Oceanic 815 flight. If she lived a full life, she probably died between 55-65 years after Jack. Rose & Bernard: More than likely lived the rest of their lives on the island. They probably died between 10-20 years after Jack. Desmond: Probably got off the island thanks to Hurley and reunited with Penelope and Charlie and lived happily ever after. If he lived a full life, Desmond probably died between 30-40 years after Jack. Ben: Probably became the next Richard. It's up in the air if he became ageless like Richard and lived a longer life, or just lived a normal life. If he didn't become ageless for a while, he probably lived a full life and died between 30-40 years after Jack, but if he became ageless like Richard then he might've lived for over a hundred years or more after Jack's death. Hurley: Became the new protector after Jack, so it's unknown how long of a reign on the island he had. Jack's reign was probably only for a day, Jacob's reign was for about 2,000 years, and Mother's reign was unknown. If Hurley decided to live a normal life and find a successor before he died, then Hurley probably died 20-30 years after Jack because he might've been a heart attack victim because of how overweight he was. If he decided to have a long reign as Protector, then it's possible he didn't die until as long as 2,000 years after Jack. Ji Yeon: Was probably raised by Sun's parents. Probably never met Jin's father. Probably lived her entire life in Korea, never really knowing her parents. Probably died between 70-80 years after Jack. Walt: Probably lived a full life. Probably lived most of his life in New York City, raised by his grandmother, went to college, had a family of his own, etc. Probably always wondered what happened to his father, Michael. If Walt lived a full life, he probably died between 60-70 years after Jack. See, this is the difference between the people who liked the finale and those who didn't. Some people like open-ended stories so that they can "decide for themselves" what happened. Others like concrete answers. I am one of the people who enjoy concrete endings. I don't watch a movie or read a book to decide for myself what happens (even if I don't enjoy the way it goes), as I want to know the end to a story.

My parents recently got wireless internet, so they are now using the new computer and an older one. The older one is working just fine, but the Internet Explorer/Firefox seem not to be fitting correctly on the screen. There is a scroll bar going left and right plus the normal one that goes up and down, which is sort of a pain in the ass to read anything. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? What I'm saying is that every website requires me to scroll left and right in order to see the entire thing.

A Cold Weather Super Bowl!

QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 26, 2010 -> 07:24 AM) True football fans love watching a game in the snow. I may be well off the mark here, but I would think there will be even more people trying to get tickets to this Super Bowl. I hope this works out, and they have a cold weather game once every few years. Super Bowl in Chicago? Green Bay? Pittsburgh? Sign me up. I have no actual support for this, but I have to imagine a very good percentage of people at the Super Bowl are not the biggest of fans (people with a lot of resources and connections). -

QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 26, 2010 -> 06:35 AM) Finally a Super Bowl outside of Florida, California, or a dome. I think this is great, and I hope it opens the door for more cold weather Super Bowls in the future. I was surprised by the amount of people complaining about it, though. And not just the players. I hope it's snowing and 10 degrees. That's football. I completely agree. I would guess that the complaints would come from fans of teams that usually play in warmer weather, as those teams tend to play poorly in the cold. Also, I'm sure a lot of fans don't want to be stuck in the cold for the biggest sporting event in America. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 25, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) Well, you didn't have 6 seasons of Lost and 8 seasons of 24 to base the point on... I'm just pointing out some of the differences between the two finales. The main reason I never got into 24 was the acting. It always seemed really cheesy and almost cheap...bad acting, really.

QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ May 25, 2010 -> 08:22 AM) Every player on that 2005 team did something to help win that ring. So while Frank didn't have an on field impact during the postseason, he did have an impact on winning the division which led to winning the World Series. What's really amazing is that almost every player on the playoff roster did something pretty big at some point in the playoffs. The only guy that I can't recall doing anything in the postseason was Timo.
