  1. Someone mentioned Hitler a page ago. Hitler was probably the most evil person in the history of the world, but at least he didn't molest children.
  2. QUOTE (Kid Gleason @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 10:35 AM) The only time I got close to crying over a celebrity death was when Stiv Bator(s) died. He had such a HUGE influence on me musically (and style of dress) that it was a pretty harsh blow. In the years after though I have also come to find that he was actually one hell of a person also. You won't find a bad thing written about him anywhere. It just seems such a huge shame that the guy is gone, and that he died in such a pointless way. Kid, I don't think I've ever heard of a single person whose name you mentioned on this site.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 12:03 AM) I like it, but in moderation. It should be reserved for really great moments. Caught me off guard the first time. Completely agreed.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) TMI! I was being tastefully unclear. Too much information would be if I said I meant my penis, which is exactly what I meant.
  5. I was too young to even know about Henson passing, but I'm sure that would have been rough for me. I remember being pretty depressed about Mr. Rogers and Charles Schulz passing, so Henson would've likely been similar. I think Dick Van Dyke going would really put me down, too.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 10:20 PM) If they're all over 18 when she does it, you hold the camera, I'll hold the microphone. I'll be holding something else.
  7. Whoa, how good is this guy? I've never even heard of him, and I thought Allen was supposed to be one of our bigger prospects. I just looked him up, and his stats are mediocre at best and he's 27. I'm sure I missed an explanation somewhere in this thread, but could someone copy and paste it for me?
  8. QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 05:21 PM) They need to start using factions more Those were the good days, now it seems there is never a good strong one anymore The last good stable was the King's Court. I think that's what it was called a few years ago with Booker T, Finlay, Regal, and whatever Booker's wife's name is. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) after watching last night, i think Million Dollar Man is the perfect manager for Legacy. He'd be a great manager, which means they won't use him.
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 12:14 PM) The first two prequels did suck, but the 3rd one was really good. My favorite of all of them is probably Empire Strikes Back. Everyone's favorite is Empire Strikes Back, including me.
  10. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 12:35 AM) I'd easily take the $5. And, I'd have to say that there are things more important in life than the Sox; one of them is money, and me being able to buy a new car to replace my old '92 Ford Taurus that doesn't have a working radio or power locks and has engine mounts that are loose, so if I accelerate too fast, my engine will just fall out. You ever get a replacement? QUOTE (Pauly8509CWS @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) 5 bucks Lauren Jackson Sox World Series, although we could probly use the money for college... Wow, what happened to this poster? Haven't seen him in years.
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) I saw this question posted on some other board and I'd like to see what most people would say. 5 bucks or WNBA title in Chicago (or wherever you live)? Honestly, and I thought about this for a little while, I'd take money. Haha, did you add that, knight?
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) He was never a very good director to begin with IMO. Lets face it, most of us wouldn't think the original 3 Star Wars films were all that good if we were in our 20s and 30s when we first saw them. He's lucky that a generation of 7-13 years olds that saw them when they first came out have elevated those three films to epic status. Shut your dirty whore mouth. Don't ever speak negatively about Star Wars.
  13. FOUR years ago? Wow, I didn't think it had been that long. Nice bump.
  14. Just watched Kramer vs. Kramer. That was incredible.
  15. Thanks, Shipps. This seems to be my first post: QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 3, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) <!--QuoteBegin-AnthraxFan93+May 3, 2005 -> 10:53 PM-->QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) <!--QuoteEBegin-->The only one I care about is the W/L record. We're doing pretty well in that respect, too. To which, Rowand replied: QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 3, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) <!--QuoteBegin-Milkman delivers+May 3, 2005 -> 10:03 PM-->QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) <!--QuoteEBegin-->We're doing pretty well in that respect, too. Your handle rocks The next time I posted in another thread, it was this: QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 3, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) <!--QuoteBegin-sox-r-us+May 3, 2005 -> 11:28 PM-->QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 3, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) <!--QuoteEBegin-->What would have happened to this forum if Shingo had blown this one run lead today and we had lost the game? Ozzie showed lots of balls to put Shingo in there, trying to instill some confidence in his closer from last year. But what if it had backfired.....I bet this forum would have "asploded" Maybe we better start accepting the idea that Ozzie may know more about baseball than all of us? Apparently I started off very positive.
  16. How are you guys finding these?
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 01:58 AM) Why isn't Dye even on the list of five that you get to vote for? Baseball is disgraceful. This guy is everything that's good about baseball and a WS MVP. At least give Sox fans a chance to vote him in. I honestly think that baseball will refrain from putting White Sox players on the final vote card because of the way we all got Podsednik and Pierzynski voted in consecutively. They won't risk it again because nobody gives a s*** about our players on a national level, and it does them no good to have many White Sox players representing the AL.
  18. What a spectacularly terrible division. The Astros and Pirates are just barely under .500, and they are two of the worst teams I have ever seen.
  19. A while ago, I started a poll in this forum with just two possible answers. It asked what you would rather have, a WNBA championship in your city (or a new franchise and then a championship) or 5 dollars right now. I'm not sure a single vote was cast for the championship.
  20. I watched Flags of Our Fathers and My Left Foot: The Story of Christy Brown. They were both solid movies. I have to agree with the general assessment that Letters from Iwo Jima was better than Flags of Our Fathers, but it was still a very good movie. My Left Foot was also very good, and was carried a lot by great performances by the main cast.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to enjoy Public Enemies, I came away thoroughly disappointed. The character development was nil, and I really found no connection with any part of the film. Bale was... stale, Depp was alright but didn't really get to show off his acting chops... It was "meh". If it was just some flick I rented I'd probably have liked it somewhat, but for the hype and how long I've been waiting for it, Public Enemies was just a downright bad film. That shouldn't surprise anyone. To me, he is stale in everything.
  22. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) Yeah that's unforgivable. Oh well, as long as the fans vote and one team gets a mandatory player the rosters won't be the best players. I like having each team with a player, but the fan voting is stupid. If it wasn't mandatory that each team have a representative, I'm sure the White Sox wouldn't even get a player in more often than not.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 07:11 PM) If someone was super nice and understanding, I'd give them free rentals without them knowing. I had the coupon code memorized and would just type it in. As much as most customers were douches, I did work with a lot of cool people and we hung out on nights and weekends and stuff. One girl had a pool and we were there all the time. I worked with quite a few hotties who looked good in bikinis. How did they look out of the bikinis?
  24. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:40 AM) Back in '90, I was on a plane from LA to DC during the Christmas holidays. Due to bad weather, we were put into a holding pattern above DC. However, during that time (unbeknown to us on the plane), some mercenaries hired to free a big-time drug lord being transported to the US took over the air traffic control radio frequencies and also killed lights to all the runways, so the pilots had essentially no visibility of the airport. And we were running low on fuel, so we had to make an emergency landing, but luckily, some cop from LA blew up the plane the mercenaries were in (killing the bad guys), so it lit up the runway and the pilot made a safe landing. Pretty crazy night. Awesome, I didn't realize what you were describing until the very end. The worst experience I had flying wasn't actually too bad. I was flying to Chicago from Boston this past winter, and a really big storm was moving into Boston (and there was one in Chicago, too). I arrived to the airport pretty early which ended up being a great decision, as they bumped me up to the earlier flight. That flight ended up being delayed for hours, but eventually took off. It was the last plane to actually fly out, and the rest were cancelled. We had a stop-over in New York, but the plane from New York was supposed to leave basically the second we landed, but that ended up being delayed as well and I had about 20 minutes to sit around that airport. This flight, again, was the last one to leave the airport. While waiting for the plane, I started talking to some girl who was making the exact same trip as me. At some point during our conversation, she noticed from the window that the baggage handlers were putting her luggage onto the wrong plane (the airline worker phoned in earlier to have them take our luggage directly to the gate our plane would be leaving from, but there was another plane already there bound for DC). The worker called the handlers and they pulled our luggage out. I eventually made it to Chicago late at night, about 8 hours later than planned, but I felt lucky considering all of the crap that happened. And then they lost my luggage for a few days on the flight back to Boston.
  25. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) He's still got family and probably friends in Cuba, as well as probably a lot of connections. Plus, he's still probably pays close attention to Cuban baseball and probably has seen him pitch several times. Yeah, but so does Cubano and I'd be suspicious if the organization just took his word on it, too. You can't take a guy's word for something he heard from his cousin or saw on TV. I'd take Alexei's word because he likely saw him in person, though.
